Who is Image Comics "The Darkness?" Ancient Raw Power

"The Darkness" is literally the edgiest thing you could possibly name a character.

Fun fact: batman was actually the one who convinced Jackie to become a better person by turning franky into the cops which is what lead to his girlfriend being killed. I wonder how bad Batman feels about unintentionally causing the death of Jackie’s girlfriend.

The Darkness, Fathom and Witchblade got me into comics. Once I developed a love for them, my dad revealed that he also love comics, he showed me his collection of a ton of Golden and Silver age Marvel comics, and a ton of other old DC comics. It was amazing, I love my dad, and how he kept his collection from me until I found comics on my own.

I just came upon this to learn more about the video game. Now i’m finding out “The Darkness” fought DC Superheroes. This is badass and needs to be a movie.

This would make a sick movie. If the Spawn movie is a hit, this is going to get a Hollywood fast track.

He’s one of my favorite non marvel or DC characters, which are Bloodshot, Spawn, and Dredd. I also want to see him crossover with Alex Mercer.

Whenever I look at Jackie in his Darkness armor, I think to myself, "Is this what Nightwing would look like if he were Spawn?"

This is one of the american comics that I can respect as an idea. The power of this thing is to do/create ANYTHING his wearer wants, but doesn't come with an instruction manual. The problem becomes the wearer. With his doubts, insecurities and subconsciousness. The fact that he's not omnipotent (even if he could) is woven INTO the story, unlike 99% of the DC characters where the author has to make the people "forget" what they can do to have a story that makes a lick of sense. You feel like this thing is dark and evil, and can summon treacherous little bloodthirsty monsters that cannot wait to stab you in the back? DONE. You suspect that it has a will of its own, and wants to use you for evil? DONE. Enjoy a dark personification of your power that taunts you and tries to trick you. You think it can make you a god? DONE. The protagonist has been giving more than one hint at the fact that it's actually a formless, aimless, infinite source of whatever you want. Kinda hard to silence your subconscious/imagination after you involuntarily created your own problems. A part of you will always suspect that it's out to get you, and doesn't completely listen to you. And so it does.

So darkness is literally a mixture of Green Lantern & Venom

i so wish they'd do a Spawn/The Darkness crossover and not like the Medieval Spawn and Witchblade crossover i mean one with the main characters, Al Simmons Spawn meets Jackie Estacado The Darkness, ones a mobster one kills mobsters so their reason for fighting is right there. it would be so AWESOME!!!!

You didn't mention much about Jackie and Sarah's relationship, and how it produced Hope. Along with the Broken Trinity series, that stuff was fairly important. But awesome movie overall.

Hello darkness my old friend

I just looked it up and The Darkness's power source is actually The Great Darkness, the living primordial darkness before creation that is a force in DC Comics that is reawakening and finally back in play for the first time since the 1980s Swamp Thing story. We're finding out that while The Great Darkness was dormant since the first Crisis, several pieces of itself, at least one we know of so far confirmed, have broken off from it and entered reality. Four others they insinuated could be pieces at the end of Infinite Frontier are The Empty Hand from Multiversity, The Upside-Down Man, Nekron, and The Dark Heart of Eclipso. With The Great Darkness we awakened they made it very clear that all four of those villains will be back into play in the next big event they're working towards next year. And now with the DC Multiverse being an entire Omniverse of Multiverses now as of the end of Death Metal I wouldn't be surprised if because of where the spine story of DC lore just arrived at, as of the conclusion of Infinite Frontier, that we don't see this guy again in DC Comics in the near future, maybe even as another key player in the coming event.

My dad had all the comic books, i was reading them when i was a kid

Image really didn't quite grasp that its not always the powers of a character that make them interesting, but how they over come their weaknesses. Having a character that is so powerful that 99% of their enemies have no hope of winning kind of makes them boring. Look at Pre Crisis superman vs Spider-man at the same time.

Imagine a pick up line like that, "Aye girl, so we don't mutually destroy each other, let me hit it..."

We should bring a team together to bring light to the darkness series and give it the fame that it deserves

Pretty beast, I used to watch witchblade on IFC as a kid, and played the game alittle around the same time. Never had a clue they shared the same universe. This blew my mind to kingdom come 🤯

I alway thought Darkness was cool. I never read the comic or played the game, so I never knew how powerful he was or his connection to WitchBlade. You should do Grendel, though I don't know if he's from DC/Malibu or Dark Horse comics.
