I only feel sorry for gyomei and that 4-year-old girl, rest of children were aware of threat from demons at night, and yet they kicked kaigaku out of house to be eaten because they found out he was stealing Kaigaku had 3 choices Or take revenge and survive by letting demon into temple and unfortunately also killing his mentor, Give up and get eaten Or hide in a temple from a demon because of wisteria, which would probably end the same, because children kicking him out of house again and this time he would probably be torn apart by that demon who would hunt him down for deceiving him He chose option that gave him revenge and a chance to survive I understand kaigaku to some extent, he had no family, he had to steal, eat junk food and drink water from puddles, then he was sent to death by his "friends", he devoted next half of his life to becoming a hashira without being accepted by his master and on the end was about to be destroyed in a second by kokushibo But I also strongly criticize him for his lack of any remorse and lack of empathy for other people

But the only thing you can appreciate Kaiguku for is getting Zentisu's endgame on-

Nah his actions made Gyomei a hashira ehich resulted in him saving far more people.

Kaigaku is a very interesting character, he used to steal money from Gyomei's temple and the other kids found out. Instead of telling the stone Hashira, they kept it to themselves but forced him to sleep outside where he was vulnerable to demons in the first place.

Even if Kaigaku made Gyomei suffer, if Kaigaku didn't attack Gyomei wouldn't have known his strength. With that being said, I still hate this demon for causing a person to commit and leaving a person behind with a tragic backstory.

Ibr I’m not into ds manga or anything, but I hate zenitsu icl, he’s so annoying, I hope he improves next season tho

He doesn’t deserve as much hate as he gets I think. He was an orphan from basically the beginning and had to survive by any means he could. He was a self preservation kind of person, and can we really blame him for that? Id say the mocking attitude probably comes from guilt or resentment towards himself or the people who blame him for trying to live longer. That’s just my take of course. I could be wrong. I just found this out today when Gyomei was telling Tanjiro about how he became who he was. When I saw the flashback I saw him in it to. Bad enough he had the thunder Hashira commit hara kiri but sold out the other orphans

At first I'm comfused as to how did kaigaku meet zenitsu after the temple incident, but then it clicked that he didn't turn into demon on that time, he escape the demon by baiting the kids and gyomei and then run to meet zenitsu and his master...
