Piccolo would be a decent GoD, don't you think? He's serious, levelheaded, has no qualms with killing, and, related to that, is unafraid to do what needs doing. And he doesn't eat, so Whis wouldn't have to share food with him.
Piccolo or Gohan would be the best for the job. Though Gohan is most likely to decline the offer, as he doesn't want to leave his family, as well as not liking to kill. If Videl became an angel, then Gohan would accept, but I don't see that happening. What is possible, however, is Gohan becoming the SK, since this is more likely to allow him to have Videl as his "assistant", similar to what Kibito is to Shin
Frieza as god of destruction: For the first century I will go easy on them, lull them into a false sense of security. When they think I am not so bad BAM!! I'll go full tyrant on them in the second century. After that I'll disappear for a millennia and make them wonder if I ever existed to begin with just to come back and kill them all.
Reed Sayles Beerus is not a tyrant. He's an occasional jerk but deep down he's a cool guy. I mean he was willing to let the Saiyans eat food on his home planet.
Thing is 17 doesnt like blowing up underdeveloped worlds because what if they are rich in wildlife? Not exactly civilisations. He'd have no problems blowing up the CIVILISED worlds though.
No 17's goal in life (and really 18's as well) is to feel human. I don't think they would want to take on this role especially cuz they have families like Vegeta
Personality wise, I think he's a perfect match. Commitment wise? No, he has a family, and I don't know if you can take your family with you or visit your family that frequently as god of destruction

I can definitely see him taking up the job in a few hundred years. Another choice I could have seen working would be future Trunks. Instead of just taking he and Mai to an alternate timeline where they already existed, could see Whis convincing Beerus to offer to take him in as a new challenge while secretly planting the seeds for Trunks to eventually succeed him. True Trunks probably wouldn't take the offer but I'm surprised it wasn't an option!
Freeza as a GoD would be a terrible idea imo. The whole point is that a GoD is supposed to *care for* and help *improve* the universe. Think of it like a gardener, who prunes off parts of a plant to improve the overall health and well-being of the plant. Whereas Freeza would be just like Beerus, destroying planets willy-nilly because he feels like it.
Blame Frieza for making universe 7 shit. He destroyed any race that could potentially be a threat and enslaved the useful ones. Not to mention purging planets of native life forms so it can be sold. to the highest bidder.
That's what I think too. Beerus being asleep while Frieza went around basically doing his job for him. As evil as Frieza is, he's a better God of Destruction for Universe 7 than it's actual God of Destruction.

Personally, i think that Cell would be a quality replacement for Berus. If Freza was to take the mantel of god of destruction, i think it would go straight to his head and he would build a new empire and destroy anyone and everyone that didn't fall into line despite Whis' best attempts to stop that from happening. Cell however, his only goal in life is absolute perfection (aside from killing goku of course, but Whis can keep an eye on that aspect of it). If he was to rise in rank to the second most powerful being in his universe behind Whis, i think he would want to make sure that the universe he represents was held to a higher standard then most. Its in Cell's very nature after all.
That actually makes sense. Cell could go from planet to planet testing the strength of mortals and helping them release their potential like with gohan to keep the mortal level up
Cell likes to fight strong opponents because of his Saiyan DNA. And really the whole cell games was to stroke his ego and he wanted to test HIS perfection. The perfection of the rest of the universe doesn't matter to him.

the correct answer is Future Trunks. already strong, willing to do the dirty jobs, invested in supporting civilizations and wont affect any of the Z fighters or the future of the story. if you go by manga feats he could also become a supreme kai so he would be nigh invulnerable since his weaker half couldnt be killed to defeat him. pretty easy choice in my books.
the gods themselves dont hate time travel just that mortals are reckless enough to do it. they dont want mortals changing the timeline. also the gods dont seem to have much of a problem with there being two zenos(one of which came from an alternate timeline)

we have seen 2 gods destroy so far and they were the 2 WORST gods of destruction. destroying good makes no sense from a mortal level perspective so its likely that because they destroy on a whim is the exact reason that their universes are so low on the totem.

