Watched his side winning against Arsenal the other night, and I thought that they might come out as a club to be know as 'giant killers' they might surprise us when they come to bigger club's pitch by nicking a win or a draw with an exquisite style of football and prolly challenge for the Europa league. The premier league just got more and more interesting.
@@antonyevans9772 Ingsy certainly did as well as Armstrong, as you may know now, Che is doing well as well as JWP and Romeu! Weird watching these vids now.
Hassenhuttl is a really good coach and a great appointment for Southampton. I really love his 4-2-2-2 formation and how they press. He is one of the reasons I stated watching Leipzig when they came to the bundasliga because i saw what he did at a mediocre Ingolstadt saving them from being relegated after they were 10 points from safety .
these are the type of videos I subscribe for. the ones where you get to know about relatively unknown coaches/tactics. should be good appointment definitely will need to make signings, but there are few players who will benefit from that 4-2-2-2 like elyenousi who was very good at basal
A commanding centre back has been the biggest fault recently. Puel was forced to play defensive because he had to protect the CBs. Last season we conceded late goals because of it. Get a solid defender and next season will undoubtedly be a good one.
@RKMP 9, I agree that's been Saints' biggest fault of late, but I disagree with the Puel part. Puel had Van Dijk, who was incredible for us, and still played defensively. Like trying to see out a 0-0 against Hapoel in the Europa League and inevitably conceding, causing us to go out. Puel would also do bizarre substitutions, like changing a striker for another striker when losing a match late on, rather than going all out to try and equalise.
Very well explained. As a Southampton fan. What ever happens from now on in, this season is going to be interesting. Tactically and seeing how players adapt to a new system. The problem we had with Hughes was that from saving us, he did not set about trying to reorganise the squad. He brought in Armstrong which was a good decision. But apart from that he was always talking about change to come, but the saints fans just got too impatient. Also the press try to make out we are a selling club, we was once. But have not sold any player of note for 18 months to 2 years now. This is where Hasenhuttl is going to be a breath of fresh air. He will identify players to a set system, this means that players will have to step up. Lastly our problem this season is that we score early but concede to late. Whatever happens Its a decision done for the right reasons, looking very much forward to what the rest of the season brings.
@@patrickcroysdalecroysdale7900 yes he was banished to the reserve and was forcing a move, only lost Tadic to Ajax. We actually spent more than we made. Our ratio of selling players is one of the lowest, they just went to big teams like Mane, Chambers etc
Statman Dave could be an interesting one to do. Perhaps looking at whether or not he would fit in the system epsecially when you look at how muto was brought in for the same position he would go but hasn't really been used
Very good manager statman!!! Well played for making this video to show everyone what a good manager he Is even though he is unheard of on these shores!! Beggers belief man utd were not looking at him as a replacement for jose. 442 which transitions to a 422 traditional man utd tactics!!! Also umpachenko is a very underrated player for lipzig, a very good defender. Would love to see him come to the prem... Going to see some great attacking football from Southampton now ✌✌
Armstrong should start over Ward Prowse on current form, has a similar strike rate to Forsberg. Also Obafemi over Long, they're so similar but Obafemi has more about him.
Statman Dave delivery from dead ball situation, yes. Definitely. In game? Nope. Main thing about him in game is his work rate. He’ll work because he love the club and works his arse off every game. Armstrong is a better option imo. Redmond and elyonoussi are options on the right side of midfield.
Completely agree. JWP doesn’t offer much creativity at all. I watched Armstrong live against Spurs and he was by far our most creative threat. Obafemi is also a good alternative to Long and one to develop in the long term (he’s only 19 after all!). Also think Southampton should look at strengthening our centre backs-unless Vestergaard gets his act together! Midfieldwise we’re fine but Redmond needs more support. He can’t initiate all the attacks by himself. I think we should recall Boufal in January and see how he fairs with Ralph before selling him next summer. I’ve been very disappointed by Elyonoussi. Can’t see what he’s brought to squad? I genuinely think Boufal is more talented than Moi and has been unlucky with the last couple of managers along with injuries.
@@NateDogg8870 I believe that JWP was creative then and still is now. Excellent player and captain for us. Big Vest did get his act together, top player in the league at the moment. Djenepo for us fills in for Redmond very well. Boufal was just unlucky with us and what he showed was not right for our squad and style unfortunately. Still love the guy.
Funny to look at this video now. Very accurate in the tactics, just with personnel changes. Romeu and ward prowse being the midfield duo and Adams up front alongside ings. But very accurate assessment, clearly he (so far) has been a great appointment and managed to get the squad to a place that appreciates and works for these tactics.
