Okay Iggy's was a classic. Siouxsie's version was similar. MH's version is darker and moodier. But I will confess that I am a huge MH and INXS fan so am a bit biased. But at the same time, I don't care., MH's delivery is throaty and sultry and I love the unique direction.

Thank you for doing these, Chris and Cynthia. For me I love Siouxsie and The Banshees version, but I'm great believer if you're doing a cover you've either got to do better than the original if you're going to do it in the same style as that, or you do something else with it and make it our own as Chris said, for me that's why I like the Michael Hutchence version the best because it has more work in it. In saying that all the versions of this sing are great.

MH is in the confinements of providing something for a soundtrack, which means there's little room for self-indulgence. I like what he did because it veers away from either Iggy's or Banshees' version, and I appreciate that kind of effort. MH for me.

I'm surprised to say the Siouxsie version beats Iggy for me. I'm not so keen on the brass, but the rhythm track and the punchier bass were so much better. The Michael Hutchence take on it was dire. It stripped the song of its dynamism and melody and left nothing appealing. Darkness for its own sake is just yawn inducing.

I always liked Michael Hutchence when he got dark and experimental.. be it with INXS or outside-INXS.. I'm a Melbourne boy and my fave local cult movie is Dogs In Space starring the Hutch himself. I wasn't too sure what I thought of his take on the Iggy tune, but I was leaning towards it because it had that Hutchence flavour and it wasn't a replica of the original. I like Iggy's for nostalgia, Siouxsie's version might as well be Madonna (I just dont care for it)..and because MH's version makes me unsure, I'm going to go with it.

Interesting to do Michael Hutchence. You know he had a lot of less-than-commercial side projects. MAX Q, Dogs In Space, solo.. Don Walker and Michael Hutchence doing ''speed kills'' is a pretty interesting collab between him and Cold Chisel's pianist/songwriter...

Fun Story. Many moons ago I attended Bizarre fest in Germany. Lots of good bands It was a day or two. The headliner was Siouxie. They had just released Passenger and it was getting big airplay. Opening before her was Iggy Pop. 75% of the way through Iggy's set, most of the little German Goth girls showed up and started pushing their way up to the front for good places for Siouxie. I don't think any of them had ever heard of Iggy before. Because they were pushing their way into dangerous territory...Iggy Fans. When the time was right, Iggy launched into, "The Passenger" and it got chaotic up in the front with Iggy fans thrashin' around. He did the song so energetically and loud, I don't even think Siouxie bothered doing, "The Passenger" during their set.

I love unhinged Iggy with The Stooges, and I love restrained Iggy with this song. Siouxsie does a real nice vocal, but if they were going to add horns, I wish it would have been more creatively done, and was surprised by how much I liked the Michael Hutchence version. All good, but the nod to Iggy for original and familiarity's sake. Yes, I heard the 30 minutes comment; is that a new record? Great upload.

Iggy's version is easily my favourite. OK I may be biased as I learned to play this from listening to Iggy a ton of times. Still it's a raw and stark song and should be played that way in my opinion. The Siouxsie And The Banshees version was super good and I really enjoyed it, but in this instance, a bit over produced. It really is a good cover, but a cover none the less The Michael Hutchence was SUPER MOODY!!! I really liked this version, totally different vibe. #1 Iggy Pop #2 Michael Hutchence #3 Siouxsie And The Banshees

Iggy then Siouxsie for me, no contest. I was unaware that Michael Hutchence gave it a go, thats something I'll try to forget. Bit of trivia.....Iggy *loves* the Siouxsie version. The section of the lyrics with the girl and the car isn't really part of the song. Its a section that Iggy would occasionally adlib when he played it live, and would change the make of car and the girls name to suit the country he was playing in.

Hope you had a great Xmas Brett , agreed with Iggy pop - I was a huge fan of INXS back in the day , I happen to think The Devil Inside is one of the best rock/pop songs of that whole decade . Your one of the few Aussies I’ve actually heard saying you were a fan out loud , they were ENORMOUS worldwide after “Kick” and I would definitely say I was a fan , not a t-shirt wearing , weener with posters of the band sorta fan 😅 but someone who appreciates bloody well written and performed songs in general snd I seen a docu about how Andrew Farris was the main songwriter and how he came up with his riffs and melodies for most of those worldwide hits , I found it fascinating Brett . 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

@@jaymacgee_A_Bawbag_Blethering I had an okay Christmas with my kids and parents. The wife tended to her own parents, but we're all got together on boxing day. I might be one of those precious ''i was there first'' types, but I kinda gave up the INXS KICK (pun intended) after _Listen Like Thieves._ I only got into them when Shaboo Shabah had come out, and I was like you, an appreciator rather than a fan. I did see them in the early days and I didn't mind ''Just Keep Walking'' and ''Don't Change'', but I moved on after _The Swing._ Maturity and time has helped me appreciate their world wide hits these days. I am a mild INXS fan and I think I only like two of their albums and very early singles. His take on Passenger sounds he's a passenger on a train that's going down techo hell.

Siouxsie should not have done this track as there’s so little cover to distract you from her extremely limited if not awful singing ability . Don’t get me wrong , I bought HK Garden , Spellbound , Isreal , Cities in dust and they were all written to her strengths , this box of banality shows her vocal ability up tbh and it was a bad choice for her to do it . I can’t stand this version , unlike Cynthia I can’t have horns n post production on this supposed to be stripped down and stark indictment of the dark side of the city . ….. disappointing 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

None of them. I have more of a connection to Iggy's version by the memories attached to it. My mates and I used to listen to iggy's version back in the 70's and have dreams of getting out of Melbourne (Australia, not Florida) and heading to wonderful places like London , Paris, New York , Berlin... Then we got there and discovered that Melbourne wasn't so bad.. Infact, the innocence of Melbourne and the nascent ''punk'' scene was busier and more inventive.. Bands played more frequently, and the punk rule book written by British journalists was literally burned and pissed on. People in Berlin were fascinated by us Melbourne people (mostly due to The Birthday Party), the English were too programmed by watching Skippy to understand us and were taking their daily dose of the NME bible, the French were boring and clueless, and New Yorkers were stupid and didn't really know how to think for themselves.. a lot of them were still trying hard to be Richard Hell. Iggy's version just taught us youngins to not get carried away with our imagination... I feel nothing for Siouxsie's version, and Hutchence version is a bit of a yawn, though it does remind me of the sounds we were toying with in Melbourne in the early 80's and Hutchence has a strong connection to the city... I'll still stick with none of them.

There's a lot of people that got stuck on punk rock ideals in the 70's, and were never able to grow out of it. They get a shock when people tell them that _Lust For Life_ is a shit album. Most of these people are more in love with the stories behind the music than the music itself. My vote is to Siouxsie..
