Who could replace Joe Biden? 

The problem is that the generic democrat doesn't exist. If you are a politician then you will have a past and hold positions that will both attract and push away voters. Every politician has a negative quality, but when you say "generic democrat" it completely removes that.

I like Sanders a lot but he’s considered too extreme for many voters independent voters and even part of the democrats. He therefore wouldn’t be the best to take on Trump imo.

He'd have had a good shot but an open seat race and a less-than-stellar second-term record under Obama's presidency by the Democrats (due in main part to their losses in Congress in 2010 and 2014) made for a very difficult situation for any Democratic nominee. And Sanders' opportunity was strictly 2016; he took the political establishment by surprise with a very outsiderish campaign with broad appeal from the left to the center-right, but by 2018 Trump adviser Brad Parscale had figured out how to make the socialism label stick again and Sanders had pivoted more to a conventional liberal Democrat, losing some of his indie support.

One big reason is because she`s a former prosecutor who locked up scores of people from majority black neighborhoods for marijuana possession. But then, once it started becoming trendy to smoke it and more left-leaning people started advocating for weed decriminalization, she straight up filmed herself lighting up a joint, laughing as she did so. Which, I mean, fine, but she has never once addressed her past of playing the dirty cop

Do the voters of the Democratic Party believe she is up to the job of President? If they did she would be the obvious candidate as Vice President,but it seems like they don't have confidence in her. I don't know enough of the background to this being on the other side of the Atlantic.

I like Bernie, but I don't think that would be a good idea. Putting the age issue aside, it would look like a hostile takeover of the Democratic Party by its progressive wing. This would lead to a lot of centrists, who argue that Bernie was already voted against twice, to remain home in November.

Replacing a man because of age issues with someone who is older is not a good idea.

Biden, Harris, pete, even Trump struggle to fill regional convention halls while Bernie Sanders overflows the Nation's largest outdoor football stadiums. It'll be a landslide for Bernie 2024!

@@tankspeed - I think all of those choices are viable choices when the other choice is Trump. 🤣 The biggest thing I hate about American elections is that they. never. end. It's like their election cycle is just every day of every year forever. Every other democracy can get it done in 3 months or less but Americans need to incessantly be campaigning and pretty sure that means no actual governing ever happens.

It goes on for about 9 months,out of every 4-year cycle. Here in the UK it's 4 to 6 weeks out of every 4 to 5-year cycle (with a few exceptions like the two general elections in 1974 and the insertion of the 2017 one into the 2015-19 cycle,plus the Scottish and Brexit referendums (referenda?)).
