The Unseen Elder is the ultimate and final evolution of an introvert.

He's lucky my lvl 80 God Mode Geralt was in a cutscene, Unseen Elders cheeks would've been mine.

"you waste my time" says that while he sits there for like 200 years and doing nothing than sleeping and hanging from he ceiling.

That has got to be one of the most depressing fates ever. To sit a threshold and never know if youll ever get home again and death does not come for you.

Unseen elder is not more powerful than a random guard in the Novigrad. Those guards also kill Geralt in one strike.

Geralt problably pulled off many impossibles, such as making the useen elder laugh.

I really loved this quest. It was refreshing to see Geralt, the dude that has been killing everyone and everything that gets in his way for 200+ hours of gameplay, try to not piss off someone that could easily take him out.

Would've been cool if you could've taken a dose of black blood in advance and had a different cutscene.

Who is the Unseen Elder? Well, simple, really: The Unseen Elder is a cranky old man who hates seeing young whipper-snappers show up on his front lawn because they always mess up his decor' and leave muddy footprints all around. Oh, and he is also a one-shot badass with no weaknesses, and ends up killing you in a cutscene if you end up curious enough to click on the extra dialogue options as opposed to being straightforward.

It's funny how upset some people get when something in the Witcher universe is stronger than Geralt

I'd love to see the original world of the humans.

This begs the question, if only a small amount of vampires came through and only hardley even a handful are the unseen elders, imagine what the lords of their world are like. I guess they would be considered the gods of their race considering that vampires are usually run by monarchys of there respective regions. Plus i cant see a vampire lord going through a random portal to another realm.

I dare not imagine, since he's 'just the guard' of this pathway, what lies on the other side short of 'heart attack central'. If you'd even have time to have one that is.

Pssh... My yrden game is on point, I got this one family.

During my play through I got the key to the hideout but changed my mind at the last moment to go free Syanna, forgetting all about the Unseen Elder in the process. Finished the main and most of the sidequests now and just exploring when I happen across this cave next to a Place of Power. Open it up and do some exploring, find a sweet sword and some ancient coins and oh whats this? a cutscene? what have I stumbled across here some kind of secret maybe? then I died lol

I think the developers meant to showcase the strength of vampires in the DLC. The final fight with Detlaf was epic, even for a witcher. Geralt threw everything that he could against Detlaf, and managed to temporarily incapacitate him. As if the strength and speed weren't enough, higher vampires can also regenerate like crazy. That is why it took another vampire to kill him - by draining all his blood and presumably life force. Vampires are like organic magic. Mages take magic force from the environment and harness it to create spells and imbue items. It's as though each cell in a vampire's body is already imbued with magic somehow. So, given how difficult it was for Geralt to stop Detlaf, I can feel safe in saying the elder vampires are probably as strong or stronger than any other living creature in the Witcher universe. We haven't seen an elder dragon yet, so it's possible they are still the strongest living things. I was annoyed when Geralt got one shot in a cutscene by the elder....but it makes sense. Like I said, the fight with Detlaf took Geralt to the limit. If the Unseen Elder is strong enough to make Detlaf afraid - you understand why Geralt never got the chance to actually put up a fight. As a side note, I don't think the Elders can actually detect vampires by any sort of magical means. In the game, Regis sent one of his ravens to the cave once he and Geralt arrived at the old castle. I also don't think the Elders can literally control the other vampires. I think you can tell this because Regis was constantly shaking. He was not completely still - as he could be if he wanted to be. I think he was shaking out of fear. The command that the Elders have over other vampires is that of respect / fear. At least that's what I think. Detlaf knew that if he didn't obey the Elder that he would be attacked, possibly killed. The theme was there that disrespect was the one thing that the Unseen Elder didn't tolerate ("You waste my time..." then boom death).

I think O Dim can take him down, but they dont have a reason to fight, and the type of power they have is very different, but G.O.D. Is scarier, at least for me...

The Unseen Elder concept reminds me of the monster origins in the Supernatural series. It's a really cool idea and creates a lot of mystery and fear around whoever these "original/elder" monsters are

we don't know the unseen elders name but perhaps he does not have one or if he does either we cannot comprehend it or perhaps he himself doesn't even remember. I love characters like this in games and books because the philosopher in me wants to question them find out all I can it is just fascinating

I think that the unseen elder rarely feeds. He doesn’t consume beings from this world and in doing so, he gives himself a sort of imposed life expectancy. He is waiting to go back to his own world, and every time he is forced to confront or even speak with someone, he is shortening his own life. That would explain a lot about his motives and lack of patience.

I'm sure that there are some potions that make a Witcher faster and can react much faster? There are so many potions and I think with those you can take on the Unseen Elder.

honestly all feel funny because killing a higher vampire is very very close to impossible not an unseen elder lol these vampires are in whole another level....higher ones are nothing compared to them and look what a higher ones can do....would not want to see unseen elder in action

There's a few things that intrigue me here 🤔 First of all - the Unseen Elder in Gwent (younger) has pointy ears, just like an elf, if not even more distinct. While the older him in Blood&Wine quest has... totally human/rounded ears. Been wondering what might be the reason for that? Could that be what Regis mentioned in Baptism of Fire - that the vampire race mutated? If yes, then would that mean their ears going from pointy/elven like to rounded/human like were supposed to help them - by getting as similiar physically as possible - with getting close to their prey - humans, just how some animals disguise themselves? If so, it'd make sense for Regis and Dettlaff and other, younger vampires born long AFTER the CoS to 'mutate' rounded ears, but the Unseen Elder? What could the reason be if he doesn't even really leave his caves? Another thing is the eyes - at first I thought the scleras might chance from white to black as a vampire ages, but perhaps it was just another thing the 'original' vampires in their own world had and younger ones born in human world evolved into not having anymore? I might be getting too much into it, but can't help but wonder.

8:38 i would actually probably assume that if the other unseen elders were of a different power than the one of toussaint, they would be less strong. this one sits at the gate that vampires first arrived through and hates human contact, so i would think he is one of the older unseen elders, therefore one of the strongest.

When I played Blood & Wine and was at this point with the Unseen Elder, it was more than a shock or something like that to see Geralt "weak" like that when the Elder just plays with Geralt like a puppet. It would be awesome if there's another Witcher Game where you have an enemy like the Elder where you need some preparations to make it possible to fight this enemy. After all I'm pretty sure there are more powerful beings than the Unseen Elders.

I think speaking doesn't physically hurt him, more so emotionally. I think he spends his time in a torpor, to make time seem to pass faster, and when he has to interact, he is very much aware of his perception of time slowing.

My blackblood potions i used before I tried to take him on but its my reactions to if it he can be beaten. My fav Blood and wine. Definitely doing another video on this if it is possible to see him in a Witcher 4 game
