"One of the things League community HOUNDS me about." "Throw me a freakin' BONE here." "I'm right there with you, BARKING for some Darkin." Darkin Zacian got it.
@@linkanami Mental Health is a real thing. I am going through it right now due to a "loss" of a really important person. I hope he is okay and will recover. Doesn't matter what caused it, but it will leave scars... Even if he will take a break from his work or he still does it to distract himself. We, as his community, should be fully understanding and not complain about stuff. Mental Health is real and worse than a broken limb or anything and recovering from that can take weeks... or even years, depends on what happened
I hope we get a mid lane darkin and hopefully a support in the future. That way the darkin team would be complete Can't wait for Aatrox to roast the next Darkin
@@TheMultiRoxor maybe it goes more along the lines of the new champ gloating about their dagger, but aatrox calls it a kitchen knife and/or says that size matters
OK so there’s two female Darkin that it could be. 1. Valeeva. A Darkin that showed up in “Twilight of the Gods” and is implied to be Varus’ sister that he has been searching for in Shurima. The sand in the teaser image implies that the dagger is in Shurima, so that fits. She’s described as having purple veins, venomous spines and alabaster skin, which means that she basically looks like a spiky Varus. And she and her brother are apparently obsessed with vengeance, which fits Varus as well. 2. Xolaani. The ascended that is described in “The Faceless God”. She was an ascended healer who rebelled against the emperor’s warmongering ways. She also refused to participate in the Great Darkin War, instead choosing to use her knowledge of blood magic to heal people, and could even revive the dead. She was eventually “laid low by the most vicious of Darkin” I’ll be honest, I think Xolaani is definitely gonna be a champion at some point, but I feel like she might not be THIS champion, because her whole thing is that she does not like war or violence. She’s a healer, that is her whole characterisation. So a Darkin dagger assassin doesn’t seem to fit her. So overall I think Valeeva is more likely, though you know, it’s possible they’ll just make a new original character.
@@degeneratewithasideoftidep6795 how are they still alive in there? Once the darkin takes over, the other entities dies off don’t they? That’s what happens to kayn if rhaast wins
@@strangecreature4369 They do have some influence, but holy shit this just reminded me how outdated everything about Varus is right now. Give my boy(s) an update!
I really hope the new male enchanter turns out good, I've been craving a new enchanter champion that suits my playstyle, but will see. Finally some more Ixtal tho, they really dropped that one for so long
Ixtal is the biggest joke league has had in a while, released with one of the most disappointing characters, only to have her be annoying as fuck as well. And just completely ignoring the region for ages after, not developing it further at all.
Quote from Varus's bio: "During the earliest stages of the war with Icathia, even though it lay far from that cursed place, Varus’ homeland was attacked. While other wardens abandoned their posts to join the defense of the outlying villages, he alone remained, screaming in anguish with every arrow he loosed-for he had chosen to uphold his oaths rather than return home to protect his own family." Quote from "Twilight of the Gods" story: "Ta’anari swept his gaze around his fellow Sunborn-brothers and sisters once united by unbreakable bonds of love and duty that were, in time, revealed to be as brittle as glass." ALL ascended and dakrins were calling each other "brothers" and "sisters". Varus's real family died long ago, the one he called "sister" at the end of his story is as much sister to him, as she is to Aatrox, Rhaast and even Nasus and Renekton.
I find it odd you didn't point out how the dagger champ itself could just be the snake ascended Nekanaru (iirc) and the wielder be Cebataru the Wolf Ascended as they both escaped alongside Valeeva, Cebo being correlated as the wielder would make a lot of sense with what they were teasing with puns, and the dagger itself has a reptilian eyeball. Valeeva is more likely to be a support and have at least 1 darkin for each role.
@@kroneexe i mean its Varus' sister, who is an adc which is why it would make sense, besides it's the only role that makes sense for her and for the darkins
@@kroneexe i mean, they havent put an wgirl champ intentionally into support in a long time lol Its not like its bad anyway and theres plenty of off meta good supports such as lissandra and sylas that exist, and others. They want to put more males into the support role (apparently) anyway. Though they've realeased a lot of females recently in general.
