To be honest what keeps me from studying Revelations is the fact that I would need help to interpret it, but I know there are so many different interpretations and wouldn't be sure which one to believe.

I still believe Joel Richardson’s interpretation and published material is more compelling.

43 minutes in was the most unbiblical thing I've ever heard on this show I think. He was doing pretty well until then. The idea that God wants his enemy-loving children to raise armies to fight the beast and the dragon with missiles and machine guns just seems so contrary to everything in the New testament.

I thought the discussion informative nevertheless, and would agree that we will not understand many of the end times prophecies until we are nearer.

What a great episode! For someone who grew up with a relatively limited supply on various Christian teachings - aka small place in larger area with mostly the same Christian culture with few exceptions among the believers - it's refreshing to dive deep into these alternative views. When I was young, I was now and then a bit nervous for being left behind. I was definitely saved. I definitely believed. It was just that I was so tinted by the culture that emerged here in my area around my teen years which is thankfully a loooong time ago that the trust lacked. We need to look at the good news. Teaching people today to actually believe and then trust in it is one of the hardest things one can do. I grew up hearing about Russia or Syria being the enemy to Israel. And how they was gonna be destroyed in one way or the other miraculously. I always thought- that's so strange- because it seems people through the ages have seen current events like this. Russia is just a a blip in history. Its just a blip in after christ era even. This has the potential to spawn a lot of conspiracy theories - the unfruitful kind - and also make the church culture dripping wet by politics and different opinions. This was sobering in many ways. There ought to be a shift - away from politics, conspiracy theories, excessive demon hunting, prosperity gospel etc. We need a proper shit towards - what is the good news really about. Bible study in one way or the other is crucial to actually understand it. And I'm left thinking back to when I was a teen. Hearing about these enemies of Israel, end times and how bad its gonna be. I think about two things: 1. Russia and those others is also full of Christian born again spirit filled Christians. Consider the consequences of reducing it down to just a nation- that happens to be the enemy. 2. Why don't we just start with trusting God instead? What are the fruits from all these conspiracy/ political things we mix in with our faith? Can't speak for all but for me it means more confusion that clarity. And taking my time away from trusting in God.

Final comment, the Didache clearly teaches the first century expected a real antichrist. BTW, that was about 95-100AD, and they didn’t ID Nero, nor did Irenaeus. Per Historicist, the falling away was the institutionalization of the church after Constantine. The Amil frame has merit, but IMO falls very short for a legit, historical fulfillment. IMO Mike winger does an amazing job of breaking down all the end times views and doesn’t outright dismiss any views that he personally doesn’t hold. It appears this guest, Pastor Kim & hosts are equating anyone who holds the end times view of a coming antichrist and pre trib rapture (and associated views - idk the fancy names for them) out to be like “left behind”. It was a sweeping generalization and quite disappointing. We can disagree with each other on these secondary issues but to outright insult your brothers and sisters in Christ is not cool. No different than people who do not believe in speaking in tongues and say someone is lying or faking it.

This might be the worst use of the concept “hermeneutic” I have ever heard. Theological frameworks are not a “hermeneutic”. Dispensationalists would tell you they get to their framework FROM their hermeneutic of being literal grammatical historical principles. It is really sad to be people trying to get others out of their “echo chamber” while mis representing the echo chamber you are shooting at. If you want to go after dispensational thought , go after the misguided notion of “literal”. Cognitive linguistics debunks this idea, as language and communication does not work like this.

Historicist were mostly correct. We have to see Revelation in 7cycles of 7 visions that cover the 1st coming to 2nd coming. If we see the satanic beast of ch 12,13 and 17 as three phases of the breast being revealed in cycles, it makes sense. How? The 7heads/10 horn in rev 12 is pagan Rome with crown on the 7 heads, Rome’s hills. In ch 13, the 7/10 has crowns on the 10 horns or the 10 nations that evolved into the papal Roman Empire. So ch 13 is the papacy or papal reign period- just as the reformers identifies. The last version in ch 17 has NO crowns or secular Rome. This is the future end time beast that will have a false prophet along side. I challenge is to reject the Dispys, reject the Dominionism of post mil and 7 mountains, reject the Bible project metaphoristic fulfilllment, reject future speculation.