Cell is a decent candidate. But Freeza is a stronger one. Cell only wants to test FIGHTERS. Not societies and how advanced they are. Freeza when he was Galactic Emperor destroyed weak societies and conquered advanced ones, and if he found worlds high in resources, he took them over and stamped a civilisation on it. This guy knew Business and knew the value of advanced worlds (so long as they were under his rule).
Frieza limited the universe in fear of being over powered. He would turn the universe into north korea. Strength doesnt really matter as long as you can destroy a planet. Even nappa could take that role
True. But keep in mind that the mortal level does not always measure strength. It measures advancement of civilisation. Freeza also feared someone stronger than him because he was Mortal. As an Immortal God of Destruction you can take away his fear of this. He could allow Goku-Vegeta tier warriors to exist, because they couldn't touch him. Vegito might at full power. But if Freeza trained as hard as Goku, he'd surpass even that. The guy was literally BORN to rule. When you look at the big picture like Freeza does, the only reason he looks narrow-mindedly is because he HATES Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, etc. Because they got in his way on Namek. If he can be redeemed somewhat to get passed this (like is SLOWLY) happening in Super. He'd be perfect for the job.
Super Vegito I think fat buu would make a great god of destruction.. he is peaceful by nature and yet very capable of the opposite if necessary. given what we know about other universes this seems as if it's the best mixture to keep order but allow mortals to flourish the most
it is my understanding that king piccolo only wished for his youth back, not eternal youth. Also remember that namakians live for centuries, and piccolo is only like in his late 20 given that he was only 3 years old when goku was about 17.
If Frieza were to replace Beerus, you'd have a more competent God of Destruction than Beerus, but at the same time you'd have a deity that rules the entire universe with an iron fist, and nobody would be safe. Frieza would be given EXACTLY what he wanted during the Namek Saga, which was to become the most powerful being in existence, so when you really think about it, Universe 7 is better off with Beerus staying in his current position.
You have to think though. Freeza blew up loose ends and entities that could CHALLENGE him. But outside of people he personally did not like, he actually ruled with a Neutral Fist. Worlds became civilised, he developed the underdeveloped worlds if they were rich in resources. It was because of HIM so many planets became Space-Faring to begin with. People FEARED Freeza and so long as nobody challenged him and they did their jobs, they were safe. He hates Goku for a reason. You tend not to like people who killed you. Freeza reminds me of Space Caesar honestly. Or Alexander the Great. Even Ghengis Khan had redeemable traits.
I personally think Uub would be a great candidate. He's the reincarnation of Kid Buu, he's much more level headed than Fat Buu, and I feel he would make a great disciple for Whis.
That's not a bad idea actually. It's not as if Beerus is on his way out yet and we don't know how far Super is going to go down the timeline. This could all begin with Uub being a teenager and advancing in power so rapidly that he'll end up being a top tier character rivaling Goku himself, which Whis could find worthy.

We have Super. I'm thinking Super is going to wrap everything up once and for all leading to someone becoming a god. Once Super ends, Dragon Ball will likely be finished for real this time.
If we were voting for a new God of Destruction, I would actually suggest Piccolo, once he received the proper training. He's not soft like Goku, and has tried to outright kill his opponents. It'd be perfectly believable for Piccolo to blow up a planet, as long as he had to and was part of his job. But more importantly, Piccolo has a major character trait that most of the other Z fighters lack; wisdom. He would be much more calm and focused when dealing with his duties. After all, we've seen Kami watch over Earth, having Piccolo watch over the universe as a God of Destruction would be a perfect homage.
jiganashi definitely no. He just wanted to fight people. In the manga zeno is about to destroy some universes and then goku shows up, reminds him of the tournament, and zeno then puts those two activities together. Goku did end up giving them a fighting chance, but he had no idea he was doing it.
vegeta should be the God of destruction he isn't good or evil he is neutral which means he will only destroy what's needed frieza would destroy all life
I think Frieza replacing Beerus would be interesting. On one hand he would have all the power he ever dreamed, but on the other hand he would be unable to actually use it at his whim; Whis would keep him in check from going too far, and he would never be allowed to rule the weak as he is accustomed to. It could potentially be the ultimate punishment.
I have an interesting theory so listen up if you like: If the supreme Kai dies beerus will vanish. Shin became the Supreme Kai, after Buu killed the old supreme kai, therefore Beerus didn't vanish, because there was still a supreme Kai around. BUT Buu never killed the Supreme Kai, he ate him and the supreme Kai became a part of Buu. So is Beerus actually connected to Buu?
I wouldn't complain if a GoD fell from grace and had to learn some humility. Kinda like Q did in Star Trek TNG. Give Freezer the job and make him a horrible weight on the scale dropping the civ count down even worse with his bloodlust. My guess is that Without the Emperor keeping things in line all the planets fell apart. Rebelled, civil wars, etc. Also Vegeta during his few years in space going from planet Freeza to planet Freeza killing all the people who used to work for him...
I think when shin said 28 planets he meant 28 societies, some of which includes multiple planets and species/races. Freeza's galactic army alone probably had 28 different species/races.

You really need to drop the 28 planets thing - it's likely a misunderstanding or a false statement made out of ignorance by the supreme Kai (who we know is rather ignorant). We already know that Frieza ruled over 200 planets in his arc. Unless the majority of those were destroyed between DBZ and DBS, there aren't just 28 populated planets left. That is, unless Frieza ruled over desolate planets with no population at all
I can see Frieza getting the job actually. Not only would be finally become immortal and be the most feared creature in his reality but he would also get out of hell. He would rule above a simply galactic empire. Maybe abuse his power every so often but Whis would keep him in check especially with Earth. I see Frieza getting something out of helping the Z fighters in the Universe Survival Arc. Though I can certainly see him backstabbing them and going back to hell I would think he could be better than that.
THEORY! Goku is appointed temporary God of Destruction after the tournament because he suggests that Uub be trained to be God of Destruction. Goku's job is to train and mold Uub into a good natured and competent God of destruction. This would merge seamlessly with the end of Dragon Ball Z. -OR- The same thing except, the Daishinkan decides a new Omni-King is needed, he trains Goku with the intent that Goku fills the role while he scouts for a permanent replacement.

