Her face radiates wholesomeness. The personal life of anyone usually affects their work in some ways. Innocence needs to be protected. The movie industry can be just too hard on a person's spiritual life. She was one of a kind. Thanks for sharing this! USA

What an absolute angel of a beauty she was. It’s a shame that although talented, beautiful and charismatic, the Hollywood machine was not suited to her personality, and it contributed to her illnesses and her way too early death. RIP Pier.

The narrator asked the question if her life would have been different and better had she chosen to be with James Dean. Based on a Hollywood history perspective the answer is no, probably not. She was in the wrong place to have a satisfying life. She had a very low probability of meeting her “soulmate”.. she would probably have had better chance away from Hollywood, maybe closer to her sister or mother. Just my humble opinion.

Her twin sister Maria Luisa Pierangeli, (known professionally as Marisa Pavin) died in France on Dec 6, 2023 and lived until she was 91. (19 June 1932 - 6 Dec 2023) She found happiness in her marriage, divorce, and remarriage to French actor Jean Pierre Aumont (5 Jan 1911 - 30 Jan 2001). During her acting career she received an Academy Award nomination and won a Golden Globe Award for her performance in the 1955 film The Rose Tattoo. They had two boys.

According to Wikipedia, "In September 1971, at the age of 39, Angeli was found dead of a barbiturate overdose at her home in Beverly Hills. On the day of her death, Angeli was given an injection of Compazine by her doctor. Consequent death due to anaphylaxis has been suggested, however, it is not supported by the findings of her autopsy."

Pier Angeli clearly had the potential to be a superstar, but the Hollywood studios failed to appreciate the talent they had on hand, in her acting ability, and little-girl-lost looks. The studio support system had broken down in the early 1950s. Shame that she died in 1971 of a severe allergy to a tranquilizer, and just 39. Octaman was inane scriptwise and unsubtle: an undeserving end to her otherwise sparkling career. (I've seen better black and white horror B-movies than this.) Had she not broken off her romance with James Dean, she just might have married him, even though he was a rebel. Who can say for sure? Heaven has a movie goddess in their immortal ranks. Bless you, Pier Angeli, for your memorable films! 👩👩👩🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹 😺😺

A very beautiful and wonderful actress. I liked her with Vic Damone. James Dean was very young and had some oats to sow. Although they were a beautiful couple the timing was not there as they were both building their careers and in high demand.

I imagine (not sure) that her sweet girl image might have become less popular after the 1950s and early 60s. I remember Pier Angeli most from SILVER CHALICE. After the mid-1950s, that kind of image gave way to edgy personality types and images.

Had she stayed with James Dean, it would have saved his life. He crashed his Porsche on the way to a Sports Car race in northern California in September of 1955 and was killed instantly. I was 17 and my friends and I all lost our hero from "Rebel Without a Cause".

Was Pier Angeli not marred to Vic Damone? I believe her sister Marisa was married to a French actor named Jean Pierre Aumont. Perhaps Pier's mother knew of the reputation of Kirk Douglas as a "womanizer" and as a Catholic Italian mother didn't want Pier's heart to be broken nor her reputation ruined.

Funny you should ask that question ! Yes ! Yes ! Yes ! I think many good things could have happened to both of them if they were allowed to get married. They were both drawn to each other and very very compatible, not to mention physical attraction! They would have great together, and I think the way their lives ended would have been the complete opposite.

Her relationship with James Dean was not meant to lasts for sure.With Dean's reported mood swings and even differences in religion became so much of an issue for Angeli's parents.Add the fact that theyre both very young then with Dean on the edge of stardom who wasnt really gay or even bisexual just living hes life without limits according to his own words that perhaps led to his early death.

I only remember her somewhere in the action of The Silver Chalice which Paul Newman regretted with notices printed in newspapers. Unlike The Robe this was one mediocre religious novel which was even worse.on the screen and there have been more but hardly involving this actress.
