I literally immediately thought it was Kaga and then when I looked up theories I found out that it wasn't just my own idea 😭 it's like a collective crackpot theory
I thought the zero emblem to be anri, marth's ancestor, because sombron said that the zero emblem fought alone and brave marth, in heroes, says that anri won his battles alone. Also anri could have been the foundation. It could also be the next protagonist for the next fire emblem game. Make engage 2 for us to know who the zero emblem is.
Anri was just a single ordinary guy that earned the ability to use the falchion and fought a few dragons, there's really no game there, maybe like a 3 chapter dlc to an fe4 remake like how fe12 had a dlc covering the satelaview game's prequel to fe1/11
The Emblem of Foundation is a plot point that makes me unable to sleep soundly, has no appetite, and makes me unable to focus on my daily activities because I keep thinking about this. My life feels empty not knowing more about Zero Emblem. The feeling of emptiness is the same as Fire Emblem without Shozou Kaga 😔
It's of course Zero from Megaman What? You think I am wrong? Sigma finds Zero in a dark, gloomy lab inside a cave, Zero becomes a Biometal which is pretty much what an emblem ring is, and Zero is both good and evil. So yeah, Zero is Emblem Zero
@@just-mees honestly why wasn't it grima directly? Engage is celebrating fire emblem and awakening is quite literally what kept the series going and was the first to celebrate the past with how many references it had to the older stories Sombron is a fell dragon species so the entire story was set up for this
Sombron's forces never reach the Somniel. The rings are taken from the vault in Lythos castle. Alear first learns about the Somniel AFTER the rings get stolen, so that whole thing did not happen in the Somniel.
My bet. The emblem zero is Alear himself. Do you remember the tutorial map? It's not like the Awakening one in which we see a glimpse of a potential future of Robin. In that we see Alear, the 4 lords, NO Veyle and we kill Sombron alone with marth. sombron doesn't even transform. My theory is that Alear (13th emblem) and Sombron come togheder in Elyos, then Sombron forgets his past while Alear disappears. Also Sombron says in the snow chapter that he came because he sensed an Emblem he has not seen in a lot of time. In other words there are 2 Alears (3 with the one of the fell xenologue): 1 tutorial Alear which disappears after the arrival in Elyos, 2 protagonist alear (his story is told in the game), 3 fell xenologue alear (dies way before the start of the story).
I feel like all your evidence points a different direction. Familiar pedestal Searching in caves Not seen before ch4, not in the postgame Obviously the Emblem of Foundations is Sommie
okay but unironically >Usually found in dark and gloomy places like, maybe a thief? >"Emblem of Foundations" someone who founded something important clearly. like, a country maybe? >always trying to slip away and not stay attached to people this may have given sombron the impression of a strong warrior but could have easily also been someone cowardly trying to stay out of trouble... it's Lithis from Thracia and they're going with the paratext that made him out to be Archanea's founder.
I feel like the writers just pulled the zero emblem out of their ass to generate sympathy for him at the last second without the necessary buildup. It could've been an interesting mystery if they established it as his motivation earlier, but unfortunately this is a fire emblem game.
Maybe it's a Cipher character? The logo for Cipher kind of resembles a 0, and Cipher was discontinued. Maybe it's Cipher as a whole and Sombron just wanted to play a card game.
Feet emblem so someone with bare feet. We got corrin azura Sothis your chain sister etc. But honestly the writers probably don't know or will reveal some new character in heroes to connect to engage
Interesting choice to go with the only recently announced swimsuit Alear for the thumbnail for this "Zero Emblem" discussion... a very appealing choice as well. 0:34 - An interesting aspect, given no other Emblem is shown to have done this. One would assume the Emblem would also be ghost like the other Emblems, but perhaps that is tied to their ring status. 1:53 - Gosh darn it; really got me with the serious build up only to deliver a joke at the very end. Truthfully, Sommie being the Zero Emblem would make a lot of sense.
Sombron’s army never actually searches the somniel, you’re thinking of the ring chamber in Lythos Castle, which isn’t the somniel (but it is where they steal the emblems from)
I always figured it was some version of Alear. Sombron had long forgotten faces so he doesn’t recognize present Alear. When he finally meets the Emblem of foundations again, he’s looking straight at Alear and Veyle, making us think that he’s seeing something we can’t, but I think it really him just recognizing that all along it has been Alear. Kinda a weird theory considering the emblem is a version of his own future kid but🤷♂️
Also the whole thing we being sent to the past and Sombron recognizing the presence of an emblem that he hadn’t seen I a long time, but I’ll stop ruining the joke just beyond like talking about real theories😂
The emblem didn't leave the ring, sombron engaged with it and hasn't realized it because he didn't see himself or the emblem as one to rely on others and didn't even consider he could fuse with it
May it be Itsuki Aoi from TMS:FE? although, im not sure that they fought alone and were power hungry.. ive also read somewhere that the zero emblem is fallen alear, they just called it otherwise in their world "Burn us" instead of "Connect us"
It may be a joke ending but I think you are closer than most. The "Emblem of Foundations" may not be Kaga, but Nintendo has a history of using the fourth wall within their stories. Since Sombron looks at the player, then the response of Vale and Alear is toward the player as well, it can be interpreted as the one he was looking for is the player. To go further, it could be a jab at Kaga. Since Engage is actually a celebration and not really a "main game", Sombron can be an allegory to old Fire Emblem, while the player (most specific Lumina) can be a stand-in for modern Fire Emblem. In this light Sombron's realization [Old FE-- Kaga's FE], is his first time "engaging" with the player. Regardless if it was a jab or not, or a declarement to leave the "Old FE" mindset, Vale and Alear makes it certain that the final words where beyond the scopes of the game.
