For an essay (worth 25% of my grade) I got to choose a topic and it turned out that I argued that hamsters need large cages and lots of bedding depth. I cited your videos as outside sources, and it really helped me nail the essay down, I hope you don't mind! The essay actually convinced a person in the class to confront her cousin about getting a larger cage for her hamster. Thanks for all you've taught me, and many others!
It really shows how much room hamsters really do need. I was hoping it would be a forth hamster, but im glad dipper will be happier in his new enclosure! :)
@@theadventuresofmuffin1277 You should upgrade as female syrians need a lot more space than other hamsters. It’s awesome that you have a lot of deep bedding for her though! as that’s also important :)
Last week I came home and my wife and son got a hamster. I didn't know the first thing about hamsters but the first thing I said was that cage is to small. So I'm in the process of building a diy enclosure. You're videos have helped a lot. Thanks so much
I became a member of Victoria Raechel’s channel by donating 1 dollar a month to her, and you can earn a sticker next to your name for the number of months that you have been a member.
So happy to be back again watching your vids after we got hit by a super typhoon in our country which caused a wide shutdowns of electricity, water, and signal for freaking 5 days. It was hard but thank god we survived❤️❤️
But sadly when I had 2 dwarf hamsters I 1. Housed them together 2. I gave them only 1 wheel between the two of them 3. I gave them a too small cage 4. It was a male and female but when I found out about your channel I tried to upgrade his life (because the female died) but then he sadly passed away in November! But I’m getting a baby Syrian in the new year and imma try give it the best life possible! 💗💗
You may have answered this somewhere but I’m not sure which video it would be in, but how often would you recommend reorganizing/changing the layout of your enclosure? Not clean or change the bedding, but simply change the layout. Is this beneficial to your hamster or does this simply just stress your hamster?
This makes sense. Thanks for the extra! Hope you are happy in this enclosure, Dipper! And Victoria, do you know how much the pet mini hamster cameras cost?! I am thinking about getting one.❤️
Can you also make a video of hamster care in different countries like I live in India so like what can you buy for your hamster like cage , sand , wheel etc. Just like a hamster care list in different countries and also please include India.
My hamster has been doing this for a while and I have been very scared my hamster will escape she has been doing this for a while and I have everything that will keep her happy and has a wonderful amount of space but she keeps chewing on the wood and she opens her mouth to like scratch it. My mom told me I should try getting a large fish tank because they are made of glass so I am asking for your opinion if this will help 🙂 thanks I love watching your video!
Love all your videos! I would like to get a multichamber hideout on stilts or legs so they could have more bedding below it like yours, did you make it or buy it somewhere??
How do you think I can persuade my parents to buy me this cage as I have the hamster heaven cage and I would really like this cage for my winter white dwarf hamster I have wanted this cage for a while. I don’t think they think it’s easy to make if really appreciate your help! :)
Hi! So I got my Strain hamster a 20 gallon with 360 square inches but I decided to upgrade to a bin cage with a little more then 612 square inches but I didn't but mesh on top instead I drilled holes in the top I habe done this with mice before but I haven't seen anyone do it so I was wondering if its okay.
My hamster has a 864 square inch cage and my hamster chews on screws on his cage in the corners, and he does it on his water too. I don’t know why… can u tell me?because I can’t get the proper items…
As a small animal rescuer I always recommend keeping old enclosures. Had an old beardie (after deep cleaning and sanitizing) made great for an improved mouse tank for my rescues. I'm using your building videos to help make a bigger one
I loved your explanation for why some large enclosures aren’t large enough for some hamsters! Some of my family, though still supportive, don’t understand why my Syrian isn’t happy in the homemade 2x4 ft. enclosure I have. I got the Ikea pax for my birthday, and Mr. Maple will be moving in soon😊
I had a sneaking suspicion it was for dipper haha. I’m really glad that you were able to do this for him! You’ve taught me so much about hamsters. I was able to improve the life of my last ham so much thanks to you. I’m on a waiting list for a Syrian right now and I’m so excited about it! You’ve given me a lot of hamster mom confidence haha
I also had a female, syrian hamster that died and she didnt have the best start of her life either. When she was one she got her 800 square inch cage. Now I have another female syrian and she has a good start.
This is weird for me to say but I'm, in a way, happy that this happened to you, just so hamsters getting an upgrade gets more normalized. My Syrian female was in a very good sized enclosure with everything she could need and I had to upgrade her. She was showing stress signs like Dipper. She is in a 160cm x 80cm enclosure and still looks like she wants to get out sometimes! Just today I bought a second hand Alexander cage to serve as second cage for play time, along with her play pen, just because I want her to be as happy as I can make her. Keeping hamsters is hard work...she is my first and, oh boy, I wasn't prepared!