A dog Darkin? Guess we could have a full canine team together with Ahri, Kindred's Wolf, Nasus and Warwick. I wonder if they will look like Amaterasu from Okami.
People see blade wielding wolf as a Red Wolf reference : I sleep People see blade wielding wolves as a sif reference : real shit ? People who see blade wielding wolves as a reference to the cut second phase of the abyss watchers which was supposed to be a Sif callback that was later reused in Elden Ring : ascended
Based on the hints, I'm pretty sure that we will get a dog darkin, who'se called Zeaam Reave mentioned "2:34 am" twice, so that has to mean something, and if you turn it into l33tspeak, you get Zeaam.
@@vegetatheveggie2547 technically if base on medival military a soldier equipment would be: Spear, Shield, Sword and Knife. High chance the support darkin gonna be the Shield, while Spear is already the idendity for few champion: Kalista (a javelin is literally a spear made for throwing) Pantheon, Nidalee and Xin zhao
I suspect the darkin is gonna be similar to Sif from Dark Souls but with a dagger, Reave made many dog - hound references during the teaser and says who - or what - took the dagger.
An important thing about the Darkin teaser was the "who or WHAT got hold of the dagger" meaning it's possible the host is a dog like, but that doesn't mean just a dog, it could be a monster, creature, Vastaya,Baccai etc
I'd like to see it be a Baccai. They got some attention with the Shuriman expansion in LoR but other than that they've been a tiny spot in the lore. Really the only places they're mentioned is that one loading screen text and in LoR. I'd just like to see Baccai have a bigger spot in the lore even if it's small but seeing as it's likely going to be a monster champion, I'd say it's highly likely that the Baccai would be more animalistic in nature. For those confused, Baccai are god-warriors that failed ascension and became deformed because of it. If a failed ascension were to happen and a Baccai is born, they were typically shunned by the empire. Although, it seems that Nasus has taken many of them in as guardians of his library.
The fright night skins really caught me off guard in the video, I was sadly expecting something much different from the skins, that doesn't mean the new concepts are bad tho. I just thought that maybe we could get something along the lines of Malphite with an old gothic Church on his back (Warhammer players know my inspiration) or just stuff that goes into this style of churches which I personally find very pleasing to look at. I think I am one of the only people thinking this way tho, the skins are still good but se feel more like a upgraded Halloween skin and not a new version of gothic, eventho the term "Fright night" makes sense of course
Yeah, sort of strange. I like these new skin concepts but they aren't really a new take on "gothic" they are just a new skin line. I was thinking Victorian-style dress, with lots of dark colors, gothic architecture, stuff like that.
@@abiwonkenabi7027 yeah exactly, as I said maybe a malphite with lots of dark magic seemingly controlling him with a giant Church on his bag gothic style. I sure hope that the concepts get more development or that maybe future skins have a more Victorian style to their name. I was thinking about a concept for Elise since that could be interesting, sadly I can't draw so I can't really show my idea but for the spider Form I would have taken inspiration from the skulltulas in the legend of Zelda because I think a spider with a skull on its back is very much gothic
@@merccc1 the Annie skin is the one that I actually also really like, as I said, I don't want them to change the currents skins since they are good, but I think evolving the skin like would be great More of the Annie like skins and less urgot
The issue with the new darkin IMO is that darkins used to be based on the four horsemen of the apocalypse. Based on their weapons, Aatrox is War, Varus is Conquest, and Kayn is Death. Which leaves Famine, whose weapon is a scale. Now I don't know how they could have made a character that fights with a scale, but it would have been neat.
