Getting a train ticket in India is hard as hell. Seven months traveling and I only managed to buy a train ticket once but I traveled more than once by train. 😬 So no judgment from me. We never tried the luggage car though but just because we didn’t come up with the idea tbh. We usually would pick any car, hop on and wait for someone to charge us. So we always paid on board. Did the camel safari too and my camel spent all rides, everyday trying to throw me down 🤣🤣... he would walk close to any tree as tall as I was to bump me down and he would refuse to fully sit down so I could climb down... so I had to jump off of it. I never saw them getting hurt... but I sure was haha. So we are even I guess.
As for people being respectful welllll I seen alot of bollocks last week and I cant help but bite hahahaha I reckon P would do the same if he could lmao
India is like continent.. u will get everything here.. desert, rock, mountain, see, Himalaya Plato, almost everything... every state have their own identity, language, food, cloth.. amazing place...
@@mr16325 oh really? Here in India most of people are vegetarian and they are pretty healthy In much more adverse condition than other nations My only point is that if you are too sad for camel being treated that way the You should stop eating meats ,going to the zoo ,etc. Or either don't keep double standards LoL
Btw, what the F is up with only 33k in subs? I follow a fair number of vloggers and you guys are at the top. Not only in content but the editing / cinematography. Many are over the 100k. Some things in this world just defy logic!🇨🇦🍺🍸🍹🕊
jodi Muse they are targeting the right market though. They increased 10k subscribers in 2 weeks already by the time they finish Indian trip they will have 60k+ subscribers.
India has trains for all classes of people. The more you're willing to spend, the better the trains get. The Maharaja Express in fact costs $7000 per person and is a hotel in itself. Glad you took a better train this time around :) cheers!

Its nice to think about ethical aspect of the Camel domestication. But camels have been domesticated for centuries in Rajasthan and are very much a part of the culture there. Can't really comment on the nose ring aspect but World's largest camel trading festival happens in Pushkar, Rajasthan where they are bought and sold for which they have to be in really great condition and so they are treated and raised up well. Ofcourse that cannot be the case for every camel owner but generally they are taken care of adequately. But I respect people's POV on this issue and honestly its refreshing to see you guys having such strong principles on this issue. Great vlog.👍🏻
"It has been happening for centuries" is not a proper justification. The question should be is it right or wrong rather than has it been practiced for how long or how many people are doing it. Practices like slavery, sati, human/animal sacrifices (to an extend) were abandoned purely based on that regard. But I honestly don't see this thing with camels in Rajasthan or elephants in Kerala coming to an end anytime soon because majority of people think like the way you presented it. And with this huge population still rising, placing reason above public attitude is far from happening. PS : Lina is my new spirit animal for some time :D
Valid point Jerry. The historical context is important to understand the phenomenon but irrelevant to validate or justify it. While there's a long way to go, I believe discussions around animal cruelty will take us in the eventual direction of eliminating it. As the world gets advanced enough and wealthy enough to be able to comfortably feed and clothe its poor, reliance on beasts of burden (to help make ends meet) will keep waning. It has already been happening for decades.
Just because it's legal does not make it ethical. Slavery was still legal before 1807. No animal should be used for human entertainment. This is what's ethical.
As usual, I loved this video. The fact that you guys even had a discussion about the ethical treatment of the camels is more than most people would do. You guys are seriously the best thing to watch 😊 Looking forward to next week!
Who is talking about camels??. Made the whole of world slave.. Still the most of the contribution in making mother earth polluted from starting of industrialization to right now. Bdw we have kind heart forgive u all.
The Budgeteers What Vaccine shots did you guys get before travelling to India? I will be there in December and am thinking about this. Would be awesome for some advice. Cheers
Jodhpur is my Hometown ❤ The Blue City 🇮🇳 Camels are Good and kind , they don't hurt us . My Grandfather had 4 Camel's 🐪 and he never hurt them they are free and happy .

This was a fantastic episode - loves the editing and how well you showed both sides of the camel situation. Blue city was absolutely beautiful, and the drone footage (wow!). You guys are amazing and cannot wait for the next episode.

Amazing! India had not been at the top of my list but this episode moved it up. So awesome! I understand the divide on the ethical treatment, when I went to Chiang Mai I decided to find an Elephant Sanctuary that did not ride the elephants since I found out there backs are not suited for it. I also wanted to see them in their natural environment. HOWEVER the next day I could not pass up the chance to be with the tigers. Your heart splits but as you said, overall, it’s a decision you make personally and with the animals overall treatment in mind.
Your guys' videos helped me travel through India and made me feel much more comfortable knowing exactly what it's like to travel there. Thank you so much!
Love this season and the part of Paddy singing Cold Desert, one of my favorite KOL songs! And the camel riding? That's a difficult one: it's not like hugging tigers and riding elephants in Thailand, but I don't know if it's exactly like riding horses nowadays.. Maybe like riding horses thousands of years ago?