Believing in a third future temple does not require a dispensational eschatology! Interesting. Just been studying Daniel and 2 Thessalonians 2 and had questions about the antichrist. This video is from an Amillennialist's perspective. I'd like to see a response from a Pre-millennialist as well. At 7:40 reference is made to the temple spoken of in 2 Thessalonians 2 as being a reference to the church. 4 He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God. The claim is made that the destruction of the temple in AD70. But to be consistent, shouldn't this also just refer to the church. What is it in the allegorical method that pushes us to recognise a historical fulfillment of the destruction of the temple. At 6:40 the claim is made that 2 Thessalonians 2 doesn't speak of a restrainer currently preventing the man of sin. That doesn't sound right unless I'm missing his point. See below. 5 Don’t you remember that when I was with you I used to tell you these things? 6 And now you know what is holding him back, so that he may be revealed at the proper time. 7 For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way. 8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming. Clearly Paul is saying that there were elements of the antichrist at work at the time time he was writing. At 27:50 attempts are made to identify a 'man of lawlessness' around the time of the early church. But wouldn't the allegorical method of interpretation simply allow me to say this is a general reference to evil at work in the church that will one day become manifest? Why try to pin it on particular persons. What is it in the method that pushes us to recognise a historical fulfillment of the prophecies in a person. In the AD 70 destruction there was no 'abomination of desolation' erected in the temple. Was that something we should expect to see fulfilled or should that be interpreted allegorically and if so how? This is the problem I have with the allegorical method of interpretation. I'd agree that you can get carried away trying to see fulfillment of prophecies in events unfolding today. But shouldn't we make some attempt. The wise men from the east discerned the star that signified the birth of Christ. The people attracted Jesus harsh rebuke in Luke 12:56 because they failed to discern the times they were living in. Many people who were well versed in Scripture missed the cues and ended up rejecting the Christ. Israel has arisen from the ashes and is once again a powerful nation. Who would have expected that a few hundred years ago. Be interested to hear how you interpret the Israel spoken of in Romans 11:22-29 and the meaning of the passage.

He is the table of Showbread; the two stacks of loves of bread are symbolic of the word of God (the bread of life) in two testaments / witnesses, also the twelve tribes of Israel and the twelve Apostles. He is the Lampstand; the oil being symbolic of his Spirit; the Lampstand symbolic of his light unto the world. He is our Altar of incense; making intercession for his saints. He is our Mercy seat covering the Ark of the covenant; Jesus is both our advocate standing for his saints with the Father and He is our judge in judment. Jesus Christ caused the sacrifices and their oblations to cease, (Dan 9:27) by his one perfect sacrifice. In contrast to the time of the Gentiles, wherefore the sanctuary of God is trodden under foot for forty and two months. How so? This church who calls herself the mother church, claims to be *the door* to salvation. And the white linen surrounding the inner court is the righteousness of Mary and the saints of the Roman church. She claims that Christ sacrifice and Atonement for sin was not sufficient, for she instituted seven (works) sacraments. She through infant baptism makes a mockery of the rebirth of the new man. Her Catechism thinks to replace the inspired word of God. Her prayers to dead saints and to Mary, thinks to replace Christ work of intercession at the altar of incense. Hers is a false spirit which thinks to cover the light of truth. This beast and her king think to change times and laws of God. And goeth into perdition.