Maybe this darkin champion uses its life pool as a form of mana or cost like Mundo did in the past. And some we've yet to see a darkin use blood magic that's so popular among them, this could also be a possibility that this darkin uses that as a form of offensive or defensive mechanic as a jungle. Dying could also mean that the jungle siphons the blood from jungle camps to fill up their secondary pool to use as cost or damage as well. There's a lot of potential when he said "I've been dying to tell you". That's what I sorta got from it Also, thinking about it now, Nasus = Anubis. Renekton = Sobek. When you say opposite of a dog, two Egyptian gods come to mind. Anhur, a lion themed Egyptian God and Bastet, a cat Goddess. So I'm thinking the inspiration could be one of those two.
It's just a hunch, but I feel like the Daarkin champ may share some similarities to the cancelled champion from a long time ago named Echo. He was a monsterous dog creature with spikes all over him. Considering they have used previous cancelled champs before as starting points for new ones, I wouldn't be surprised if Echo ended up being the starting point for this new champ.
As a top laner I'm really excited for K'Sante, Pride of Nazumah. The last two top laners released (Sett and Gwen) were pretty easy to learn and they say K'Sante is going to be high difficulty which is a nice refresher to the easy to play top laners we've been getting recently. Now we just have to see if Riot can restrain themselves from making him look like Sexy Squidward instead of a battle-hardened warrior.
"Skilled" is already a big red flag to me, I hope he won't be skilled the same way as Irelia and Fiora is, aka just runs you down with 0 counterplay because he is "hard". He will most likely have an overloaded kit that if mastered will give no chance for the enemy to do anything
@@tamas9554 There is counter play though. It is just that those champs are harder to play while offering big skill expression so if someone is good they can make the champ shine really well. Another bonus is if you play against them correctly you can usually beat them because of this too. Irelia for example you gotta avoid that stun, huge cooldown but requires her to aim it properly and catch you off guard. She becomes less threatening if you engage her without low minions for her to bounce on, when she misses the stun, or after widdling her down with poke here and there the best you can first. It is like akali and yasuo. They can be played really well and dominate the game, but on the other hand they can be some that hard feed like crazy because the player is not so great with it, gets out played, or messes up missing their abilities and when to properly use them. Usually always see hard feeders or hard fed, not inbetween. They are also some of the most fun to face each other with as it becomes more like a tactical duel with everyone dodging around attacking and all that.
@@user-sz9vt4sd7y I still wanna see a champ that can function as a ridable mount and only for those that don't already have a mount of sorts. like a reverse yuumi. you can ride if they allow you to.
The new tank sounds like Jayce, but instead of changing from ranged abilities to melee ones, he will change from offensive to defensive with his ultimate.
Sounds very balanced, it turned out well with Sett too. Making a champion who is tanky, but can still dish out a huge amount of damage is very good design. You basically have no counterplay unless the enemy plays a specific champ, but not that something like this matters at all to Riot
@@tamas9554 Sett is fairly easy to kite out and harass though unless you fall into his range. Big weakness is his range and maneuverability. Don't fall into his gap closer pull or be careful when his ultimate is still up and you are usually fine. Also you can dodge and kite out his big shield/blast as it fades fast and then go in for the kill while it is all on cooldown. People just don't play against him properly. I will say he is pretty good verse certain squishier and low mobile champs, but there are plenty he is terrible against too. Avoid the initial burst the best you can and then it is hunting season.
@@merccc1 Yeah, that is what I'm talking about, unless you play very specific champs, he is very hard to counter. Even if you dodge his burst, he can still easily kill you with his dps. I tried to kill him once with Wukong, he built goredrinker and I divine sunderer. It was an equal 1v1 when I DODGED his w, that isn't fair, and Wukong is a very strong 1v1 champ. I barely survived him even when I dodged his w, its a joke.
I'm excited for the Neeko update! I feel like her passive doesn't play as well into the rest of her kit as it should. interested to see how they will improve her gameplay
What if the twist if Nazumah is that K'Santi is actually an Ascended that cut ties from the main city of Shurima since the Darkin war. Nazumah, a city that is now against Shurima rule, is actually lead by one of the God Warriors. But K'Santi wouldn't want that known (the fact that he is an Ascended) so he uses the hides of Natofos to hide his true form (animalistic due to the transformation he had underwent during his Ascension). Now he just wants to lead Nazumah to prosperity and peace, very unlike of his old life back in the days. Maybe K'Santi found Nazumah on the brink of collapse as he tries to run away from Shurima, and decides he'll lay down on the unexpected land he encountered and help.
