An I-TEAM analysis of five years of traffic stop data from the Florida Highway Patrol shows the proportion of stops of Black drivers in northeast Florida and statewide is higher than their proportions of the overall population.
Speaking as a retired Florida State Trooper, I can tell you I did not stop "people" specific drivers, I stopped "violators". The huge majority of my stops and citations were to Caucasian males.
@Eugrne Jacson and you're SURE it had nothing to do with attitude or with history? Sounds like you're the lazy one since a specific example could be assessed and that would take EFFORT
@Eugrne Jacson by the way, to demonstrate that, you wouldn't need a specific example or "video" But ignorance is bliss right? All you have to do is show that race is exclusively the ONLY factor. But thinking actually seems difficult huh?
These officers have been doing great even though they were not properly paid compared to their counterparts across the country. They have been cronicaly under staffed, this has been my agenda for five years. When my opponent, the current Governor of Florida discovered my agenda and recently substantially increased their pay, that's good, however they still need...
There is a huge difference between state troopers and local police. There is some profiling because, those drug interdiction only occur hundreds of times...not 10s of thousands. In the grand scheme of policing, they are several fold better that local PD as a whole.
That made lol literally..... Troopers learn how to tow cars and investigate accidents thats it bro. They dont do drugs, guns, stolen cars unless their in a specialized unit otherwise their AAA with a badge come to terms with that. So the difference being local cops do police work state cops do accident and tickets. And btw profiling is exactly what LE do every day! Its called doing ur job and making the criminal population smaller to u. Done every day and perfectly legal!
@DANTE BELGIAN MALINOIS Really, you just posted this. You said "that made lol literally" then basically came to the same conclusion...troopers are better than LE . Are you trolling me
@@SirNic4180 guess you didn't take statistics, or foundations of logic. The its utterly legitimate that the vast majority of drivers arent seen until the cop walks up. They cant see YOU with xray vision from behind. You also skipped out on the fact that none of these stops are being questioned as illegitimate. So all those people, regardless of race, actually did something to be pulled over.
FHP will stop anyone who is speeding. I remember getting stopped in Hamilton county right on the border running about 90 or so. I saw him pull out so I pulled over and waited for him . That little bit of courtesy got me a warning. Oh yeah I’m black. I don’t really think it matters out on the highway. They hide and catch whoever speeds. I even got caught from the air once and a trooper stopped me when I passed him. Got a ticket that time but I’m sure it was because the plane clocked me not because of my race. Stop with the race baiting. If you habitually speed on the interstate especially in more rural areas you will eventually get stopped by FHP regardless of race
@@blacksmoke3113 exactly I got caught from the air once. No way they could make out my color from up there. Neither could the trooper on the ground until he walked up to my vehicle. This sounds like a whole lot of nothing being made into something
The same people who don't have driver's licenses as often, also break other driving rules _more_ often. It's not rocket science. Learn to obey the law!
@@rickeedavenport3779 Nope, not at all, cops can't see who they're pulling over from behind. They look at driving behavior. When I was a young man, a new driver, I got pulled over ALL the time. But that doesn't happen anymore.
@@rickeedavenport3779 Since they let you off, it's obviously not because you were driving while black. If they were racist and intent on getting you a ticket, they would have. After all, they can always find something to give you a ticket for. Sounds like they were extra lenient to you. Why don't you imagine the opposite, they pulled you over, saw that you were black, and decided to be lenient?
@@rickeedavenport3779 here, I can't host the link because RU-vid doesn't want me to, but read this article: "Study Suggests Racial Gap In Speeding In New Jersey" < Traffic cameras were shown to have the same supposed bias.
@@richardscranton4159 wait, so u want u to "dumb" it down for you? If u took CRT, you critical thinking skills would be way up, but noooo, u said no, and now can't comprehend simple stuff ..... gtfoh
@@SirNic4180 I’m not mad at all, I’m genuinely concerned for our society. Does no one remember Dr. King saying we should judge people not by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I think we all need to come together and stop buying into this stuff
I don't think FHP or JSO is doing a very good good job when it comes to stopping speeders!! Especially when just about every JSO I see isn't obeying the speed limit!! I think most drivers feel like why should they obey the speed limit when law enforcement doesn't!!
everywhere in FL everyone drives 15-20 mph over so it really isnt no surprise at all. they only pull over people going faster then the speed of traffic unless it is a speed trap
Not true cops hunted me for about 8 years and even though I have done some speeding in my life time I actually never was caught when I was actually speeding! But for the know 8 years I was being hunted I never once speeded because I had a real old truck and it wasn’t able to go over fifty miles per hour! And the 10 mile stretch of road where I got everyone of my speeding ticket the speed limit was fifty five miles per hour! I had balloonie tires on rear of truck without leaf springs! Tires were my only relief from bumps in the road, any bump in the road the tires would start bouncing and not stop until I dropped to very low speed! If I would go fifty five miles per hour the first bump in the road I’d lose control and be in ditch! Because I had to travel that route twice a week I was literally doing only thirty to forty miles per hour to make sure: 1. I wouldn’t bounce off the road. 2. I wouldn’t get speeding tickets….. however no matter my caution the cops would pull me over and write me for 70 in a 55… then they impounded my truck and while truck was in the impounded yard someone put marijuana or reefer within my little tool bag I kept in the truck….. I’m sure the wrecker driver didn’t put it there! One day I had to drag out my tool bag to make a repair and I then found the bag of marijuana in with the tools! I gave that away but the next time I was pulled over the cop went directly to the the tool bag looking for something…. Should have seen his face pissed right off for sure! So No just driving the speed limit wouldn’t keep you from get a ticket!
I would want to know how many stops were out of state people....or even out of county people....people that would rather pay fine than try n fight the ticket because it would be impossible or too expensive to fight....see what the amount of fought over tickets were compared to just rollin over n payin fine....what was the amount of revenue gained and where the money went I mean...come on man...do some real investigating...stoopid news people
Yea, the Trooper can tell what state or country their in half a mile back while running radar...... right. Is ur brain under developed or something or maybe ur just stupid which is it Dave?
Just sayin give more info....and yes....cops can tell out of state tags from a distance....aint that hard... If they write a lot more tickets toward one group over another....a bias can be assumed
Their claim they can't see the driver in the vehicle is utter BS. So I guess every car in Florida including semis are so heavily tinted they should ALL be pulled over for tint violation then Lying sobs.
You can see the race of every single speeder on a state highway or interstate? Especially at night or dawn/dusk? You must have perfect vision, if not super human.
