Next challenge. Return to base. All 4 challengers dropped in separate locations and need to return to the a central base before the others. To truely make it a challenge they are not told where they are dropped off. Using a map and compass they need to find out where they are and how to get back. Works best in the countryside where they are no street names to give them clues on where they are. Need to use the landscape to work it out

I did an out and back challenge for my running mates which would be fun to see you guys do :o): Each runner has 30 minutes to do an out and back run and finish as close to your start point as possible. The person closest to their start point at exactly 30 minutes is the winner. The catch is, 20 minutes should be ran out and only 10 back. This is a good chance to push yourself and work on a bit of speed. A point system will be used to tally the results, every 0.1 mile is 1 point and of course, the aim is to have as few as possible. In the event of a draw, the person who ran the farthest overall distance will take the win, so going very slow at the beginning to gain an advantage, could end up losing you the challenge. The exact route out should be used for returning back to the start. Only one turn is permitted which happens at the 20th minute Filling time up and down streets or doing loops is not allowed.

This was cool! I've been watching the Running Channel from almost the beginning I've noticed that low HR training, particularly Maffetone training (MAF) isn't something that's been covered in much detail (or at all?). I've been running at MAF for 11 months now and it's been the best thing to ever happen to my running. So here's the challenge: one or more of the Running Channel team to commit to training with Maffetone for a 3 month period and to document the journey in a weekly update video. I know it's not the most exciting challenge ever, certainly one that's impossible to do in just one video but I think it would be really interesting to see how different members of the team adapt. It's helped me improve so much and I'm sure it can others as well.

Challenge idea: MAF training style session for 5 miles. 180 - age = max heart rate each runner can run at (MAF number). Three possible metrics to determine the winner: 1. The runner who walks the least amount of time to keep their heart rate under their MAF number, 2. The runner who keeps their heart rate under their MAF number the most frequently, and/or 3. The runner who has the least amount of change between their normal pace and their MAF pace. Percent change should help equalize everything [(MAF test pace - average non-speed session pace)/average non-speed session pace]

Challenge idea Who can run the fastest 5km the whole time backwards. The challenge being because you can only see what's technically behind (infront depending on how you look at this challenge by occasionally turning your head) those who are normally faster runners (looking at Andy or Kate here) have to care about their surroundings a bit more than normal. This may give Anna and Rick more of a chance to gain some points as all parties are a bit more equal here 😜

Another challenge suggestion. Who can cover a 10km at the most deliberately slowest 'running distance' What I mean by this is the runners all have to be faster than walking pace but who can 'run' 10km deliberately the slowest. May be harder than it sounds as you always have to maintain a faster than walking pace but you also cannot speed up. It will take concentration and patience vs speed - another one where the 'slower' two may have an advantage over the 'faster' two 😉

You should add a title to each particpanta drawing naming what the end result picture was supposed to portray. I was left wondering what the heck most of the participants drawings were supposed to represent???

Distance runners try sprinting! I run do both and I would love to see what times everyone would get in a 100-200m dash! Or you could try a 4x100 relay!

What about checking who know the pace best for example 5km pace's run 1st km 6:30 , 2nd 5:00 , 3rd 6:00 , 4...5:00 , and last 5:30, count seconds difference's (smallest difference wins) U can only use watch to start the challenge and obviously to stop it after 5km

A vertical challenge would be interesting to see, fastest to Everest a climb or maybe just 1345 metres so you're hitting the highest point of the UK.

Well done Andy 👏 I think the next challenge should be who can climb the highest in an allotted time period ! So Andy gets 30 minutes, Kate gets 40 and Anna and Rick get 60 minutes. 👍

Challenge Idea: Each Contestant gets a certain fast pace (Andy 3:30, Kate 4:00 Rick and Anna 4:30) and try to run at that pace for the most time possible.

Thanks for watching! You can use a mapping app - like Strava - to plan out your run (and design!) in advance 😊

Challenge idea: You are all dropped off 5km from a target location. However, you have not had the opportunity to plan your route. Who can make it to the target the fastest without gps, maps, asking for directions, or any other assistance.

How about a road/trail challenge? Each contributor will run the same course on the road, say a 5k, then each run the same course again the same distance, 5k. The person that runs the closest time/time percentage, on the two surfaces wins the challenge. No dogging it.

@@runningchannel I think it is a running challenge that is not based on competing against each other as much as competing against yourselves for the win. I hope you do it. If you do, do it. My name is Ed. I am from New England. (Massachusetts) :)
