Wish I'd caught this live... regarding coaching, I always use the comparison example of Bela Karolyi, and gymnastics.... he coached literally dozens of gymnasts to gold medals on podiums at the Olympics and World Championships, and I guarantee he never did a double back, balance beam flips, etc... being a great coach is independent of being an athlete. Certainly it can help, especially with "feeling" and muscle memory of "it should feel like when you do "... but ultimately with enough experience coaching athletes of various levels, that can be learned shared knowledge regardless of personal experience.
Maybe a good question to pose on a future episode might be if there should be a minimum work requirement during semifinals or the games. I've heard Froning say that he thinks there should be (he is of this opinion because of what happened with Alex Caron last year during semifinals) and I've also heard Fikowski say that he thinks there should not be any minimum work requirement. Just a suggestion. I'll watch this regardless of the topics cause I find these discussions really interesting. I appreciate the work! 😉
The question is, "Who is the GOAT of Crossfit," meaning pick any athlete you want. The question is are there female and male GOATs or one GOAT across the board. These guys answered the question of who is the most influential person in Crossfit instead
Seth gave an answer for your question. They all answered my question, per the notes they received. Sorry you’re butthurt. Hiller and Spin would both choose Froning if that helps you sleep better tonight
The GOAT of CrossFit - did not specifically say the CrossFit Games… Dave is absolutely the greatest person of all time in CF… GG aside… The fact that all participants didn’t even bother to engage in picking an athlete arbitrarily should say something. Greatest CF athlete: Tia Most important CF athlete: Rich Those are my answers for those questions.
@jumpshiptraining GOAT of Crossfit feels like its implied Crossfit Games? Maybe I'm misinterpreting the word GOAT in this case. I was thinking of GOAT in a sports definition, so MJ/LeBron, Brady, Gretzky, etc.
@CoffeePodsAndWods You must be upset your home insulation wasn't completed before you got home to produce this live because at no point was I butt hurt. I was just reacting to the video you posted. You can always agree to disagree with my opinion.
Yeah no I never officially done CrossFit and I know who Castro is from watching the documentaries and so wouldn’t say most maybe senior citizens who just joined to get moving but people who follow the sport would know
Dave as the goat? The inventor of the sport isn’t the goat. If it’s what made the games huge was a dominant figure like Froning or Annie. Sports struggle when they don’t have a figure at the center that isn’t part of management. David stern, Roger Goodell, even Dana White are not the goat of their sport. It’s the athletes that propel it forward. Who are on the posters and advertisement… not Dave. That was terrible.
