Congratulations to University of Santa Clara Cross Country team on joining Division 1 status. You’re setting a good example for generations of young cross country runners to come to University of Santa Clara and join their developing cross country team to national standards. Good luck to them and hopefully they can make to nationals and win XC championships for years to come.

Right now I’m on a tiny 3rd division xc team. Anyone can get on the team. I mean ANYONE. Last year we had a guy run an 8k in like 38 mins. Our fastest, a freshman, did 28 flat. Many of us only had 2-3 years of running experience, some of us 1. However, we are extremely tightly knit and no one has bad blood. We use each other as motivation and competition to improve. The cockiness these guys mentioned is something that our coach has. He fully expects us to be a winning team in a few years with hard work. It’s truly amazing to have that kind of confidence in ourselves. It feels great.

I looked at Santa Clara's tfrrs a couple weeks ago after I saw a video with them and TAS and Ben Crawford and I thought "these guys aren't that fast, why are they at elevation?" It all makes sense now, mad respect for you guys.