Zeno is at such a insane level of power is would be ridiculous for Goku to ever become that powerful. I think the most powerful Goku should ever become is Beerus level.
well being that shin and beerus suck at there jobs just let goku become the supreme Kai and vegeta become the god of destruction. goku loves people, making new friends and making strong guys to fight (I'm stretching this with goku but its there kinda) and then vegeta can satiate his craving for destroying things (if he even has that anymore) plus i love the thought of goku and vegeta being life linked neither of them can kill each other just grow and grow for eternity stronger and stronger the rivalry would never end lol
I think it would be neat to have an arc or a two part filler where someone does take over for beerus. To see them trying to do things right as well as see beerus trying to function as a mortal would be interesting.
I think its clear which character will replace Beerus, and that character is none other than, the reincarnation of Buu... just think about it. We all know that Goku will get involved with him of some sort, the question how???, well ladies and gents if you think about it carefully Majin Buu the reborn reincarnation of course would fit in perfectly. King Piccolo's primary personality maybe. But the Kami in Piccolo would NEVER do it. Kami was a PROTECTOR. Not a Destroyer. He worked with the Kais to create life and watched over it.
Or Goku to Frieza perhaps? It'd be the best way to troll him as well. He gains the ultimate power in the universe only to find out that his life is connected to Goku, he can never kill the one enemy he has literally played out in his head on how to kill him.

I actually think Frieza is perfect for this gig. And a larger part of the problem is Shin/Majin Buu. We're are supposed have a lot more gods on the table than we do and apparently Zeno gives so few shits that Shin had never met him in the years he'd been in control. Additionally Whis and Beerus never made time to say hi to the new guy. Shin wasn't groomed for the job, we see from Zamasu and Gowasu that people get trained possibly for years for this. Shin essentially woke up one day incharge of the Universe with zero competent help to build it back up. Frieza would also likely be less random with his destruction than Beerus is. I can easily see a combination of Freiza essentially pulling some Assassination Classroom shit. "Hey if one of you bitches can land a single blow you can keep your planet. You have one year. Additionally if you REALLY look back at the Saiyan and Namek sagas it's pretty obviouus he has a thing for Vegeta. Zarbon asks "Could he really have grown that much since I last saw him." Frieza essentially answers "That beast is rocking people day in and day out while you carry my purse. Yes it's very possible.
Freezer definitly wouldnt destroy too many planets, because he always was able to do that He knows how to keep a healthy populaion and he destroys planets only if he really wants it (like when he is driven into a corner like at namek or later at earth in super, or when he is really pissed because he was humiliated like when he came to earth after the namek saga or when he feels threatened like when he destroyed planet vegeta) beerus destroys planets because he dislikes the food And all these cases in the brackets above would´nt happen to freezer after he would´ve become the new god of destruction
I'm up for some little Beerus' character development And Shin too! I mean, it's fun to think about replacements (Piccolo seems the most plausible imo) but in the end Beerus (and Shin) are cool characters in the roles they are in Except Shin, he barely does anything but i believe he has the potential to do so if the writers decide to. And the aftermath of the Tournament of Power seems like a good impulse

If Frieza was a god of destruction he could pull off a tfs Frieza but on a universal level: torment it for 100 years then stop for 100, only to start up again when they think he's gone for good

In DB universe, it's common knowledge that in order to get stronger you have to train. My question is, why doesn't Beerus train constantly to make sure that nobody can come along and defeat him? Why is he so complacent in his position? I mean, he's in a position that's going to be constantly challenged.
I think Vegeta gaining Super Saiyan... um... indigo (?) is a pretty big sign that he wouldn't take the job, being a form born of the need to preserve. Frieza would make a good god of destruction, but I bet you that if Toriyama agrees, Frieza is gonna undergo a bit of a character development arc. Not necessarily becoming a good guy, but becoming a less-impulsive evil overlord.
I think it would be interesting if they could find a way to make Broly or Yamoshi a God of Destruction or even the very unlikely idea of Vegitto or Gogeta
Got another topic you might find interesting, Masako. Regarding Krillin, Tien, Yamcha, and possibly Chiaotzu. How is it they always seem to benefit better from training Goku already underwent? For instance, when Goku trained with Kami and Mr. Popo, he gained just enough of an edge to beat Piccolo Jr. in the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai only to be hopelessly outmatched by Raditz years later. Then Krillin and the others seek the same training with Kami and Mr. Popo, which apparently makes all of them strong enough to leave Raditz in the dust. Example number 2: When Goku trained with King Kai, it made him strong enough to body Nappa, but it wasn't quite enough for him to beat Vegeta on his own. Fast forward to Namek and after some 100x Gravity training, Goku carowhack's Recoome and Burter, decks Jeice in the schnoz, and gives Ginyu a mental breakdown. After 4/5 of the Ginyu Force are dead, they go and try to conquer King Kai's planet, only to get bodied by Tien, Yamcha, and Chiaotzu. What kind of Senzu beans are these guys popping?
