CORRECTION: We'd just like to take the time to apologise for an error we have spotted in the video. At 3:00, we state in the narration that Mordaunt has a satisfaction rating of 42%. On screen, however, she is shown to have a satisfaction rating of 45%. An error was made in the animation of the video, and the poll on screen at the time is from November 2023 - not the one we reference in the narration from April this year. Again, we'd just like to apologise for this error, and we'll try to minimise such errors moving forwards.

If they end up with sub 100 MPs as one poll has suggested, there could be a situation where there are only centrist, or only right leaning MPs left. It could change the whole feel of the party. I'm guessing the choice for the Tories is between 'saving seats from being lost to Labour' and 'saving seats from being lost to Reform'? It's quite obvious if there's a change in leadership, given polling, they're there to save the furniture at the next election. I'm guessing that many Tory MPs may feel that Reform is more of an existential threat to the party, so may be inclined to support a more right-leaning leader to mitigate the losses. I could, of course, be wrong.

Doesn't mean a thing if Penny, Suella or Badenoch don't win their seats. If the leadership contentest is after the election and not triggered before hand by bickering MPs the tory party landscape will look vastly different. With current polling and majorities being over turned of 25k+ being favourites amoung Conservatives means very little if you aren't viewed favorably in your constituency.

I get why some MPs might want to try. "With someone else, I might be able to keep my seat.". But, who would want to replace him? Even if someone had a plan that they thought would turn things around, do they think they'd be able to get it passed and implemented to make a difference by the end of the year? Most likely not. Which leads us to ask: Does anyone really want to carry the mantle of being in charge when the Conservative party lost their biggest election ever?

One thing you haven't really mentioned is the vulnerability of Mordaunt's seat. Badenoch and Braverman in NW Essex and Fareham & Waterlooville respectively are not going anywhere at the next election, but Mordaunt in Portsmouth North very much could. Her being taken out in her seat would mean her faction of the party would probably have to find someone else, potentially someone that isn't well known

It's hardly controversial that the British Empire was a force for good. The BE was not the first empire in basically any of the regions it occupied, and most had known atrocities and exploitation by previous regimes...however, only the BE left a legacy of anti-slavery, an evil that had plagued mankind since pre-history. In its short time the BE ended the slave trade, spread the industrial revolution that gave us prosperity beyond what anyone thought possible, spread the scientific principle that elevated humanity to the tech level it enjoys now, spread medical advances that have saved billions of lives, spread modern agricultural tech that has resulted in more people dying of obesity than famine (something that was unheard of in all history before the 20th century), prevented Napoleon from conquoring Europe and defeated the Nazis. All in all, they had a positive legacy. Lets not forget that if the UK had taken the land it likely would have been taken by another, as empire was the order of the day. Its not as if it would have remained independent, either a local/regional empire would have taken the land, or another European one would have...and look at their legacy. Most had to be forced by the UK to abandon slavery.