Really enjoyed the show so far! Loved seasons 1 and 2 and this already looks like another great season 😊. I can only imagine how difficult making that choice would have had to be. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity, and you've travelled so far to do it. I can totally understand why the others still chose to do the tour- to be honest, I'm not sure what I'd do in that situation either. At the same time, I just wanted to say how much I respect Lina for making the choice that she did. It isn't easy to be the person who says no, especially when you're in a group and don't want to negatively affect other people's experience. What she did was not easy, especially when she knows it will be shown on a vlog and keyboard warriors might be mean to her about it, so it was really great to see. She deserves a big round of applause for standing up for what she believes in and I hope other people are inspired to do the same.
@Rebecca Barnes: Thank you. I couldn't have said it better. I found Lena holding her ground commendable and I can totally relate to her - I've had to drop out of such activities too and don't regret it for one moment, because I'd rather not have an adventure at the expense of an animal's suffering.
What a beautiful episode guys.. the series is shaping up really well.. 20 more mins and I would have to get an HBO subscription to be able to watch it 😂😂 Epic sights.. Be it Mehrangar Fort, the old walls of the blue city or the rawness of Jaisalmer.. all beautifully showcased without being overly touristic. Fantastic music selection at 9.17, 14.50 and 20.55 Train rides are really making me nostalgic, having travelled a lot in India by train and in local compartments over the last 3-4yrs.. the country does really come alive, and really brings out the journey element of one's travels, which is not possible flying or on a bus. Especially liked the sunrise from the train and absolutely loved the luggage compartment! Epic Budgeteering!! About the whole ethical animal debate, I am not really one for debates, but since you took both stances and encouraged viewers to take a respectful stance and voice their opinions, I would have to say I agree with Paddy/Thijs viewpoint for the following reasons: 1) If you deny the owners their livelihood, the people as well as the camels will die. That is the stark reality of these remote businesses in India or similar places in the world. 2) Coming from a vegetarian upbringing and having been one all my life, I am unable to comprehend how one animal as big as a cow or deer can be killed and eaten, and yet another like a camel has a checklist of rights. If all humans deserve similar rights, maybe so do all animals and fishes. I will never aim to understand how a dog or a horse is a pet and yet a pig or cow is slaughtered, causing which is now well documented as one of the largest polluting, unhygienic and unsustainable industry in the world.. which Paddy briefly mentioned. Having said that, the important thing is choice. And respecting choice, which I do. We are all different as you guys rightly pointed out, so we learn to co-exist, and thrive despite our differences. That is what makes us unique. Beautifully and sensitively presented subject though.. kudos to the Budgeteers on the overall evolution.. Next level guys! Last but not the least, special shout-out to all the helpful people you met in this episode.. especially the crew looking after you guys in the desert (including Lina who helped with the brekkie😂) Oh, and apologies for the long 'comment' (maybe I will do a video comment from next time). Onwards and upwards, all aboard the budget train!! Can't wait for the Himalayas!!
Enjoyed the channel since episode 1 of 1. The cloth hobbles are not harmful - especially how loosely they tied them. They allowed them the ability to move, unlike hobbles that are used on horses daily in the world that keep them in one spot. So, the camel hobbles are a non-issue. Additionally, complaints were made regarding the nose-peg. This is a form of control that has been used on camels, oxen and cattle for (literally) thousands of years to lead and control an animal that is hundreds, if not thousands, of pounds heavier and hundreds of times stronger. You can see to this today in Southeast Asia, small children riding and leading Water Buffalo that would normally be beyond their ability. The nose peg or ring is not a source of constant pain or discomfort. The pain or discomfort only occurs when hard, constant pressure is put on the device. Ask Lina, she wears one. Before anyone complains further about control devices like pegs or rings, consider the type of bit used on the next horse you ride. My family raised horses (up to 60 at a time) for years, I have ridden since I was a small child (I am in my 50's now); some of the most cruel devices in constant use with animals that no one ever mentions are wire snaffle, split-ring wire snaffles and spade bits! There are some worse, but less common. IF an animal is trained well and correctly, violence is not necessary (I know this from experience working with wild horses, dogs and cats). There is no need for harshness or cruelty but the occasional swat or bite may be if warranted to remind them who's in control. Finally, Before any more protestation against pegs and rings, check the mouth corners, teeth, hooves, frogs, and backs of the horses you are about to ride as well as bits used before your next outing to make sure they are in good health and well-treated.
Best of vines life is not just about logic and argument. It’s about the suffering you know you help to create which you can avoid but decide to be picky about it according to your convenience. I don’t care what you eat. It’s your choice. I’ve seen enough people like you. They’re fairly common.
It's not fair I think for everyone to keep commenting this point, he already mentioned in the video that he eats meat and acknowledges this point, but in my opinion, when we see things happening in person, we have a greater reaction to things, just because you eat meat doesn't mean you can't be offended by an animal being mistreated, eating meat there's a disconnect, but if a meat eater saw an animal being slaughtered in person the would have a greater reaction. We are humans, it's okay to feel empathetic towards a certain situation, regardless of if you eat meat or not.
