Anyone ever noticed how Flower Bow, Igor, and CMIYGL is essentially a new trilogy? I’m calling it The Love Trilogy. It all stems from Flower Boy, and then Igor and CMIYGL are different perspectives of love triangles.

@@abeultra cherry bomb feels like the transitional period between these two eras (or trilogies in this case). Personally, I think that it sounded so distorted and weird, because Tyler was trying to explore his softer feelings and ideas, much like in flower boy, while still trying to appeal to fans of the original trilogy (Bastard, Goblin and Wolf) thus resulting in this weird abomination of sound that is Cherry Bomb. Still love that album tho.

Baudelaire was also a renown romantic, famous for his grandiose but bleak depictions of love and hapiness, and thus Tyler might have taken his name to emphasize his feelings of what his youth and cherry bomb could have been. Plus, Baudelaire was a notorious drug addict (les paradis artificiels,...) and saw drugs and sex as an escape (almost the only escape) from his sad 19th century reality. Tyler said something about avoiding drugs as much as he could in interviews and public discussions (like the one with converse) as he feared them, he doesn't want them to rule his life.

@@ConverseWithMe Charles Baudelaire's most famous work is "Fleurs du Mal" (Flowers of the evil), a poem compilation (missing the exact English word lol) of poems divided into multiples sections. He was one of the first to write poetry about "not noble" things like death, ugliness or humain vice. Like, he has a whole poem in which he compares a dead animal's body to a young woman (Une Charogne). Because he wrote about themes outside of traditional peotry, Baudelaire got sued and had to remove multiple poems (2 of those including lesbian stuff) In "Fleurs du Mal", Baudelaire tries to escape from "spleen" and to find an "ideal",, notably through drugs and alcohol which allowed him to access "artificial paradises" (paradis artificiels in French)

- I mean passport if I ever mention ID within the video - This one was harder to express because although Baudelaire is a French name, it’s an Italian travelling persona. Loved your analysis on what I think is the album of the year thus far. What I love about this album is that it has a theme and takes listeners on an adventure. In my opinion, this was Tyler's most personal project and really helped me connect to him and understand his evolution. Great video!

Tbh I was a huge Tyler / OF fan when Yonkers dropped and for the buzzing years that followed. I didn't really understand Bastard when it dropped, at least the concept of it. I knew it was creative but it more or less seemed like a silly way to wrap the project up with skits. I didn't really understand the underpinnings that made the album so unique until years later and albums later. I didn't pay as close attention to what Tyler was doing but I would still tune in. Now after all these years I understand that Tyler is about as close to a method rapper (like a method actor) that I have seen in years. He uses these characters to show off different parts of himself and it's through the contrast with his public persona, his character, AND his ACTUAL self that fans connect to him. It's really interesting to think about and I wonder if Tyler had this sort of grand plan imagined all the way back when OF was still one young group of artists or if it's more so something that developed as he experimented with different sounds. Either way with this album and Tyler's consistent track record he's proven himself over and over again at being whole heartedly deserving the title of 'artist'. I love that Tyler doesn't show fear in experimenting with different sounds and imagery with his projects but leans into these characters and aesthetics. All the while he plays these roles you can tell that Tyler is still himself all along. It's not an easy feat to accomplish for any artist to even flirt with these different styles without the public perception of the artist themselves changing and not the thing that they are making. I hope that makes sense. Basically I'm saying Tyler is a bit of a genius.

👉🏾 "Wolfgang" Mozart was a composer (beat maker) & Chuck "Baudelaire" was a poet (lyricist) who mastered rhyme & rhythm. Tyler is a beat maker & lyricist so what he did earlier w/ "Wolfgang" he's doing w/ "Baudelaire" now

Great vid, dude. As a long time Tyler fan since the Goblin/OFWGKTA/Loiter Squad days, I can say with confidence that there has not been a more relatable and inspirational collection of music that has come from Tyler than this most recent one. Of course, everything that preceded CMIYGL built the foundation for the magnitude of the record to be what it was, but this really showcases Tyler's prominence as an artist in a comprehensive way. He's not only become a beautiful lyricist, but also producer and person. It's truly an honor to live in a time where we can witness this growth.

