I am on my FOURTH jury service since 2004. Now I am 70, and retired, I quite enjoy being secluded in the courthouse with a bunch of strangers, off the cellphone/e.mail grid where my editor, my husband, my pain in the butt niece, and my neighbors cannot reach me...And while the process and actual juror service is actually quite interesting (not to mention essential to a functional democracy), I was annoyed when they kept sending summonses to my mother. She died of Alzheimer's at 95 -- back in 2017. Even after sending them her death certificate we actually still kept getting notices 'Failure to Appear.." Well, maybe not so smart, eh??