So long as we play exciting decent football that is great to watch then I don't care what league we are in. His contract binds him into staying even if we go down.
Sorry Dave but Prowse has not been reliant recently probably Armstrong will play that role neither the less great video! Taught me a lot about our new manager
As a saints fan, we've actually got a squad which rivals the ones we've had under Poch and Koeman. Problem is a series of backwards thinking uninspiring managers. Things will bode well for us now! Get ready for Nathan Redmond and Mario Lemina to explode 🔥
BEEN WATHCING UR VIDEOS FOR A WHILE... VERY EXCITING STUFF... WOULD LOVE TO HAVE UR TAKE ON ALLGERI AS A POSSIBLE REPLACEMENT FOR MOURINHO SINCE HE SEEMS TO BE GOING SOOONER OR LATER...
I promise you we will see a massive improvement against Cardiff on Saturday with the selection and the way the Saints play.He will have been watching our last few games. Relegation could be a word we no longer need to use.
Amazing deal, Ings and Austin will probably head up his 4222 but if CA doesn't cut it, I think he'll use his connects to get this kid named Yussuf Poulsen from Leipzig, similar player on the physical side but a lot more technical ability.
I like to refer to the Red Bull football playing style as "Austrian Blitzkrieg". If you watch games of FC Salzburg (formerly known as Red Bull Salzburg) you may know what I mean. The same accounts to RB Leipzig to a lesser degree and Jurgen Klopps style to an even lesser degree. Austrian Blitzkrieg may be a morally wrong pick of words though ... but I hope you know what I mean. These teams rely on an extremely high work rate of players, astounding physical shape and determination. When these teams are attacking, they mostly overwhelm enemy defences by sheer numbers, force, speed and pace. Still they are tactically variable and also able to play well placed long balls to the strikers, kinda like a modern and improved way of kick and rush. These teams press the F out of enemy defences, gain the ball and extremely quickly go for a goal attempt, mostly before the enemy team is even able to react somehow in an efficient way. I wish Hasenhuttel the very best and hope that the implementation of his playing style will be successful in order to keep Southampton in the Premier League.
As a Pompey fan, this appointment makes Southampton an annoyingly exciting prospect for the remainder of the season. Think they'll stay up comfortably.
I personally think ward-prowse hasn't got the pace needed nor the strength for his style. Obafeni is a better shout than Long who is just dreadful but don't mind him as a part time type of player. We do have a few good youngsters out on loan who would fit in and of course a very good u23 team with some good promising players.
@rkmp 9 yep agree, Blackburn fan I know said that Reed has been amazing for them keeps pressing the opposition on his own and he's by far the best CM in the championship. I hope someone at the club lets Hassenhuttle know how good he could be in his system.
As much as I respect your explanation, it's hard to take anyones knowledge of football seriously who says hodgeberg and saidoo mane (not just in the bloopers)
@@StatmanDave what do you think about spurs vs saints tomorrow? Dad's first game in a first team context.. fingers crossed please!! Love the content as always
Ah that’s sick man. He seems to be doing well with the under 18s. Do you know if we got any gems in the youth set up that we can expect to see breakthrough in the next couple of years? The well of young talent seems to have ran dry over the last couple of seasons. Obafemi and Valery look promising though!
I don’t understand why united don’t hire this manager he’s talented and fits the united mould also get a director of football and sell players like Fellaini Matic young Jones mctominay and buy a cm right back and a cb
Yea he is good. At this moment I would have anyone but Mourinho in charge of United. The only scare is, can anyone else succeed with this squad of ours where one of the best managers in the world has already failed🤦♂️
4 Things I hate: 1.people who can't spell. 2. People who reply to their own comments 3. People who edit there comments. 4. People who don't know how to count.
The problem with Hasenhuttl's tactics is that it doesn't create many chances. RB Leipzig though, unlike Southampton, have very good passers of the ball like Forsberg and Kampl, and then have the wildcards of Bruma and Augustin to bring on from the bench to bail them out, none of which Southampton have anything similar to.
tdyerwestfield - Ball Street OG Southampton create a lot of chances 😂😂 they’ve created moe chances than arsenal and they are in the top 5 list of chances Created, the problem is putting them away and not losing focus
haha hoijberg!!! who the hell is that!? Hasenhuttl will of course be very successful with saints and then unfortunately move on to a very big club in 2022
Definitely looks as though he’s going to be a top player. He might sign for Southampton to allow him to develop in a top league, with regular minutes, in a system he’s used to and knows will get the best out of him.
The „Austrian klopp“ is overrated otherwise he wouldnt have sacked from Leipzig last year He doesnt know anything about defense Don’t know why such offensive coaches get hyped that heavily...