A rioter confirmed that they will be swapping the darkin and the enchanter around in release because there are still some stuff that they need to work out for their "Darkin Gal".
@@PsychoDiesel48 part of that problem stems from the fact that ad assassins only have access to three mythics to choose from, compared to ap assassins who have like fuckin’ 20 to choose from.
@@soulthesassyassassin3616 eh, it hink the major problem for AD Assassins is being forced into building lethality to deal notable damage. As an example, mages as a whole dont require magic penetration as a stat to function, since people have like 50-70 mr at level 18, vs easily 100-120 in base armor at 18. A single item can extremely reduce MR for mages, while assassin will play around multiple armor pen item to reduce armor to low enough numbers to actually deal proper damage. Thats also part of the reason why mages can build all ap items altogether with no struggle, and why ad assassins will ifnact usually avoid some items unless they're broken.
As a monster hunter player that new champ made me happy asf. They way you described their “weapon” is bassically a switch axe from monster hunter. It had a blade and axe mode.
If this Darkkin isn't a monster/dog then I am begging Riot to give them some beef. Character design wise, that is. We got that with Illaoi, and I want more. I think a lot of female champs need to look even slightly beefier considering most/all their lore involves moving around a LOT. If not full body beef, then at least their legs. For instance, Nilah's arms (or at least the one that wields her whip) would be RIPPED...or at the very least, visibly muscular. So would her legs if she really skips everywhere. Shyvana is half DRAGON but looks like Purple Human Woman who works a day job I'm aware a lot of older female champs are victims of "Sex Sells 2009" but, Arcane's success proved that that isn't really needed anymore, and I think Riot recognized that considering MF's battle bunny skin actually treated her like a human being and not boobs with a body attached. HERE'S HOPIN
A rioter said on twitter that the Male Enchanter would be coming before the Darkin. They said that they needed more time to work on the "Darkin Gal". So its likely a female darkin.
@@CucooCunt So I just checked and that Rioter isn't part of the team working on the Darkin (she is a product manager). The people working on them according to Reav3 is TwinEnso, LoneWingy and JohnODyin. So she just "leaked" that the Darkin possesing the dog is female (it was most likely a female anyway).
I'd really like the idea of varus's sister being a support champion rather than a midlaner so we can have a special interaction in between those two that would be so sweet
@@MrEHD-fj1bz Darkin were Ascended, created also to fight against the void that Icathia had brought. So they are technically like old enemies? Idk if that would make it impossible for them to co-exist, moreover you have to keep in mind that Voidlings might have a connection with the Watchers, though I am not a hundred percent sure on that one
9:41 here's something I found about 234. Apparently, the 234 Angel Number is a message of rebirth, regeneration, Life cycles and destiny. Not sure if this will have any significance, but I just thought it might be of interest to you.
Those "Ntofo" weapons, it sounds almost like an anagram for Tonfa, and I think Reave mentioned the champion wields them in plural, so one in each hand. Tonfas are basically like those L or T shaped batons police use, which you can use defensively by keeping them aligned to your forearms, but maybe he can shatter them to reveal blades crafted from the claws of that beast.
i really just hoped the next one wasnt going to be an assassin. Last one was kayn. and while rhaast is typically more if a tank. he can still very much pop in out of no where, assassinate you in 2 seconds, and then get the heck out
@@Bendzsike even so. rhaast still has the kit of an assassin. he can still move around faster than other non mobiity squishys. he can still get in and out with his wall waking. all his moves still come out pretty quick. his ultimate still is a tool that makes him invulnerable to damage, while targeting a single champion and doing a lot of damage to them. he is still very much an assassin. just not as conventional and cookie cutter as kayn/shadow assassin
I really like the idea of darkin being able to morph bodies in all the weird ways. The best examples, in my opinion, are the darkin from the new update of LoR, Naganeka of Zuretta who is literally a living animal ballista, and Taarosh who looks similar to a centaur, but, you know, darkin style and with a badass halberd that has a mouth.
