Highlights of the video: - Varre dodging the first attack before getting two shotted - Hoarah slamming Rya into the ground so hard he fixes her posture - Hoarah not letting Sellen stop to breath, proving that a crown is warranted with strength, not sorcery - Gideon trying to hit him with Comet Azur 4 times but Hoarah not letting him - Hoarah not letting Dung Eater even blink then ending the fight by ripping his head off - Millicent charging Waterfowl Dance only for Hoarah to stomp her out of the air before she can swing - Juno getting stomped into oblivion - Patches recognizing who he’s fighting and getting the fuck out
*Rya gets slammed and gets back up* "Are you quite finished? Take this opportunity to learn to master your emotions. Worry not, I take no offence. But others are not always so forgiving. Some take to anger, others sorrow... Bonds are fragile things, wont to break under strain. And once they're broken, everything is lost, with naught to gain."
Nah, she was kindly saying "Hello, brave tarnished, would you be interested in joining our house?" and Hoarah Loux just couldn't kill someone that adorable. That's why he only slammed her once
Gotta say that Gideon's glass cannon approach might have paid off if he'd managed to pull of those Azur's Comet casts. I wonder if he'd actually be able to pull it off given a few more attempts.
@@pinkvillafantasy I couldn't disagree with you more thoroughly. First is that Gideon Ofnir's ability makes himself and the target weaker to spells… and since Horah Loux has no spells, that has zero disadvantages to Gideon in their match up. That makes it easier for Gideon to burst Horah Loux down with his spells, and why him _barely_ missing his two Comet Azur casts in this match are moments that might have swung the entire fight super quickly in his favor if either one of them had connected. Both of them almost did, and that's also a spell that has a massive wind-up to fire. Second is that NPC casters are always trying to create distance between them and their target, rather than trying to engage at close range like NPCs fighting with weapons. That's also beneficial when fighting against Horah Loux who is trying to rush down because he has EVERY advantage at close range opponents who block. Lastly, Horah Loux's signature move is his Earthshaker, which has an _absurdly long wind-up_ and during that, he's completely immobile. That's a time where spellcasters can absolutely obliterate him - but _especially_ if you have Horah Loux debuffed, and use the game's most powerful spells when he's just standing there… which is exactly what Gideon is set up to do.
@@PierceArner You're assuming Gideon has player Ai, but he doesn't, the NPCs do not know how to doge effectively and a boss as fast as Hoarah Loux is gonna close the distance on any spellcaster very quickly, this why Sellen and Miriam also got destroyed here, they simply cannot create enough distance. NPCs also don't know to punish Hoarah's earth breaking attack, so if for some miracle they mange to be at a far distance from the earthbreaker, they still not gonna take full advantage of it. Even Gideon can't do it, he only does Comet Azure for a short time, he's not like Rennala who does a long Azure stream for a few seconds, Gideon's comet Azure is more like a quick burst and that's it, it's actually his worst spell since it takes too long to cast, only works if he has good distance, and he doesn't hold it very long. Gideon simply never gets a chance to do anything in these boss fights, if you watch any Gideon boss vs boss he almost always loses bc the bosses rush him and won't let him get up once he's down. He can only win if he spams the Apostles Black Flame since that spell works best on enemies that get up in his face + the hp burning effect BS kills bosses quick.
@@PierceArner You do realize Comet Azure takes time to do big damage and Loux can poise through to close the distance or evade to the side, right? Plus, Gideon's AI is fickle and rarely maintains the cast anyway. He won't survive until Earthshaker, and even if he did he would just randomly spam spells (several of which are essentially useless) and get caught in the AoE because he wouldn't put enough distance. Also, the first CA got interrupted mid casting, it didn't "barely" miss.
Man, Anastacia put a hell lot more of a fight than I thought. Here's an idea how about NPC squads vs Hoarah Loux? Like Millicent and her sisters vs him or Nepheli, Gostoc and Kenneth Haight vs him or maybe Godrick so it's more thematic, you know stuff like that.
@@ColonelKebabShop I must’ve avoided a pain train then, a flame strike flamberge at +7 stunlocked her, especially with the follow up heavy giving it the fire enhancement
I’m sorry… wot ?!!! You can summon nepheli LOUX to fight against hoara LOUX… and at no ducking point did From ever thought about putting even just one extra line of dialogue on either side to even just acknowledge it ? God damn that’s bad, that’s really bad >
@@shmekelfreckles8157 ... I'm sorry, very unlikely that the one who had the stormking as her freakin bird, and is called LOUX, you know, the name of badland godfrey ? Also her birthright is literally what makes her apt to go on stormveil's throne, so of course she's at the bare minimum a descendant of his >
@@nathanjora7627 not descendent but likely related, like niece, etc... but it could also just be a tribal name, but they would still likely have a blood connection. Far as I know, his only son's were with Marika, and well Godwin died, and it's unlikely that mogh and morgott had kids but who know
"Thank you, my lord. My back feels much better. I can actually stand upright once more." - Rya "Any time, my dear. Remember to keep thy back straight in the future." - Dr. Loux
Godfrey is easily the best boss in Elden ring, the amazing music, the exhilarating combat, how he pile drives you into Hell, the awesome arena, his Gigachad personality, it’s such a blast!
