It is often said that " oh you saved my life" . In my case its fact, I was in the depths of Post Traumatic Stress after my military service. I could not cultivate any interests other than how to end my life without it embarrassing my family. I found a copy of the first book and started to follow the youtube talks. I suddenly found myself developing a passion for elegance and redeveloped my self in accordance with my new found passion. The more i became immersed in the world of sartorial elegance the more I found myself wanting to live, wanting to explore. For this both my family and I will be forever grateful.

During this lockdown in London, Ive been watching your videos over the last 5 days and especially your video on Tweed (watched some months back was fanastic) you have inspired me to get a Tweed Suit made by Walker Slater (walked past the beautiful store last May 2019). If honest I had a poor mentality for spending on clothing goods as not a Wealthy man currently. However I am not poor so can save up and get tailored and maybe even Bespoked to a degree. I needed to be shown that British Bespoke is not the only true tailoring and that French and Italian styles are very elegant too. However i believe Monsieur Hugo Jacomet you are a Modern Day Hero (As the legenary folktale writer Joesph Campbell) you take us on Adventures and become our Teacher, Master or Guardian during this adventures. I believe and many others you give us the licence to Dream and thus be Inspired to envisage a New Future for us Men and Women too. As you speak in this video I struggle at times to listen to what you say because I’m struck by the fabric of your jacket. And as you speak of the artisans who work long days to craft the products they create, I think of the many different people who produce and dye the wool and create the wonderful different weaves. What a wonderful collaboration your jacket is. The way the seams of your collar come together with such precision and the drape of the fabric... so much talent and knowledge must take its turn to result in the jacket created to fit you and you alone. So many elements must merge seamlessly to make the wearer worthy of the tailor, to make the tailor worthy of the fabric, to make the weaver worthy of the shepherd who maintains the flocks and the fields. To wear such garments should be a humbling experience, but I applaud you for I know you give dignity to the process. Bravo 👏

Hi Hugo, I watch your RU-vid videos quite diligently. I am working in Shanghai, and there quite a few great tailors here, all doing bespoke that you should also visit. The history of bespoke tailoring in Shanghai has gone back for more than a hundred years till the cultural revolution kind of put it on hold for a couple of decades or more. I made my suit in Huntsman as well as Anderson Shepard but I also find great tailors in Shanghai that truly are just as good, but not as famous.

Being a working musician/creative myself I would love to know if music influenced your style journey? It definitely did for me in regards to Jazz and Trad/Ivy clothing, and specifically being born the UK where the influence from the Modernist subculture was a big impact on me. I think music and style kind of go hand in hand, but would love to know your thoughts 🙂

You're such an inspirational talker! My mind gets filled with a whirlwind of emotions and associations listening to you. So many things to do and experience, so much beauty to behold, be it our outer shell, the craft of making it or the labyrinths of our minds. That's quite something, and you're a drummer, it can't possibly get any better than that. We have an old Swedish word "ämabel" (modern "älskvärd") which I think is a direct import from the French adjective "aimable". Too long ago since I studied French in high scool, so not 100% sure the meaning is the same anymore, but to me that's very fitting.