We switched from the medium to the large niteangel when we acquired a very needy female syrian. We've ended up using the medium several times as an emergency enclosure for last minute rescues. Really I'd only use the medium for dwarves but there have been a few times where we've had to house syrians in the medium for a few hours or overnight.
Hi. Sorry to reply late! First of all, unfortunately hamsters can not be a pair. Dwarfs can be pairs occasionally but its not good for them, you will need 2 of everything wheel, water bowl, sand bath, etc and second of all, it is not big enough. I recommend the large one for one hamster! Hope this helped x
Hi Victoria I might be getting 2 hamsters!! I told my mum about the 450 sq inch floor of the cage but I found out that hamsters cant live together. Is it a particular hamster or all hamsters
Hi Victoria I just got an hamster unexpectedly for Christmas and since I’ve been watching your videos I already know all about hamsters! Thank you so much
I just got a Chinese dwarf, and I just wanted to say you've improved my care tremendously! Both me and my ham are so very grateful, thank you for helping us, and so many others so our hammies can live a good life
Hi! I watched your video and subbed to the channel, but here's some tips 😉 1. Hamsters DO NOT like to climb, most of the time they will climb the cages because their trying to find a way out. 2. Hamsters DO NOT chew the bars because they like too or because their trying to sharpen their teeth, they do it because their trying to find a way out. 3. I saw that you have cotten nesting in Levi's little hide, cotten is not very good for hamsters, when eaten it can cause blockages and kill the hamster, it can also get caught on the hamsters limbs and cause the hamster the CHEW off its own limb. So those are just some tips 🙂 Levi is so cute 😍
i wish more company’s sold bigger cages, i got the biggest enclosure i could (UK) after i realised my care was wrong but it’s only 90x60cm and i wish i could fit more enrichment in it, i might consider doing another upgrade and ensure it’s deeper, luckily my ham is happy in his enclosure at the moment
Sadly I’m not allowed to get this cage or the IKEA detolf, so I was wondering is the three tier pawhut cage a suitable size? I know hamsters can be happy in 1000 square inch cages and some won’t be. But would you recommend it ?😊 I have a winter white dwarf hamster 🐹 ( she is around 1 year old) I appreciate your help!!! 🐹🐹🐹😊😊😊
The pawhut is actually technically bigger than the detolf and it's simple to remove the platforms to increase the bedding depth, so I would say it's better than the detolf.
@@VictoriaRaechel my dad has looked at the IKEA detolf, IKEA linnmon and the rectangular pawhut cage he likes all of them, but he prefers the linnmon yet I know he doesn’t want it to take hours to make it. If you know, is the pawhut straight forward to assemble?
I love your videos!🐹 You are the reason my hamster (Nala) is happy! I’ve had hamsters in the past and until I started watching your videos my hamsters had been living in store bought cages which are very small! I didn’t even know bin cages were a thing. As soon as I knew my pet care wasn’t meeting its requirements I went to buy a bin. Nala is now living in a 521sq inch bin cage with lots of chew toys and hide outs. I also bought a niteangel hideout I love it! You are the reason my hamster is living the way she is today. I thank you so much Victoria for helping me! I plan on increasing the size of my cage as I go! I can’t thank you enough!❤️ I hope you see this. 🐹
Have you made a video on what the sticks of grasses/seeds or whatever are that you put in towards the end of filling this enclosure? I'd love to get some for my Syrian's enclosure but haven't been able to find any and it would probably help if I knew what to search for lol thank you so much for all your content, I have learned so much and am so grateful to have found your channel while trying to build my hamster the best enclosure and diet that I can!
Love the Gravity Falls names, and the show itself! I started it last week and already finished it! Its SOOOO good! You should totally name your next pet Soos hehe
I find your videos about hamster Care very helpful for taking care of my hamster . thank you for helping me learn how to take care of my dwarf hamster, Humphrey, .
My hamster used to do that too in the middle of the night and I had to move to another room, so I changed it to a 900 square inch and she never did it again :)
My hamster did the same thing in her Niteangel enclosure here & there for the first few months she was in it. It seemed more of a "what is this?" because technically if you don't use aquarium glue to seal it the plastic COULD be pulled up from the edges. I had since then moved her wooden houses over to that side & started hiding toys underground there for her. She chews the toys & house stilts now & doesn't care about the plastic anymore.
When I first saw the other video I immediately assumed it was a fourth hamster but then realized you were probably upgrading one of your hamsters to a bigger enclosure! This video was still very exciting although it wasn't what a lot of us expected :) I absolutely love cage set up videos, seeing natural enclosures just makes me so happy! Love how everything turned out, you really do make amazing set ups 💞💕
Hey Victoria! I really appreciate your understanding towards hamsters, smaller animals ect. I’m aware that you obviously don’t know everything there is to know about hamsters, however I have a question I hope you’d be able to answer. So my 2 year old Syrian hamster recently started waking up with white matter basically gluing his eyes together. At first we suspected something peculiar in his cage, however we’ve done some research and figured that it happens to hamsters when they get old? My concern here is how do I treat it without hurting him, or is it natural for his eyes to be stuck closed? Referring to the video I really appreciate the time you spend for your hamster(s) and I bet dipper is pleased with his current enclosure!