But there's two things that disappointing me about him: 1) He's not utilising his ghost lion Serosh at all. Just imagine all those possibilities and different attacks he could've perform using him. 2) His combat stile in phase 2 is kinda weird and even ridiculous. He strikes you with "claws" without even seemingly having them. He could do a lot better if he just used classic boxing moves.
What? I agree with most of this stuff, but his personality is basically "I like killing and being angry". He's like a smarter, more successful, less assholish Senator Armstrong.
@@watchfulwanderer6443 From the little lore we have about him, we know he's also a caring father and husband, and quite noble person who can restrain himself and respect others. He's better than Armstrong.
Anastasia's obsession with jump attacks and her self-healing AoW gave her quite an edge. Given a couple extra attempts she could've potentially pulled off a win (or at least a fairly close match).
Fun thing I just noticed, when he kills you with the toss up grab, he rips your head off. Awesome detail! For my money, best boss in the game. So much fun to fight, easy fall into the Dark Souls Rhythm.
Both wrong, he tears your skull open, from when he's done it to me, It was always the head where he rips it open, not the chest. Which is honestly, way more brutal than ripping our head off or ripping our chest open... In my opinion at least
Oh man, the ragdoll physics were great. They did such a good job with Hoarah Loux's brutality. That was awesome to watch. And of course, classic patches xD
He's pretty tough, but probably the fairest boss in the game and my personal favorite. He's also not quite as hard as Maliketh or Malenia, or as Radagon (if killed slowly.)
@@perrytran9504 My personal favorite too, I love a boss that makes me feel like I deserved every hit I took with well deliberately telegraphed and paced attack animations. Instead of relying on split second cheap shot moves, unbalanced ganks, flying out of range, teleporting, camera BS, area denial and relentless auto tracking attack combo and projectile spam.
Now power bomb is badass but something about his other grab is just so disrespectful I love it so much more. Especially when its the kill move, its like he got bored and just chucks you on the ground.
Here’s a possible continuation of this; all NPCs (or all invaders) vs Morgott. They stand a fairer chance against him and Morgott does especially well against NPC type enemies. It would be really interesting to see.
Milicent weapon art dodge was sick !!! She fought good but died the worst that it had to be done off camera . Give Nepheli Loux more HP , want to see how the fight goes . Father-daughter battle .
Vyke and Sellen's fights were basically "CHOKE SLAM! HOARAH LOUS WITH THE CHOKE SLAM OUT OF NOWHERE!" I am also so sad his own daughter got squashed like a bug.
Preceptor Miriam is the one i´m truly happy about getting clapped by Hoarah Loux. the amount of rage i have for him for spamming magic at me in the rafters....
Oh even with like 7 flasks I'm pretty sure that Vyke, Anasthasia, Behrnal, Gideon, Dunk Eater, Millicent and perhap even Okina could do it quite consistently. With 14 even some of the weaker ones that didn't get like 2-shot could potentially do it. Don't underestimate flasks.
I think late game npcs can definitely do it but I think most early and mid game npc will just die since they don't have concept of drinking above half health to avoid being busted.
@@ErykBeyk 7 sure but what about 3? Most NPCs in DS3 had that much, I think Hawkwood was the only one with a whopping 7 (but his AI is very stingy with heals so it balances out.)
@@perrytran9504 3 would be hard, maybe the heavy hitters like Berhnal (he is like the strongest NPC besides Gideon), Millicent, Anasthasia and maybe Vyke and Gideon could still do it, although it would be way less consistent.
When you put these NPC's against bosses in the game, it really makes a difference to how skilled our Tarnished character is. Or perhaps, gained enough power to just cheese some fights. Either way, still pretty dope.
Nah it just shows how much stronger bosses have gotten against mindless play compared to past games. Even as recently as DS3, Nameless King (generally the hardest base game boss and one of the strongest) is about even with the Havel knight in his area. And Havel doesn't even have heals, he's just extremely tanky and hard hitting like Bernahl. But here Bernahl got clapped and he's probably the strongest non-boss NPC.
