Thank you, thank you, thank you so much for reacting to this. This is my favorite song from Boston off their second album Don't Look Back. "Don't Look Back" is also a great song you can react to. The whole first Boston Album is full of bangers, IMHO, the greatest debut album in history. Just do all of them starting with "More Than A Feeling". You probably heard that one before. Then do the second album and then the third album "Third Stage", including "Amanda" and "Holly Ann". The singer is Brad Delp, RIP. Very powerful vocals. The lead guitar is Tom Scholz, an MIT graduate who created the Boston sound and invented devices that many musicians still use today. Thanks and God Bless.

You need to check out “More than a feeling” and “Foreplay/longtime”! The WHOLE album was recorded by Tom Scholz(band member) in his basement with him playing ALL the instruments and Brad’s voice added later

The first two albums from Boston are both masterpieces. Vocals and guitar work and incredible harmonization. Boston fan pretty much my whole life and they never ever get old.

The fact Brad Delp isn't at the top of every "Best Rock Vocalist" list is a crime. This is a cut-down version of the studio recording, edited into concert footage to look as though it's a live performance. The full length version is even more amazing.

I had the privilege of singing backup vocals on a couple songs with Boston at the Texas Jam on their third stage tour. Brad died the same day as my 99 year-old grandmother. I cried for both 😔

Interesting fact; Tom Sholtz, the guitarist. Wrote, produced, and played all the instruments on their debut album...from his basement! He then found his friend, Brad Delp to do the vocals. He then shopped it around to several labels. They all turned him down. Eventually one said yes. They started playing the lp on local radio stations, and it took off. After that, they said "well, now we have to find a band". So they recruited the other members, and the rest is rock and roll history! Their debut album was the greatest of all time for decades, and to this day, is still one of the most successful ever.

Once upon a time I had my first car and a cassette player (no radio). I had 4 or 5 cassettes. I played my Boston cassette more than all the others combined. Everywhere I went I was playing Boston songs.

That is the late great Brad Delp a most underrated singer R.I.P.

Bred Delp had the voice of an angel. In my opinion he's the greatest rock singer ever. And DAMN the sound Tom gets from his guitar. That's why he INVENTED HIS OWN EQUIPMENT. INVENTED it himself. Hearing you call Brad's voice a blessing is spot on. I'm so thankful I grew up at a time when Boston was making great music.

Well this is a good one. I might be a little late to the party but I couldn't help but get here for a first time reaction. A MAN I'LL NEVER BE is so unexpectedly beautiful heavy melancholy and melodic there has never been such a record. Brad DELP has sensitivity in his vocals that hit you hard. The guitar riff is one of the most beautifully composed and mixed parts in the song . Very memorable.

Many hits by them in the latter part of the 70's. Check out "Don't Look Back", "More than a Feeling", "Don't be Afraid" and "Rock & Roll Band", among many others.

The lead singer of this band is Brad Delp, he died in 2007 at the age of 55, I believe it was suicide. It's really a tragedy, he had one of the best voices ever, I mean the range he had was incredible! This song invokes such emotion, it almost makes me cry every time I hear it. Great reaction to one of my fav Boston songs! It's so nice to hear appreciation for a band I loved in my youth and still love today. Here's are some of my other favs that you might like, "Hitch a Ride", "Let Me Take You Home Tonight" and "Something About You".

In the 70s there were 7 of us and our girlfriends and whenever Boston was in concert within 250 miles of us we went to the concerts. I saw them numerous times in Raleigh and Durham, NC, Charlotte, NC, Atlanta GA, Bristol TN and Nashville TN. Back then in the mid to late 70s there was no "white and black music. It was just (our) music. Our music then as now only had positive meanings. It's great to see all these podcasts finding out now what we have known for almost 50 years. And what you heard in concert was exactly what you heard on the radio, LP, or 8track. It's refreshing to see today's generation learning the positive meanings of our 60s and 70s music.

First time viewer but I know this band.. they came from Massachusetts. For some more great sound check out their debut album "Boston". Released in 1976, it held the best selling debut pop album until 1986 and was loaded: More Than a Feeling, Smokin', Peace of Mind, Amanda, Long Time ...have fun! This song was off of Boston's second album, Don't Look Back. It is my favorite track from that album however, Boston's first album self-titled Boston was genius without a single sub par track on it. Tom Scholtz, the genius behind the music, lyrics, arrangements and instrumentation (pretty much everything else) including developing much of the cutting edge technology put the band on the map. Add in the incomparable vocals of Brad Delp (RIP) on lead and layered in harmonies, you have magic, pure magic. Those of us who first heard this album back in the day not only have that experience but have all of the lived memories associated with it. The power of music can truly transport you to another place and time.

Not the usual first song for Boston. This is from their second album which came out in 1978. Their first album two years earlier broke records for sales especially for any band's first album. Every song from that one is still played on classic rock stations, so if you want to go more into them, listen to them in order from that album. First, the singer is Brad Delp, and the lead guitar is Tom Sholz who wrote and produced every song of their first album and played all the instruments. Brad provided all the vocals. More than a feeling - Written a little about Tom's cousin Maryann. Peace of Mind Foreplay/Long Time - Interesting intro was used at the opening for many concerts Rock and Roll Band - Describes about trying to become a successful band starting by playing local clubs Smokin' - Outstanding keyboard solo Hitch a Ride - Laid back song with a great double guitar solo at the end Something about you Let me take you home tonight Then you can delve into their power hit, Don't Look Back which I always turn the volume up full in the Jeep when driving, and it descries what I think about, when going on a new road trip.

On all of the Boston albums Brad Delp sang on he sang ALL of the vocals by himself. Lead vocals, backup vocals, and harmonies. On their first album all of the music was written AND performed by Tom Scholz in his basement studio. Then he brought in Brad to do the vocals. That got him a record deal so Tom had to put a band together to tour and the rest is history.

Great reaction, I can tell you were truly shocked from their sound. So were we, just as shocked when this came out. My high school days are still fresh in my mind when I hear this stuff. This may sound strange, but we all felt we were a part of the group. When people said Boston, they might as well said brother.

Brad Delp , he passed away sadly a way back...they were great 👍 I was in jr high when they came out....he sang in Beatle mania too a angelic voice...and Tom Shultz is a Genius he made all the amps and cabs and effects . .he also worked for Poloroid in the development of the instamatic camera and used the $ to help him develop the effects and equipment to record the first album with the hit More than a Feeling...Man I'll never be, is on the 2nd album titled ...Don't look back ya good stuff.
