VIDEO: The Florida Highway Patrol says many drivers are still either ignoring or forgetting the Move Over Law and failing to move over or slow down when they see a state trooper working on the side of a road.
I have had 100s of close calls im a tow truck operator in tampa bay area florida the worst places for me are Sunshine Skyway and the Veterans Expressway plus the Suncoast Parkway very scary feeling to be loading a vehicle and feel a passing car come by me at 70 plus miles an hour
They should try to come up with a better way of getting this info out to the public. I never knew this was the law until now. There are signs that say "Move Over For Emergency Vehicles. It's The Law" but I took those to mean get out of the way when any emergency vehicle is coming up behind you.
If you break down at night, get away from the car !! There's drivers that can't see at night, they only see your tail lights and think you're moving. I've seen bad drivers run into flashing car lights 10 feet off the road. Right now put an UNOPENED flashlight package and batteries in your glovebox, they will last years. Go back down the road and wave a warning to oncoming cars.
POPJack1717 and what you’re supposed to do is walk around the back of the patrol car when approaching the car you pulled over and walking back to your patrol car
If you look at 1:02 they’re parked right up against a barrier, and if the car was hit while they were standing on that side they’d be crushed, that is if they could even squeeze in there to begin with.
From what I've seen in my state (Utah) they do passenger side approaches, our speed limits are higher too but in the city areas there is usually a pretty wide shoulder.
Same with California. CHP is trained tobget out, face oncoming traffic, walk around the back of their vehicle and then to passenger side of other vehicle. Do ticket/other info from passenger side, then when stop or anything they're doing is complete. Walk to back of vehicle, watch and wait for traffic, then go and get in. That way they wont be walking around a door that may be partially opened still as its closing or they're opening it. They arent going between vehicles where if the patrol car is hit they could be pinned between vehicles
The Supreme Court on Pennsylvania v Mimms said an officer can order you out of the car "for officer safety" which is true only if the officer suspects you're carrying a weapon and might use it. Otherwise such an order endangers the motorist without giving the officer any safety.
‼️ IF YOU’RE ON A BUSY ROAD YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO WALK AROUND THE BACK OF THE PATROL CAR UP THE PASSENGER SIDE OF YOUR PATROL CAR AND THE CAR YOU STOPPED ‼️ ‼️ SAME GOES WHEN YOU GO BACK TO YOUR PATROL CAR ‼️
You're 'SUPPOSED TO' ? Says who?? It's taught as an option but an officer makes the approach that he/she is comfortable with on each traffic stop. And I probably should know because I've got more time in the coffee shop than you've been alive! 🇺🇸🚔👮♂️
i remember being a kid always seeing these big hunks as police officers hiring her just makes it a joke what kind of threat can she stop? she can barely take care of herself
HOLLYWOOD STAR so because she’s small in stature, she’s unable to serve properly? She seems to take her job seriously. LEO work isn’t about “stopping threats” or “taking out” the bad guys, it’s much more than that. She wouldn’t be a trooper if higher-ups thought her to be unfit.
Florida First Responders the Florida PAT is extremely easy. I passed FHP training and was morbidly obese. If you look at cops on West Coast of US. They look like soldiers. It’s how most people expect an officer to look. The problem IS the people in charge (lawmakers, politicians, FHP brass). I don’t want her as my 10-94 unit. Sorry.
I remember the move over laws go into effect in 2008. I spoke about it on NBC 2 News from I-75 any the 35 mm S/B in June '08. I had to explain the difference in the fine for not moving over when it clear to do so verses not slowing down if you couldn't. The former was abt $140, the latter abt $130.
@@xxJayJattxx id like to think that but i dunno... 5ft2 110lbs trying to control a 250lb 6ft man... good luck... troopers dont have close backup either...
Right before stuart exit at the weight staion going south there was a traffic jam and it was raining the driver said f this im citting through tje grass. Long behold we sank at the midle of it. He got the other guy. And hell man b4 the jupiter, indian town exit there is a big sign saying the move over law...
Why do cops always feel the need to dramatize the dangers of the job as if it is the only dangerous job out there? It isn't even the most dangerous job, it is a better paying dangerous job.
What f---ing job do you do?? All dangerous jobs are dangerous for certain reasons. As for being a "better paying" dangerous job, you are about as ignorant as I've ever come across. People like you are why most people still support post birth abortion!!
It's this easy , pull over to the left and in the other countries pull over to the right!!!! Stop making this a big deal , not doing this makes you look dumb to some!!!!!!
yeah I want to move over you all chase him down for crossing the line and give him a ticket there's a lot of those on these RU-vid's of police officer pulling them over for moving over for the officer to be safe then turn around right in my damn hundred dollar tickle ticket
Actually the Supreme Court ruled that police are NOT here to "protect" us. That is not their job. Lol if ur relying on them for protection ur a sitting duck
2:13 His tie didnt even move😎 and going home is not youre job girl thats just emo talk.. You actually know what is dangerous? Doing 50mph in a parkinglot🤔
