Who is Cliff Grimoire? Mushoku Tensei Explained 

Some of my favorite parts of the novels are when Rudy, Cliff and Zenoba are hanging out drinking lol. They are as great a trio as the 3 Musketeers and the 3 Stooges. I'm really looking forward to seeing them animated.

The story of Oldeus' timeline Cliff shows how much of a good friend he's to Rudi. Even though he was a priest of Millis he agreed to help Rudi broke into the church's HQ to steal a treasure of the church to save Rudi's second wife( Millis forbid polygamy). Truly a good bro.

Wow. The intro made me realize theat so many LNs dont even give their MC's a guy best friend. Zanoba and Cliff are honestly so well rounded and are amazingly great friends

If I'm going to honest, when his first introduce in the University arc I thought his going to be a rival type character for Rudy, like they would compete with each other for academic performances/maybe magic battle. In the end he becomes a big brother type figure for Rudy

What is so great about Zanoba and Cliff is that they complement Rudeus's downsides. His lustful nature is held back by Cliff, while Zanoba's love for sculpting and creation is something that fuels Rudeus's own passions. Rudeus is great at offensive magic, but Cliff actually has him beat in terms of support magic (detox, healing, barriers, etc). Rudeus physically isn't as powerful as the rest of the cast, whereas Zanoba was blessed with an extremely durable and powerful body.

Definitely a favorite character I like the friendship the 3 have, hanging out at the bar every once in a while, giving each other advice and praise, but developing something in their own lives when apart. It reminds me of my friendship

Cliff when you first meet him, one of the most annoying people ever, cliff a couple of years later, one of the best friends you could ever have.

"I like it when an isekai has Platonic friendships with other men" When Subaru carried Julius down the Staircase in Arc 6, and Reid looks down at them saying maybe not too late for that knight after all. Julius being one of Subaru's closest male friends was interesting considering how bad of a start they had. It's like what Otto, Garf, Julius, and then way down the line its Vincent and Roswaal fighting for second to last place in what Subaru considers a real friend.

According to the light novel, it's Cliff's grandmother who is a halfling, not his mother. That makes him probably a... "quarter-halfling"? Instead of a "half-halfing", I guess.

I really love Cliff, he is such an interesting character! You are absolutely right, he is such a twat in the beginning, but there is more to him. I mean, it takes a real man to be able to handle Elinalise and not feel all insecure. Another great point you make is that the characters develop, but their essential personalities don't change, which is one thing I absolutely love about this story.

Gdamn your final bit at the end about his character journey is remarkable. I couldn’t tell why I got to like him over time but he’s basically a reversal of Rudy’s flaws.

Imagine if Cliff doesn’t get animated in the OVA. Would suck. Also Hitogami is basically like go find a flower and that will help you find a person lol. Cliff is more understanding than most guys out there. He kind of sounds like Despa from Ranking of Kings or some other narcissism type characters

I love Cliff and Zenoba so much. They add so much to the story to make it interesting. I think turning point 4 version of Cliff displays how loyal a friend he was to Rudy and it just made him so endearing to me.

I think one of the more substantial aspects of your videos in comparison to other content creators on RU-vid is the way you edit or rather lack of over editing. When I watch your videos I always get a complete paragraph with no apparent cuts. I get a disconnect when I watch a clip that chops up the natural flow of speech, I think because even when you don't speak you are sending a message to whomever you are engaged with. Anyway I hope you keep doing things this way.

One of my theories in regards to Elinalise's curse is that it isn't one. Or rather, it works due to her bones having magic circles carved into them to make her curse function.

Apparently Eris calls out to Cliff when Rudy is laying dead. Maybe there’s a few more minutes of content where we see more of Eris’s POV. I wouldn’t discount extra content in a few episodes or maybe an even less censored scene with Elinalise

I like cliff he is a boss he turns Elinalise in to a true wife she was always a loving mother and grandmother just never given a chance and cliff is that 1 in the group how says guys this may be a bad idea but this do it anyway every group needs a cliff and he shows that Elinalise is more than just haha horrny elf but that her backstory actually has a lot pain and hurt not like i like i said haha horrny elf cliff and Elinalise relationship is adorable they actually love each other a lot

I have just one protest about this part of the story. Why did Roxy sent Elinalise? I don't think, knowing Rudeus, that that would be a wise decision... The author put them together just because he had ED and would be funny.

Mushoku Tensei has some of the best writing out of any LN ever written. It's not even debatable. I'd go as far as to say it's the Japanese Lord of the Rings.

Honestly he is such a dork. But he reminds me of a friend I have so its hard not to like him.

There are things so much worse than goblins in Goblin Slayer but the Protagonist has P.T.S.D and I'm a bit surprised Ruijerd didn't find Eris and tell her the misunderstanding with Rudy but I guess Sylphiette wouldn't have a chance in that case and Zenith and Cliff could of had a mother son relationship if she could talk since she's also a follower of Millis

"Cuzz I'm a genius" - Cliff "Ara. Of course. I know you are, love" - Lise "Get a room!" - Rudeus ------ On a side note, I've mentioned that I'm into Tensei shit a slime. I'm about halfway through volume 13 and I think I may have tripped into the WN stage (coupled with google translate). That aside, Tensei Slime is really bad writing, Fuze breaks all the authorship rules; like ALL of them. The anime is about the best version you'll get, and even then they couldn't separate Rimuru from his Mary Sewery. V3 was filled with drivel to "justify" a full volume; while V13 is just a steaming pile. If you want case studies in how not to write a fun story, I offer Tensei Slime, and Arifureta (the writing is almost as good as the anime CGI, and actually gets worse after the god dies); Pupil of the Wise Man, was another story that sucked, it sucked enough that I quit reading. If you want to study a good story written well, Mushoku Tensei, and... well, Overlord never kicked me off the page (aside from the sycophantry), so it wasn't bad. And while the anime went off the rail several times, So I'm a Spider, kept me reading with rare cursing at the author. Lots of info was cut from the anime, most notably why she was called the "Nightmare of the Labyrinth", when she was well below the levels that the humans traversed; namely a skill she picked up called fearbringer, which chased her prey to the upper levels and out of the labyrinth. There's a lot of bad writing out there. There's a lot of good stories that suffer under said bad writing. One thing that I've found amusingly consistent though, is the concept of "Hero". Whatever story they're in, these poor SOB's really get shafted in the character department, and nine times outta ten, they become the foil for the protagonist, because the protag is often considerably more realistic in their view of the world. Hell, Arifureta has the quintessential Hero, and he just can't catch a break; Hajima unwittingly takes all of his potential Harem (which he wouldn't have known what to do with) members, and posse; the only girl who remains tragically loyal to him, turns out to be a villain who's willing to kill him to keep him. Most important life lesson in all of this... Never... Ever... be a Japanese Hero.

Wow I have never heard of anyone describing '3 way', as a friendship between men. LOL. As much as I like learning about Cliff I would like to hear more about Zenobia. The moment I saw the Moe haircut prince who was infatuated with Roxy's figurine I knew I would like him. He is such an otaku that I can't believe he isn't isekai'd into this world like Rudeus is. I am happy that he is out on adventures himself. I know he has immense (inhuman) strength but would like to know the reason for this. Just imagining a dorky looking otaku who has Juggernaut like strength is funny and I wonder how many people underestimate him.

When you said Rudeus Hasn't met Lynia and Pursena yet, He literally did. Like hes the one that saved them from Smugglers, He was there with Eris and they clearly saw him. They even had a doll of him. Do they just not recognize each other? Will they recognize Eris? When they Recognize Eris will they recognize Rudeus?