Thank you! Usually with sticky eyes you can just use a damp cloth to help the eye to open up, if it seems to be getting worse seeing a vet may be good just in case it's an eye infection!
So you say you have to add six feet or more bedding but my hamster tryed it but he does not like it I'm not trying to say it like you're doing something wrong I'm just saying my hamster doesn't like it and yeah I might have a small cage but he seems to enjoy it and what does it my hamsters cheek started going red and started to get really dry so I don't know what to do do you have any suggestions
6 feet is taller than me haha I assume you mean inches. What was the indication that he did not like it? some hamster's need deeper bedding and it shouldn't be taken away as not all hamster's burrow instantly. If his cheek is red and dry it would be best to see a vet.
Hi Victoria! I just wanted to let you know you inspired me of how to take proper care of my hamster and now I am thinking of trying to find a big clear bin since I have realized that my hamster cage is too small because I was not very clearly introduced about taking care of hamsters if that makes sense. I have watched a lot of your videos and I like when you set up cages because it is so organized. Thank you so much for making these videos and I have learned so much. Don't listen to the haters
I just upgraded my Syrian hamster, Persephone, to a 90 gallon tank. I don't have the exact measurements but it's bigger than the 200 qt bin she was in. My other hamster, Snow, is in a 200qt bin ... oh she's a Chinese hamster. I like the web cam idea because I'm always curious what they do when I'm not there or when I'm asleep
Hi Victoria! I was wondering if you could give me advise. My Syrian hamster is constantly biting his bars in the same place a lot. He has got toys and chews but he doesn’t use them?
I had the same exact issue with this enclosure and it’s the largest one. Paid over $300 after shipping. This cage is lowkey rlly junky and flimsy, not designed well especially for the price 😬😬🙄. Not that worth it, I should have just built the cage but no one would do it for me. I could have done that 😭
What I did with my old hamster cage when I was done using it was I turned it into a garden for all the plants I wanted to have but didn’t want my dogs to touch, and it works well for me, just an idea :)
Hi, Victoria! Which size are the paper bedding bags you are using? maybe 85L? I'm wondering because I want to build a cage with the same dimensions but I don't know how many paper bedding I have to buy
Hi! I just want to ask how many(approximately) kg of paper bedding do you need to fill your hamster enclosure. Because in my country, paper bedding is so expensive so I need to approximate how many I will need to buy. Thank you!
Amazing video! And I need some help because my old hamster sadly past away and I have gotten a new hamster and her name is marble but the cage is a very wide and has three storys and I'm looking for a wheel for her but the ground area has plastic walls and the upper storys has the regular metal cage walls and the lowest floor is designed for hamster to dig alot. And idk what breed marble is but she is very small. I want a silent wheel on the ground but idk what size to get.
Hey I have a Russian dwarf hamster that is trying to chew on some plastic from my terrarium (it has front doors). My terrarium is 120cm by 50cm and I gave her as much enrichment as I can give her and I gave her enough bedding to burrow. She has enough chewingtoys but. I can’t upgrade the enclosure more because I don’t have enough space In my room. What can I do?
My hamster : show no boredom signs in his 612 inch floorspace enclosure Me: upgrade! Let’s move you to a 915 inch enclosure 🤗 My hamster: *b o r e d o m*
My hamster recently had mites and now i have no money to get all his cool things back, but hes got 1000+ SIOF and 7” of bedding but the cage is a bit plain ;-;
Hi everyone! I was hoping someone could help me out with an issue I’m having. I have a hamster that is actually blind. I just want to know if there would be anything extra I could add to help him live a better life and everything. Thanks!!
I sorta have anxiety 😟 when I can’t see my puppy 🐶 like if I leave the house I start getting worried about him and wonder 💭 if he’s hungry or or bored or sad
My Robo is currently living in a 75 gallon tank which is very large especially for a Robo but every now and then he will look like he’s trying to climb the glass which is a sign that he needs more space so yes All hamsters are different my Robo is in a very large cage and is showing signs that he needs more space so I am currently in the process of trying to figure out how to give him a larger enclosure LOL
Hello our beautiful hamster guide please recommend us what is your hamsters bathroom ♥️ Im new to hammies they literally pee anywhere in there cages it makes me busy changing the beddings haha I have (Long Haired Syrian Hamster) over all they are so cute they even know my where's my room 🤣
My past hamster used to do that but then we upgraded her to 1116 square inch inclosure. We provided her with lots of enrichment but she still did that sometimes. What did I do wrong?
When you get branches/logs for your hamster cages, where do you get them, what kind are they? I just don't want to get anything that will be bad for him.
