Today I'll be sitting down and going through all 8 of the 2000 yard seasons and ranking them 8-1 to find out who had the most impressive season. This is just my opinion, and if you disagree I'd love to hear why in the comments.

I can understand basketball, but football is legitimately a team game. Doesn't matter how many touchdowns you run if the defense lets the other team score every time you do. To place a RB over another bc of TEAM SUCCESS is absolutely biased. Imagine running for 1500 yards every year of someone's career and having them ranked over you bc he has a better offense line, defense, quarterback, tight end, coach, GM, etc. That's crazy dude.

TD won the SB, Rushing title and MVP in the same season. TD is the only 2000+ yard rusher and 20+ Tds in the same season. TD has the most rushing yards plus playoffs in a single season with 2476. He had the greatest season for a 2000 yard rusher.

The worst is Terrell Davis. Barry had 50 yards after to games and went over 100 for 14 straight games. He was also tied with the highest yards per carry at 6.0.

2 things that weren't mentioned that i feel are very important are that Adrian Peterson tore his ACL the season before his 2000 yard season and came back in only 8 months to get to that threshold. Also i completely agree with OJ being at one with another major factor being while many of the backs on this list didn't gave good QBs OJ had the worst by far with his QB having only 73 completion's all season with 2 passing touchdowns and 10 interceptions. This meant teams didn't have to worry about the pass in the slightest and knew OJ was going to run yet still couldn't stop him.

From an individual standpoint, I think OJ's had to have been the most impressive due to him only doing it in 14 games. BUT, from a team winning concept, Terrell Davis's 98 season was not only the greatest 2000 yard season ever, but the greatest RB season ever, ALL things considered. That 98 Broncos squad was a top 10 all-time single season team, Davis won the league MVP and of course they basically cruised to a 2nd straight SB title. Also at 23:29, that's Mike Anderson, NOT Terrell Davis.

@tannermclaughlin5001 4 часа назад
If you include playoffs Terrell Davis has the most rushing yards in a season and the 2nd most ever in 1998 and 1997. And 1st and 3rd yards from scrimmage as well

Given your criteria, there is no way Terrell Davis is lower than OJ. OJ played one playoff game in his career. Without Davis, the Broncos do not win either of the back-to-back super bowls.

I will not debate anything other than by saying what Terrell Davis did. It was the least impressive… If you actually watch the games that season, you will see almost any running back would have got those yardage behind that offensive line. That said, I think the way this video was put together it was based on what’s on paper, so enjoy it.
@Riles3152
@Riles3152 10 месяцев назад
Terrell Davis literally was the biggest missing piece that got John Elway to back 2 back SB's to end his career, and it's not like he was a bum before this 98 season. He had 3 straight seasons of rushing for no less than 1,100 yards. The Broncos definitely had a great O-line and system for RB's, but nobody did as much with it, as TD. He was the ONLY guy in that backfield who cracked the 2K mark, and probably would have broke ED's record if the Broncos would have ran him more instead of resting him in the 2nd half of a number of those games due to blowouts. Other than Elway, TD was the MVP of those back 2 back SB winning Bronco teams.

All that matters is getting the ultimate prize at the end of the season with 2,000+ yards or it’s all for naught. Davis did it, none of the others could do it. End of the day, it’s about WINNING!

Let me make it easy for you: in 1998 Terrell Davis set the record for most combined yards, playoffs and regular season with 2476. He took the previous record of 2331 and obliterated it. That old record he set the previous year with his 1997 campaign. And if you want to tell me OJ Simpson did it in 14 games, well, we can play that game too. TD sat out 8 full regular season quarters because of blowout wins by his team in the 3rd and 4th quarter. In fact, he sat out in 3 more full quarters in blowout wins in his postseason games. Im sorry, but he's also the greatest postseason running back in history. If you add in his postseason numbers, hes the only running back in history aside from Jim Brown to average over 100.0 yards per game. Hes within two yards of Jim Brown.
@gameaterclankable2.197
@gameaterclankable2.197 8 месяцев назад
True, but Barry didn't rush over 50 yards his first two games. Put Davis on that team. I guarantee he doesn't get a 1,000 yards. And he played on Super bowl winning teams. You can't sit here and tell me he meant more to the team than Elway, Sharpe, the coach, etc. Every other player on this list WAS their team and would honestly have better stats if they played with him. Imagine game planning for a team with a Hall of Fame QB and TE and an overall good team, and then on top of that, a legit 1,000 rusher, ofc he's gonna have some good numbers. Not taking anything from him. And I know it was the 70s but man, 2000 yards.... in 14 games.... that's amazing.

All great RBs but Barry wasn't that great at the goal line. He lost yards a bit more often as well which hurt his stats. I think people want him to be the best because he is for sure the most fun to watch ever. Those deadly spins and jump-cuts seem superhuman. Iv'e met him and talked with him several times. His thighs are tree trunks. I made a top 10 RBs ever list and Put Sanders at #9. Probably the hardest top 10 list I ever made.

Remember “I” before “e” except after “c”. What’s cool is only one NFL team has ever had more than 1 player rush for over 1900 yards in a season, the Titans/Oilers, and they’ve had 3! That’s awesome to me. Sadly as well known as Derrick Henry and as other worldly talented he is for some reason people still continue to doubt him. If anyone thought a little old foot injury was going to change things amongst the top RB they are as foolish as the other 31 teams that let him fall all the way to the middle of the second round. Doubters see his size and immediately look at the number of carry’s and thus assume his reign will be coming to an end sooner rather than later. Not realizing he’s so deceptively fast he really avoids a lot of straight on hits. He is unique in that yes he’s by far the biggest back but he also has the highest top speed of any back able to bowl over linebackers and then outrun defensive backs. The man finished in the top 10 in rushing last year and he missed over half the games! lol that’s just absurd. If one of these new running backs want to take King Henry’s crown they’re going to have to come take it.

What playoff games was he watching? Henry put up historical numbers in the playoffs. Until last season and to be honest after missing that many games to expect him to come out in a playoff game and just go right back to dominating it is a lot to ask. Not to mention he had better playoffs than most these guys. This is to me another sad case of people assuming “well it happened long ago so it must have been better”. That’s why you can’t turn on a baseball greatest catches countdown and not see Willie Mays over the shoulder catch at #1. It was nowhere near the best ever there have been multiple guys since that who have alone had a couple catches better than that one (ie Jim Edmonds or Andrew Jones). Everybody in the stadium knew who was getting the ball and he faced more 8 men in the box than anyone and he still ran all over them.
