Gary left us Super Bowl Sunday of 2011, passing from a massive heart attack while vacationing in Spain. Adogg, if you love this, check out his solo from his cover of The Yardbirds' "Shapes of Things," from his 1984 album "Victims of the Future." Pure fire that slows to a steady simmer as he transitions back to the song's main theme, and then it's back to fire again to finish the song. When Rolling Stone magazine published their list of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time and didn't place Gary Moore on the list, they proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that they know absolutely fuck-all about music. Cheers partner!

I'm glad you discovered Gary Moore. He was truly one of a kind, as in "there could never be another." Sadly, he passed away eleven years ago, but at least we have his incredible music to remember him by my Gary Moore was considered a national treasure in Ireland; even though he was raised in England, Irish people still consider him one of our own due to him spending so much of his early career in Ireland. He could play virtually any style of guitar music (rock, blues, hard rock, heavy metal and even country) as well as (or even better than) the acknowledged masters of that style. But it was only once he switched to the blues that he really came into his own. He shared the stage with some of the greatest blues players in history, and they were awed by his incredible feel...he just "got it!" If you want to witness a veritable "master class in coolth," check out the live video of Gary and B.B. King himself playing "The Thrill Is Gone" live. It is such a pleasure to watch and listen to those two true masters trade licks on that track!😁

I recommend listen to the entire discography of him alone. But seeing him live in his videos is even better, it was unique. For me and for many he will be our teacher forever. I will continue learning from him for life. He left early but he left us a legacy.

The real King of Blues. To bad he is no longer with us but he was a deeply spiritual Christian man and that is why he plays with so much depth and in every dimension. He knew what life was all about. Thank you for having been around Gary, may you rest in peace !

One of the most powerful performances I have ever seen - Hammersmith 1984 - Incredible Show!

1984 Hammersmith was a legendary show! I’ve been there and totally mesmerised for his incredible guitar sounds. I was so lucky to have watched it while I was living in London that year. Later he came to Japan few times but I couldn’t make it to the show. Still unbelievable he’s not here with us.

Gary Moore one of the greatest guitar masters to come out of Ireland. His contribution to the metal and blues world is legendary. Can't believe you've never heard of him before.

Gary Moore. The Man. The Myth. The legend. He was one of the best blues guitarists of the modern era. Let alone Thin Lizzy. Let alone one of the best shredders in the early 80's. His cover of Shapes of Things made most shredders hang their heads like whipped dogs. The man was a Master Guitarist. Check out cuts like The Loner Over the Hills and Far Away Out in the fields Is it rock? Is it metal? Is it blues? Like the critical drinker says "Don't know". I just know it as GARY MOORE!!!

I was lucky enough to see him at the Shepherds Bush Empire, doing a one off show called Blues For Greeny, from Fleetwood Mac fame, who coincidentally gave that 59 Les Paul to Gary. I say gave, it was for whatever money Gary had on him, which was about £100!! Kirk Hammet now owns that guitar. Absolutely awesome. Peter Green came onstage that night too and took a bow, first time in years. He then went on to do the Splinter group, who again I was fortunate enough to see a few times. :)

Gary had that ability to be minimalistic when the music demanded, like Peter Green and David Gilmour.
