The best player has the world ever seen. Being anonymous for its majority does mean nothing. Blame USSR and his passionate and unconditional love for Iraklis FC for that. en.wikipedia.or...
It isn't obvious from the poor quality of the pictures here but he actually tried to score directly from every corner he took. In 1982/83 he scored 7 goals straight from corners, just incredible.
The legend has it (according to a narrative supposedly by Vasia himself during an interview) that in an away match against the Greek giant Olympiakos, Vasia was unstoppable- at a whole another level. Then, shortly before the end of the match, the Olympiakos' captain approached Vasia and told him in awe and despair: "Vasia, what a game you are having today". Vasia smiled and then came the final straw, where the captain asked for the unheard: "Can't you slow down a little bit? You have humiliated us!" Then, the stunned journalist asked Vasia: "And what did you do?" Vasia lowered his head and said, very humbly: "I stopped playing..." 😊😊 PS: from an Olympiacos fan.
The Music perfectly depicts this Greek tragedy. They literally hid a living legend from the rest of the world, all because Iraklis FC wanted to keep him for themselves.
WE'RE TALKING ABOUT A PLAYER WHO REPEATEDLY SCORED GOALS DIRECTLY FROM CORNER KICKS!!! THE MATERIAL THAT EXISTS DOES NOT DO HIM JUSTICE. IF HE HAD BEEN BORN IN ARGENTINA OR BRAZIL THE WHOLE WORLD WOULD HAVE KNOWN HIS NAME. HE IS PROBABLY ONE OF THE BEST FIVE PLAYERS IN THE WORLD IN MY MIND. PELE, MARADONA, MESSI (IN WHATEVER ORDER YOU WANT) AND THEN HADJIPANAGIS. BETTER THAN RIVELINO, KRUYF, ZIDANE, GEORGE BEST ETC. SOMETHING LIKE A GARINCIA DRIBBLER WITH VISION IN THE FIELD OF A PLATINI ROLLED IN ONE.
@@antibieber9193return it's not overhype. That player you see in the video, was one of a kind. Just by watching the video, you can tell the guy was an amazing player. You don't have to be genius to recognize his qualities as a player. He looks exactly like Messi with the ball on his feet.
@@stergiosserres6680 No, he doesn't look EXACTLY like Messi, and he's in the greek league. He's skillful, but not a top 3 ever. There were lots of players like this that are barely known and people claiming they are better than Messi, and that's not true.
He came as a Greek who was born in the USSR and came with particular papers, and didn't have the right to change team and go to other Greek clubs, to go outside of Greece to play, or to play for the Greek national team. (only had one appearance in the end, after the paperwork was settled in a way). Also, when he was 22 he had injury andhad to go to hospital for the injury in london and the doctor was also doctor of Arsenal, so, when he recovered he trained a little with the first team of Arsenal and Arsenal was approached the Greek team and said they are interested to sign him and the Greek team refused ( he had a very brutal contract, it was a 2 year contact, but on the back of the page it said that after the end of the contract an additional 10 years the team can renew year-by-year by a one-sided decision without the player having the ability to break the contract!) Yeah, crazy, a crazy case.
@@innosanto damn that’s so f’d but that was a great comment and rly informative, if only the paper work coulda been settled he would’ve been a super star for Greece and whatever club he’d go too.
I came for Hatzipanagis and stayed for him playing football under the "Moonlight Sonata". Incredible skills! What the greek football federation did to this man is outrageous.
Amazing player! Way ahead of his time. What a pity that he was surrounded by very mediocre players and played for a small team. Today he would be one the world's greatest with millions in his bank accounts.
you couldnt marked him tightly, for this you thought that they are not real defender. the older saids that, he was the only who could dribles in a telephone box
@@antibieber9193return Both the same class player. The only thing is Maradona had an international career and Vasia for some reasons I don't know he stayed in Greece.
Πολύ μεγάλος παίχτης. Όσοι τον είδαμε, καταλαβαίνουμε ότι και το βίντεο δεν αποδίδει την πλήρη εικόνα. Αλλά μη λέμε και μαλακίες του στυλ "who is messi". Γιατί δες και τα highlights του messi που είναι από άλλο πλανήτη
You say that, but I'd love to see Messi against defenders who are willing to break a players legs, whilst running on a pitch that is impossibly bad, with a football twice as heavy and with leather boots weighing him down. AND no steroids to increase his size
Real? He played in the era where defense was born. The last great defender was probably Alessandro Nesta. Light years ahead of every defender of recent.
Well, you saw a bit of his greatness. He would do the same things with AEK,Panathinaikos or Olympiakos and he would it in every match.Unstoppable•just ask Iraklis Supporters and they'll tell you the same.
Was also European Champion with the USSR (Usbekistan), and won decisively (5-0) against Dynamo Kiev, while Dynamo Kiev has just won the Champions´ League against Bayern Munich (the Champions´ League was called differently back then)... When he left the USSR, he was considered the 2nd best Soviet player, and even played in the "world´s best selection". Also several direct corner goals, even 6 in a single season. This compilation shows nothing, you should watch others.

Don't you think Messi plays just like him? Messi plays almost identical to this great player. Only one difference. Messi plays for Barcelona and gets all the exposure, and this great player, played for Heraklis (small Greek team) from mid 70s and retired I think around 1991 (I think).
It's easy to forget legends like Vassilis these days because of all the hype surrounding pussi and cristina. Please give credit where it's due. Do not compare players of different eras because that is just ludicrous. Grow a brain cell and be sensible.
this guy had offers from arsenal, unter, stutgart, porto, ajax... but football was dufferent back then.. he had a 2 year contract with his greek team and also after 2 years the team could signed him every year for 10 more years without asking him... u proppably too young
You don't have to be genius to see his skills, and how identical Messi plays. Just cause he didn't play in England, Spain , Italy, or Germany, doesn't mean he was not exceptional.
Go ask Arsenal first team that made offer to sign him after him training briefly with the first team of Arsenal at age 22 (after recovering from injury). Or the USSR who had the player in National first team at age 20.
@@CodyTheBananaManGamingMusic say that to Arsenal first team that briefly trained with him when he was 22 (after recovering from injury he had gone to hospital in london for operation) and Arsenal asked the Greek team to sign him. It is a very specific story, he was son of refugees, so the greek team arranged to leave ussr but did a dictator-like contract.
