Just two mates, working on cars.. This is what it's all about. Maybe the bloke at the wreckers where you got the accelerator linkage can help with your clutch issue?

When you take the inspection cover off the clutch is the pivot ball adjustable, it may have to be adjusted out to move the clutch arm forward.

Instead of rebuilding the column linkages for the gearbox, just throw a speco floor shifter that suits the three speed box. Fits easily and easy to use.

I have an LC Torana, so similar vintage, so I assume steering columns are similar. At the bottom of the steering column there is a bush to stop the slop of the column inside the sleeve moving around. They commonly ‘go’ over a long period of time and they don’t make replacements (like they do for HQ onwards). What I have seen done (and intend to do) is get one machined out of appropriate size nylon rod and pressed in.

Great video as always fellas. Little have for you…I’ve found on my engine crane if you lift the arm by hand and hold it up for a few seconds it stays up saving a few minutes jacking it up 👌

FYI when going column shift auto, the trimatic linkages must be on the driver’s side. Later model trimatics had linkages on passenger side. Awesome job👍

I have a xmember that will fit, 6cyl 3spd and V8 Trimatic are same. Also have a Trimatic Steering column for when the V8 goes in.

Man what I would do for a free shipment of high quality tools...you boys 100% deserve. I pretty much not bother any more because I can only afford Tool Pro that work great until they don't and I've pushed through in times past killing the project and my confidence....tbh I spend most my time checking out the tools then the builds 😂 especially since you boys built the MEGA BENCH...your shed is most men's wet dream. All I know is when I'm surrounded by tools it's my happy place when ideas can come to life. Take it from me if a tool breaks don't just replace it save a little replace with a full quality set believe me it's better then suffering having neighbours returning spanners I thrown in a hissy fit....

There should be a spring on rat trap clutch and there is adjustment on rat trap too for adjustment

that rat trap clutch linkage is a pain the early HK's had the crash box with small hydraulic master cylinder system much better than that rat trap the rod shop does a conversion for it using the fc slave cylinder worth buying you will need the adaptor bracket for the gearbox as well

That's some boiler maker designed lever mechanisms right there!!! What a horrible design. Still 2 out of 3 over complicated mechanisms is pretty good going for the day :)

When I saw the title I thought you were going to commit sacrilege and make it an auto. Manuals are the world’s best anti millennial car theft prevention device. The other thing is that with those old boxes you can change gears without the clutch, you just have to know how.