(Meaning that John is in the wilderness in his vision and not physical on Patmos, and he sees a beast that would come up from out of this wilderness. Read Job 38:26.) The 7th < "is not yet come" At the time of John's vision *in the wilderness* this head of the beast was yet to come; this is *the beast from out of the earth* [Rev 13:11]; (And he shall exercise all of the power of the first beast...) when this beast will speak like a dragon. This beast must continue a short time, as per the others before him. I believe by the testimony of Jesus, that we are now living in that "short time". The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is. {Revelation 17:8} :11...even he is the eighth, AND IS OF THE SEVEN, and ascends out of the bottomless pit and goes into perdition. --There are seven heads at the time of John's vision, five kings/heads/beast are fallen, so this eighth is of the seven kingdoms...."that was"...."and is not"...."yet is" AND received a deadly wound; AND his deadly wound was healed. This wound is the loss of her (the woman/church that rides the beast.) temporal sword (also her captivity), which is the earthly secular world kingdom. This is the image of the beast (that great city), who like Babylon of antiquity, who thinks to usurp church and state craft. The number eight is a metaphor for the resurrection. The eighth is resurrected from a former head of the seven; the 5th head that received a deadly wound. (When he shall go into perdition: this will be the final dispensation of this beast with seven heads, that is a metaphor for satan.) Jesus; (The resurrection; Jn 11:25) Ἰησοῦς/Iēsous = 888 by counting the letter values of the Greek transliteration; I(10), E(8), S(200), O(70), U(400), S(200). In antiquity the mountain was not only a metaphor for a kingdom, but it was also symbolic of the head of a (river) dragon that was symbolic of a river that flows out from a mountain, after the spring thaw and overflowing its banks, spreading out in the form of the dragon's tail. The color is scarlet because it is symbolic of the blood of the saints of the Lord. A woman in prophecy is always a metaphor for a church, in this case (Jezebel) it is the fallen temple of God. The false prophet, a lamb (Christ like) with two horns, and/but will speak like a dragon (a wolf in sheep's clothing), will be the beast (from out of the earth ... the USA) that will make an image unto the first beast from out of the sea, who received a deadly wound and his deadly wound was healed. The two horns are a metaphor for two (equal) kingdoms in one, church and state craft. Medo-Persia also is expressed as having two horns [Dan 8:3], but one was higher, (Persia) and eventually usurps the other. This is the image of the first beast from out of the sea (Papal Rome). Once the wall of separation of church and state is lost, then will the second beast from out of the earth become the image of the first beast, who claims the authority of both church and state. Even so, come Lord Jesus. Amen.

Kind of weird you have the title of the video, “Who is the Anti-Christ?” then an image of a person with a 666 on their head. What does that have to do with the Anti-Christ? That is the number of the Beast in Revelation, where there is no mention of an Anti-Christ. Do you think you possibly, maybe, might be forcing things together that don’t go together?

Be careful of partial eschatology. Biblical interpretations that can be interpreted by scripture and then man fills in the rest with his or her own beliefs or symbolism. Amillennialism lacks many explanations. In Ezekiel 38-39 they seem to read until the middle of 39 and then stop. But if we read all of 39 the Lord returns Israel from exile and many died by the sword. Then they have to repurpose weapons and cleanse the land of bodies. Does this sound like the New Heaven and new earth? Then 40-48 he sees a new Jerusalem, new temple, and the Lord in the temple. Zachariah 14- after the Messiah lands back on the Mt. Olives, all the nations must travel to Jerusalem to pay honor to the king and observe the Feast of Tabernacle. If they don't, they will suffer plague and famine. Does this sound like the new Heaven and new earth post the White Throne Judgment? Revelation says the beasts are thrown in the lake of fire, then Satan locked up, then Satan and Hades are thrown in the lake of fire. So if Satan is locked up, who are the beasts thrown in some current lake of fire. How is Satan released and then the antichrist, and then the lake of fire? Furthermore, he said Satan has been trying to raise "antichrist" and Hitler is an example (which I agree). But then says the antichrist won't rise until Satan is released from the pit and not restrained anymore. So then how has he raised Hitler, Stalin, etc? There are far to many discrepancies that come with amillennialism. Gog is the bringer of Jacob's trouble. The first beast system the woman rides. In Ezekiel 38-39: •Gog is the one who prophets have foretold •He rides a horse •He has a bow •He invades Israel successfully. Exiling and killing by the sword •He receives a mortal wound and dies God enters in judgment against him with the sensor cast to earth and first three trumpets (Rev 8): •Lightning and earthquakes •Mountains leveled •Hail and fire Then the beast was, is not, and will come from the pit. The beast has a mortal wound that is healed. He is the 8th head, from the 7 (Rev 17). Then the 5th trumpet is the pit/abyss opened up by a "fallen star" (aka Satan). After Satan is kicked out of heaven with 1/3 of the angles/stars. The fourth trumpet is a darkening of 1/3 the sun/moon/stars as a sign. Woe to the earth because our accuser has been cast down. The antichrist comes from the pit! And that can't happen until Satan is completely cast down to the earth. Paul says Satan is the god of the earth. How is he the "god" of earth while being locked up?
