Curze was a total loose cannon. I recall Khan saying hes not sure if he could take Curze on in a one to one fight. I see Curze being a fighter you cant predict what he is going to do and he will fight dirty. His psychic ability of prescience, he can predict what is coming. He took two primarchs at one time and the only reason he lost to the lion was because one of Lion's men got him deep in his back which gave the Lion the opening

While I'm a Space Wolf player fan and player through and through I'm going to say it's a coin toss between Salamanders and Ultramarines. To me they represented what was to be the Emperor's end game after the crusade if we didn't have Horus do what he did. They were warriors but also statesmen and artisans at the same time. Plus I like Vulcan for having what I call, a noble flaw in he lets his trust and altruism get used by others.

I disagree on Horus being a top tier general. The S-tiers are G-man, the Lion, Corvus. Horus is very charismatic and a great orator, but other Legions and Primarchs have greater feats.

Noooo, Ferrus !!!!! He died too young. I do have a few things to say about his combat prowess. It's said in the novel Fulgrim that he would have beat fulgrim if the Lair blade didn't intervene. I'm just saying. Plus, for what it's worth, he was critical to Horus' plans during the heresy. He said that in Galaxy in Flames. And when you mentioned that it would be cool if he could reach his hands into machines to fix it. He has a ability kinda similar. He can mold metal without heat, like clay, and when he offered Vulkan a weapon as a gift. Vulkan humbly rejected it since he did not trust weapons that were not imbued with the "heart of the forge" or something like that. I dont remember which book that was in. In the novella "the fall of the lords of Gardinaal" he uses this power offensively against high lord Strachaan. Catching a metal limb in his hand and having it explode in molten fragments thanks to his ability to control metal. Im a huge Ferrus Manus nut and i know these things donr make up for his drawbacks he is a bit of a angry idiot. But these are just some points that i felt should be considered in the ranking. I dont know if they get him out of E teir, but hey!!! Thanks for reading my rant.

As a thousand son player i wish we had vulkan as a primarch. I love the tragedy but magnus is just not likeable for me. I prefer the thousand sons more than magnus. Vulkan is my favorite. I love his kindness and craftmanship. He is just good. I get why you dislike the salamander, you feel they are not grim enough. And i would answer, yeah but sometime even in the darkest place they are good paladins and even then they get a little twist with their monstrous look and flame weapons. I think when evrything is dark dark dark you lose a little bit the track. Contrast is necessary and the salamander are so sad because they show what the imperium could still be if they wanted, and they fight a desperate battle against their own imperium. Evrything is against them, their tactics, their governement, the mechanicum and yet they stand by principle and are still kind (toward human, non mutant, non heretic). But yes they are good paladins and yes there novel are very boring because of no contrast. So here we go : warhammer would be boring without the salamander to remind us, space marine are not good, these guys are the exception. But bestest primarch is salty iron daddy. Iron within iron without.

Very few lists have your kind of explanation and reasoning, I really loved how you put valid reasons for them being where they are. A lot of people don’t respect pre corruption Horus I’m glad you put some respect on his name. My top 5 are 1. Dorn 2. The Lion 3. Curze 4. Perturabo 5. Horus ( wish we had more pre corruption)

Where do you draw your lines on homebrew? Do you create chapters, primarchs, or ever alter the existing lord? I’m new to 40k, but I homebrew about 90% of my D&D games and love it. The key I feel for homebrew is to have as much fun as you want but don’t impose it on other people’s games. I see how this could cause friction in 40k.

Guilliman loses 1v1 with other Primarchs and gets humbled on battlefield - "He's a joke" Guilliman wins 1v1 and on battlefield - "Plot armor, Mary Sue" When it comes to that guy GW is at least in my oppinion performing a great balancing act. Since don't get me wrong, North, I see what your point is and that there is a difference between a well written W and just shlocky Mary Sue plot armor stuff, but let's be honest - most of fandom thinks in memes and according to those blu man bad because Matt Ward bad, because codex bad etc, and that attitude is still prevalent, and probably won't go anywhere ever, so giving G-Man any clear W is risky as fuck for GW, since they clearly want to keep their blue poster boys as poster boys (dunno, why, maybe guys from Marketing figured out their colour scheme wants you to buy models or something) and keep them cool, but need to do so skillfuly otherwise house of cards falls. And imho that's exactly why G-Man is the way he is since people who react most violent are exactly from the crowd of "my Primarch/legion beats your Primarch/legion". In other words Guilliman sucks so Ultramarines can keep winning.

