I can’t see the tiled plinth catching on. What a balls up. Fitting a kitchen at the moment I won’t be offering the customer that option.

Its just reminded me Mark of a job we were called to some yrs ago where the original plumber refused to and reason was the kitchen had completely flooded . We came to have a look and after a test because everything looked bang on except for a floor full of water . we decided to give the machine a test so see if there was a leak on machine .. but immediately the machine tried to eject water it squirted out of the waste pipe . and on inspection we found a wad of plastic stuffed down the upstand waste ... SO synopsis was the original plumber had stuffed a was of plastic packing paper down the flexi pipe to temporarily hold the pipe in the waste upstand whilst he clipped the waste pipe and probably forgot to remove it . here im being charitable for him .. Then the chippie finishing the unit pulled the machine out and in dong so pulled the flexi straight up and out . and on replacing the pipe when he was finished not knowing or seeing the plastic stuffed in the upstand thought job done . HENCE when the woman put on a wash . well the water had nowhere to go then . . only up and out thru its easiest path over top the waste upstand . resulting in destroying her kitchen floor which was timber ajoining the tiled section . .No wonder he did not want to return ..

Another great video , it’s so nice you include a mistake ! It happens everyone’s hit a pipe at some point it’s inevitable at sometime and sure won’t be the last . Great honest insight into your work as always . That tiled floor😬 , not even the blind man would be happy with that one !!!! What kind of Underfloor heating course do you recommend to start switching over from rads to UFH? I live in Tottenham, London and I do have a customer who would want me to install it in May for her property she just bought. She's got joists no concrete and brick walls. I am just waiting for her to get rid of asbestos flue

Good video mark, good to see , we all take a chance even hanging cupboards and pictures etc , all in a days work, it’s about repairing it what matters ,and the tiling been to many a job where they tile in the units and appliances so you can’t get them out to change or repair. (And the guys who invented taps to go on the side of the baths needs shooting )

Thanks for showing the solution to the problem. That tiling job was horrific, I feel sorry for the poor customer. I’m glad she phoned you about the dishwasher and didn’t get the tiler back again. Surprised you don't have a pipe/metal/stud detector or perhaps you didn't have it with you at the time? Also I thought copper pipes needed some sort of wrap/protection from the corrosive properties of plaster?

It's because your a proper tradesman that it pisses you off when you see rip off work geezer. I went to an old lady who panicked on the phone to my wife on a Sunday because the 'plumber' had taken her card as he hadn't got his 'machine ' with him. Got her to phone police while I made my way to her and she had been charged £110 pounds to turn off the feed to her expansion tank which was in the airing cupboard. The tank was old galvanized one rotted and leaking. He had quoted £800 to come back and change it. I did it and ended up painting her bloody walls and ceilings due to water damage. All in a good cause I suppose 😁.

A real bod gig and scarper job on that kitchen. Often times kitchens look great at first look but then on closer examination, especially removing plinths and having a gander reveals a complete shit show of dodgy wiring and plumbing. Quite often especially with a newly tiled floor they will tile up to just beyond the plinth (to save tiles) which means you cannot just slide the fitted appliances out but have the annoying task to lift over the obstacle as you try and grunt it out, whereas a few tiles in way of the fitted appliances would have cost a few quid (maybe even effectively free if already bought and not used) to make future maintenance easy. Good for showing the mistake even though it was you paying the price for someone else’s poor pipe fitting practice, I thought your precautions were reasonable and a pipe finder thingamajig would have alarmed for all of the fixing points on that side. The only 100% way of guaranteeing not nipping them would have been to do a vertical chase to find them (starting at the bottom) - very cautiously. Well done and good video.😀⛵️

Fitted a digital one drench head and hand set ....pumps leaked twice and now digital display playing up ....new I should of stuck with aqualisa far better product .........I've told customer if it goes again I will replace it with an aqualisa one ..........don't bother with Triton ....