I really like the cases for both Anri and Sommie here!! I always thought it was Sombron himself, becoming that ring after the events of Engage, leaving him when he's no longer alone and triggering his fall to villainy all over again. Fits snugly with both his vision of Zero Emblem, looking at his children, and the disappearance of the ring right when he bites it. Some Final Fantasy Garland/Chaos type shit.
My unironic opinion is that Zero Emblem is the protag of the next FE game and the title will have the word "Foundation" or "Founders" or something like that. I know this is a meme vid, but I might as well throw my thoughts out there anyway.
@@AzumarillConGafasBv I never said it would be a sequel. I mean it'll obviously tie in with Engage, but considering the game would be set in the world that Zero Emblem came from, the connection would probably barely matter. I get your point though.
I actually thought a similar thing on my first playthrough. The only issue being the rings they would have available are kind of bad. Only main characters they could really pull from are the likes of alm and eliwood, or even shez lmao
Im convinced no one here has ever watched a movie or experienced any form of cinematography. Sombron comes to the realization as hes dying looking Alear in the eyes. Its Alear 😐
I think that it was Kris to be honest. We have to take Sombrons words as it is. Legend Says that the Emblem fought without allies but thats only what Sombron knows- Fell Dragon power compels emblems but they can no longer talk. Kris’ name became a shadow in history, technically speaking if Marth is the Emblem of Beginning, Kris was the foundation of Marth’s kingdom as one of his Knights. Kris was also the first player character to be introduced so when he looks at Alear and Veyle, he looks at the player character, at Kris. Kris is from a Village, and the places that Sombron describes are places that would be familiar to Kris. Did the emblem leave Sombron because he thought he was weak? Or because he knew he was taken care of by the village. Emblem strength seems subjective at best and not tied to their respective hero. (i.e Leif is included solely because hes the mc of a game) The Emblems can refuse a summon, but as shown with Alear at the end of Engage, The rings can run out of power, and the emblem disappears.
Sommie being the Zero emblem would make a lot of sense but would also be nonsense. Genuinely, i just assumed it was a hint towards the main character of the next fe game.
I was thinking about this video today, and I suddenly got a really interesting thought. Now, all I know about Engage is what I watched Mangs stream, I know nothing about the Xenologue or whatever it's called, so I might be wrong. However, please hear me out: Apparently, many people here seem to think Alear is a good candidate. One comment under this video mentioned cinematography as an argument, Sombron sees Zero Emblem when dying and looking at Alear. However, Alear can't be the Zero Emblem for one big reason (no not because she's his daughter, maybe Sombron has amnesia): Alear becomes an Emblem during the events of the game and has her own ring, while Sombron has the Zero Emblem its ring. So unless the writers decide you can be two Emblems at the same time (honestly I wouldn't be surprised), Alear can't logically be the Zero Emblem. But now, let's go back to the cinematography argument. Let's assume it's correct, Sombron was looking at the Zero Emblem, only realising it when dying. Alear wasn't the only one he was looking at, there was someone else. That's right, Veyle. But wait, there's more. Thinking Veyle is the Zero Emblem based purely on the cinematography and the fact it can't be Alear isn't all. Veyle can't summon Emblems. I don't remember the term used in the game, but Veyle is a flaw or something like that, and therefore can't summon. But what if she can't summon Emblems, because she IS an Emblem. And yes I know Alear can still summon even though she became an Emblem, but that may be because she became one instead of being one from the start. However, I have one more argument, my favorite. What I hated most about Engage's bad writing was the bad ending. Althought it looks cool, it doesn't make any sense. Sombron very clearly stated he wanted to kill Veyle. He doesn't care about his children, she's flawed, and she failed him multiple times. And yet, in the bad ending, Veyle is once again faithfully serving him while he triumphantly tells Alear everyone is dead. Again, Sombron clearly said he wanted to kill Veyle, so it doesn't make any sense for her to be alive, let alone serve him, in the bad ending. EXCEPT if he realised she's the Zero Emblem. Unless the Xenologue or whatever it's called gives some information about this, Veyle being the Zero Emblem is the ONLY explanation for the bad ending (aside from absolute dogshit writing). But do I WANT Veyle to be the Zero Emblem? No. Veyle is a cute loli who needs a new daddy or whatever, she has her role. The Zero Emblem is presumably very powerful, so I hope it's either a cool new character, or just Kaga.
Yeah I agree, I think the bad ending is a really cool concept but doesn't make a lot of sense like you said. As far as veyle goes, in the xenologue they explain that the fell dragons are born as pairs with one having a dragonstone and one not with sombron usually killing the weaker one or both. So veyle is from a pair without a dragonstone of her own and alear is from a different pair with a dragonstone (which they don't have during the events of the game). Now I didn't pay a massive amount of attention to the deep lore of the xenologue but perhaps that has something to do with if you can summon or not.
Naaaaaaah i think the zero emblem is the chess queen Its a weird change engage made that they chose the queen over the king but they wanted to have a more diverse cast this is why i believe they chose the chess queen
Dragon bro played Fates in japanese and refuses to translate Zero's name to Niles I think the funniest answer to the Zero Emblem question is that Sombron is lying very badly to waste time
