I think Fanatics buying MZ is a really good thing! They already did the topps/Metazoo chrome set, so thry are familiar with the IP, and also shows they must see something in it! Also, I feel like whatever the cost is, its probably pretty low for a mega company like fanatics! Also....... I just bought an 8 box lot from ebay for like $250!! I just rrally beleive in the Keromi set! Every young girl I show it to makes thwm all get so happy! If only all sanrio fans knee of their existence!

Fanatics makes a lot of sense. They would just roll the IP into topps who they acquired from Madison Dearborn partners a few years ago. So topps would be taking over.

Thanks for the update! We can rule out Rudy from Alpha Investments, for sure. He's been adamant that it's not possible for him due to the time commitment and tainting of the brand, though admitted the thought did occur to him.

The list of people who would want just the IP and not the product is very limited imo. So it would make sense for a company that would go on to make their own cards or whatever would want it separate.

After getting into Metazoo in the summer of 2021, my current expectations are very low. I've never sold anything and loved it for the Cryptids from the beginning. People need to see the toxic aspect as Mike and not as Metazoo the IP. Not expecting the biggest comeback, just a good product for the fans to enjoy for coming years.

It would be very interesting if Gamestop was involved.

If it's fanatics they already own topps, would make sense given their prior relationship to them with the chrome and series 0 sets but I think that's still a pipe dream and not realistic

It's gonna take a lot of work from the new owner just to get MZ back to where it was before it went bankrupt. A lot of people have moved on and probably aren't interested in giving it a second chance now that they've been burned. Not just collectors, but players, vendors, distributors etc.

Given the current collectibles and TCG market, and how tried and true brands are struggling right now. What hope does anyone have that metazoo will ever be able to capture any market share? It was a perfect time and place situation when it happened, the world is A LOT different place now.