I’d say Dorn is an A tier duelist minimum. As a character S tier definitely. I think the Iron cage will show us something more to why the imperial fists lost. Can’t wait for the scouring.

Fulgrim beat Ferrus the first time because it was a surprise attack. Ferrus lost the second time because of Fulgrim daemon cheat codes. Ferrus is grossly underrated.

I hate how space Wolves players drone on about how Space Wolves are "marine slayers" I don't even know how they remain loyalist. They're mutant freaks. Exterminatus.

I think as a general Ferrus is definitely one of the better primarchs. Was top 5 candidat for warmaster. Horus claimed the war would be over if he’d have had Ferrus rather than the rest. His lack of content is what hurts him. Of what we have heard of other primarchs he’s a beast.

Its odd to call Corax cringe for the edgar allan poe references and black raven aesthetic but a grim reaper primarch morty isnt considered cliche and boring lol.. a grim reaper super soldier general... grim.. reaper.. Anytime i think of the grim reaper all i think of are the edge lords who put them on their tshirts or online profiles with edgy quotes on life and death 😂 Enjoyed the upload bud ✌️

Said Vulkan isn’t a good duelist but Curze is. Vulkan beat Curze to a pulp once he wasn’t being tortured and had a weapon, also roasted the hell out of Curze first and had a great zinger right before the fight

it was kind of obvious the traitors was going to win, the loyalists where outnumbered and cut off, also dorn never planned on winning he planned on surviving until the other legions arrived , personally neither dorn or Perturabo won , i dont think it was a war where a side could win but instead a victor would be determined by who suffered the least

disagree. I disagree entirely with Salamanders being blank is a good idea. I fucking HATE when we're bantering around the game table and I can't say anything good about my primarch. It's the one thing I despise about playing Salamanders.

I see a lot of imperial fist players poo poo on perty, saying he’s the worst and Dorn is better, but saying Dorn is better than perturabo means nothing if perty isn’t at least a very good primarch.

That’s why I rank Lorgar high and he’s my favorite Primarch and his legion is my favorite. Not because of his combat prowess or how strong he is. This ain’t a dick measuring contest. I like his character, his flaws, and I honestly view him probably one of the most human of the Primarchs.

While you’re going option backed up on facts I want to give my personal favorites. Traitor my favorite is Magnus then Peterabo. Loyalist is the Khan and then the Angel. All together it goes Magnus, the Kahn, Peterabo, the Angel. Though I will say it is close and I may swap those around. Also part of me would think it would be interesting to look at the primarchs and then the legions in one tier list but separate. Basically one tier list but you’re ranking a primarch and then ranking their legion since I may like a primarch and think they are A tier but think their legion is D tier or vice versa. Maybe they are at the same tier maybe not. That sort of thing. Magnus is an interesting one. One one hand I think he’s fantastic written and Ai can see/understand why he makes the stupid decisions he makes but yeah some of those stupid decisions I just can’t fathom. Also I do think he holds back when he fights his brothers and their sons. There is some small part of him that just doesn’t want to go all out because I’ll be honest I think he should be able to beat every other primarch (non ascended versions) because his mastary of the warp is second only to Big E and this would let him buff himself, weaken his opponent, warp everything around him, etc. but he never actually unleashed his full potential. If you don’t want to have him be the one who can beat every other primarch then fine but he should be up there. Warp powers are nothing to scoff at.

Regarding Mortarion, what about the hate of psykers be something akin to the hate of cheating death/denying reality.

With the FW books 2 and 6 they did a fairly good history of the legion. The Ultramarines for me a just bland they were empire builders.

In my honest, humble and my totally unbiased opinion, Dorn and Sanguinius are the best loyalist primarchs. Imerial fists, Blood Angles, Black Templars, Crimson Fists and Lamenters are the best legions/chapters. Magnus and Omegon are the best Traitor Primarchs. Magnus’s legion is cool af, really like the brotherhood of dust and I love the Horus heresy colour scheme. Also I’ll include grey knights because they’re sons of Magnus as well right?

Also just outright saying head of the hydra isnt true is a little whack too, it may be a lie, but we dont know one way or another and based on the rest of the book i doubt that it is a lie.