I would really like it if her motivation, even further beyond Aatrox's pursuit of the same thing, is vanity and recovery of her divine glorious form. Considering she is a female Darkin it would in character for her even more than Aatrox to be invested in destruction in order to maintain any semblance of flashy Ascended form. She could also be a set of Ritual Daggers to further accent her theme as a Blood Magic user. Overall I want something big, menacing, vanity focused, and selfish.
@@ninjatoriumnova2483 Its not really sexist because women are human like the rest of us and are prone to falling to the many desires and temptations we all have.
I honestly love how they turned the gothic theme into Tim Burton's style. Imo they couldn't came up with anything better, i love those skins! (Draven included)
neeko so reliant on E to get dmg and E gets fked by any anti cc item by getting outplayed hard atm I like her but they could add some shaco to her with the clones
@@tristancarter4324 I think small things like that that add a little outplay potential to her kit would be okay, I just don't want to see a massive overhaul like I'm worried she'll get. I would be all in favor of a small change like what they did with Wukong with adding a second cast to his ult and letting him dash over walls with his w (I know those were two different updates but neither changed his core gameplay they just made it more fluid).
Darkins being corrupted ascended, would it be too bold to assume that she can still keep a little of the animal appearance? Reaver said about Yummi, and connecting it to other ascended: Nasus = anubis / Renekton = sobek... Maybe she can be: ??? = Bastet?
Important extra details: -K'Sante is actually pronounced Ke-sahn-tay -The current release schedule is K'Sante, ASol, Ahri, Ixtali Enchanter, Darkin, since there seems to be some more things to iron out with their "Darkin gal" -The Harass ping has been removed since the recording for obvious reasons
I think his kit will be something similar to old aatrox, it will fit the theme of "leader of the warriors" well. It will be like his W will be the "defensive stance" will increase his natural healing or increase his armor/mr stat while his "offensive stance" will remove all bonus armor/mr into raw ad for a few seconds.
I don't really like this version of Asol. Its just generic. I mean, even their explanation of it is just "He's a dragon, he should breathe fire and fly around." I actually prefer the concepts behind his current ability set, focusing on his lore being that of the guy who made the stars, as it gives him something more unique than just "fire breathing dragon." Maybe the mechanics of the new Q and E will give him that flare he is missing, but right now it just feels boring and uninspired. You could give those abilities to Shyvana and it would still work. You could make a new dragon champ with literally any element and it will work. And that's a bad thing. Riot should be past the point of making generic champions to meet the imaginary quotas of MOBA champion niches. I'm not saying they should scrap the rework entirely, Asol definitely needs it, I just don't think this is the right direction to go in with the goal of keeping his design and themes in tact because its really not.
9:06 - when he said this, it def made me think of Dr. Evil (“throw me a friggen bone, here!”), so then I thought like maybe he was plotting to take over the world or something
What would really make the game more alive is new map skins and/or announcers, it would just needs to change according to what "skin line" are the majority of the players in the match is using, it would not be even "new" as something lile that was already done in the past with the "arcade" theme
Plot twist the new champ is gonna be a cat/dog vastia and the darkin trapped in the sword will be a dog/cat and they're gonna just harass each other the whole time
there was this one fan champion idea people liked long time ago, it was a female darkin blood assassin with a dagger, kindof similar to katarina but with like Scarlet Witch stuff
14:32 buffs being shared would open the opportunity for a lot new interesting strats (especially in pro play) at early levels but it would also take one of the only strengths ivern has. If they decide to add it ivern would either need a rework along with it or some decent buffs compensating.
It would likely hit Ivern's pickrate extremely hard, but it would be really cool if buffs drop the orb baseline so that you can still get the gold and exp, but someone else can get the buff if they wanted to (It would also encourage more people to leash lane since they get a free buff to make up for the potential exp loss if leash and their enemy laner doesn't)