I thought you wanted to dance is the best on the album IMO. I don’t know where I would but CMIYGL, on one hand it explores Tyler’s personality and has intricate detail on everything on the album, while it might not be as much of a concept as IGOR was, it wasn’t going for that title as a concept album, it was going for joy, exploration, storyline and amazing, diverse music, so in conclusion, I would HAVE to put CMIYGL at number #1 In Tyler’s discography.

great breakdown. I'm barley getting off of Igor. I've been on Igor since it came out, but it wasn't until last year, I was fresh out of a breakup I listened to it heavy. However, it wasn't until this past January I was actually living the album. I had a crush on a new person but they ended up not choosing me. It was then I UNDERSTOOD and felt Igor. Now I am entering a new season. Mizz Baudelaire. -Jackie G

CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST- A Series of Unfortunate Events- connected? Ok, everyone, hear me out. I found a couple of posts on this, but I want everyone’s honest feedback because it looks like those threads lead nowhere. These are solely my ideas, thoughts, and connections between the two pieces of work. In the first song of the album, we find Tyler is now SIR BAUDELAIRE which is our first connection to the book series. Second, we get a hint at The Reptile Room (the second book in the series) at the end of the song when DJ DRAMA tells us they’ve been taking Rolls Royce’s to see Alligators. Also, we know that under the guise of Stephano, Count Olaf carried alligator skin SUITCASES, which Tyler has been carrying around with him for a while now as a fashion piece. In the second song, CORSO Tyler asks us to catch him at his other other other other crib. Since the Baudelaire’s are orphans that keep getting moved around, we can follow the theme that they have many homes, as does Tyler Baudelaire. Coincidence? Probably… but I’ll continue anyway. In the third song, LEMONHEAD, we hear, “I don't lean but my house do Off the hill with the mean view (yeah) Nice house, if you look out You can see some eagles and a few yachts Got a roommate, he won't move out If you want smoke, he the cool aunt” we also know in the 3rd book of the series The Wide Window the orphans move in with their aunt Josephine (not their aunt, but that’s what they call her) into a house that leans over a cliff overlooking Lake Lachrymose (where one might see a boat) We can also connect Lemony Snicket (the pseudonym the author of the series gives himself to insert himself in the storyline) with the title of the song LEMONHEAD. Keep the idea of the boat in your head because it is a steady theme in the series and the album. In the fifth song, LUMBERJACK, we hear, “You always keep the picnic blankets in the back ‘Cause you, you never know You never where the fuck you gon’ end up at.” (Which might be an allusion to the picnic the orphans have at Briny Beach in the first book and end up leaving their home to live with Count Olaf) but we also find that Tyler wants us to call him a Lumberjack because he, “wish a nigga would” which is a play on the word wood. In the fourth book, The Miserable Mill, the orphans are now living at the Lucky Smells Lumbermill. Maybe a weak connection, but I’ll take it. In the fifth song, HOT WIND BLOWS, we hear more references to the boats and the luggage because Tyler is always on the move, just like the orphans. The song WILSHIRE is about Tyler being in love with a woman he cannot have because she’s with his friend. Throughout the whole series, we know that Lemony Snicket was in love with a woman he couldn’t have. She went by the name Beatrice. She was once engaged with Lemony but became married to someone in the VFD (a group of people that share a common goal, all three are in said group) There is another allusion to the relationship with this woman in a song from a previous album Flower Boy called See you again, where the chorus sings, “Can I get a kiss? And can you make it last forever? I said I'm 'bout to go to war And I don't know if I'ma see you again” In the last known interaction between Lemony Snicket and Beatrice, he met Beatrice on a street, telling her he would always love her even if he wouldn't see her again. The two shared a departing kiss. I want to note that all the tracks in CMWYGL are in all CAPS. Flower Boy is capitalized normally throughout the album tracklist EXCEPT on RU-vid. The song title and video for SEE YOU AGAIN are in all CAPS and was released 13 months after the album was released. It’s also where we first meet TYLER BAUDELAIRE (we can infer this because of the USHANKA that he wears in the video) where we see him. Only his mouth is illuminated, and the rest of his body is in the shadow except for his EYE. When the word EYE is spoken, it is illuminated and then pushed back into the shadow when the word is spoken again. We all know the importance of the EYE in ASOUE (the tattoo to mark allegiance to the VFD) One more point to make on SEE YOU AGAIN is that it takes place on a boat in the music video. The running theme of boats in the album is a connection because, in the series, there is a boat named the Beatrice, which holds a long history of importance to the series. In the song, WUSYANAME, Tyler says, “Aw you look malnourished” when talking to a woman. At the end of the album, in the song SAFARI, Tyler says, ”The felines name him hour for how long he eat the-wait a minute” which could be connecting the women who he calls Felines to the pair of Lions of the VFD Volunteer FELINE Detectives which are described as lethargic and MALNOURISHED, one having all its ribs visible. Would you mind letting me know your thoughts? I think there are some strong themes and some weaker supporting points. Also, in the music videos, other visuals allude to different themes in the series. -Edward S.

Terrible breakdown. Anyone who listens to the album would’ve known everything you mentioned. Nothing was new. You didn’t even go into the depth in “Safari” possibly the best track off the album. Do us a favor and never talk about Tyler again. You don’t know what you’re talking about just trying to get a check off his greatness