The Budgeteers well...I'm sorry to inform you but this time I chose sleep over the Budgeteers.. 😂 Got a big day today so gotta be energized ;) Can't wait to watch this episode tho 😘
u feel bad for the camels where as i feel bad for the guide just imagine a person walking through the hot desert for 4 hours then he alone cut vegies and prepare lunch all by himself just to earn money and give u a mind blowing experience .. life is tough but theses desert guides are tougher ...in india v dnt do cruelty to animals or any living beings ... if v have to eat meat v kill them in one shot ..besides if it hurts u so much .. then i ll say stop buying leather items stop eating meats stop putting collars on dogs or cats ... .. anyway my english is nt good so if my comments seems rude ...please forgive me my intensions r nt ... i love ur videos :)
i am sure it is if u feel bad for animals then we sud also stop biological experiments on animals .. n we should free caged animals in zoo ....i can discuss these matter way better in my language but as u cn see i have difficulty explaining the issue in english any way have a good day :)
Come back again in 2020 In India and cover south India.... beautiful beaches of goa to beautiful greenery of kerala...ur north India series is the awesome i have ever seen...full of emotions and colors....we r waiting.....
Brilliant ...again! Animal advocate here. Tough call for sure. Lina, good girl for walking your talk🤙🏻 the camels seemed to be treated well except the leg thing got me. The footage of the gentleman making your meal was really beautiful. He looked very dapper! Where was the Paddy 'Boogie Nights' hair footage?? 🤤🤣🤣
Jodi.. you may have noticed that not all the camels had their legs tied(ex- 29:10). This is because this camel is more domesticated while the other one(whose leg was tied) was probably younger/less domesticated. Far more cruelty is done to Chicken/Lambs/Cows etc in industrial meat/poultry farming.. than by these handlers to their only source of income.
I knew about the blue city but guuuys that desert 😍 thank you so much for everything. I have a new place I wanna visit as soon as I get to India. Love you ❤
Its actually after a very long time I have actually come across this really damn awesome travel tour. What to say, really loved how all three of you put this up. Videos like these are really too inspiring as they gives you a drive like to step up and explore such a paradise and life is not only about 9 to 5 job its worth more and its precious in every way possible. Keep up the good work. India travel series is purely masterclass.
Pocket Trailblazer .... Jaisalmer and udaipur are must if u visit Rajasthan state of India !! Jaisalamer is my favourite place I have visited here twice and I want to go there again as I find something new every time I go there !! Spend at least 4-5 days in jaisalamer !! And make list from Google before going to Jaisalamer, it will definitely help u in prioritizing ur choices of places of interest in jaisalamer !!
Pocket Trailblazer ...And beware of Sex crazy Indians !! They will do stupid non relevant comments on post where ever there is Picture of a Beautiful girl !!
Beautiful! Thanks so much for this inspiring video! I appreciate that you have more in your videos than a check list of places visited and vistas photographed. I respect your discussion about animal ethics. It was thought-provoking without being preachy or ethnocentric. I am not going to sit here in Canada and tell Indians what they should do - but your discussion is a good reminder that travellers have choices to make. Now a question - did you sleep out on those platforms without tents???
I'm with Lina on this one, I'm not vegetarian but whenever I travel to countries with poor animal welfare I eat vego and I never ever ride an animal. But I respect you guys for respecting each others opinions :-)
Really loved this episode guys, you paint a beautiful picture of India. Not a country high up on our to do list but you may just be swaying us! Good luck silencing Lina 😂😂😂😂 We had a similar experience in Colombia with some mistreated horses, we felt super guilty riding them afterwards so fully respect Linas decision to miss that part of the trip! Looking forward to episode 5 😍
Awesome video ..it really felt like I was physically there. Stunning views and yeah the way you enjoyed your trip is amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed your video😊❤
Thijs is so ridiculously tall lol. When him and Paddy were dancing on the train, i could have sworn paddy was an 8 year old boy in contrast to Thijs height lol
Another great episode, guys! Loved that you hitched the train, nice work!!! Didn't look to bad either compared the the train in a previous episode. It's great that Lina stuck to her guns and didn't support the bad treatment of the camels. We suppose you could compare it to riding elephants in Thailand... Looking forward to the next episode, might end up watching that one from our tent up in the mountains of Georgia 😀😀 Thanks for sharing as always!
Yes u r right. Myself belong to village and lives in Delhi. And in village we do have nose rings to he buffalo's just to control them because they are powerful and sometimes out of control. So it doesn't mean that we mistreat them & even love them as our family. So people please don't make illusions let's come to a village & check out.
UNROOT ME bc there are alot of savage people there waiting for you to make a mistake. Just recently there have been 6-8 cases of rape registered. I don't know whether u r a he/she, but still not safe.
Without a doubt you guys are just beyond perfection...... You guys are the best travel vloggers I ever came across...and trust me guys I do watch a lot of travel videos...and you are the best so far....... Keep up the good work guys... And Thanx a ton for showing the Incredible INDIA in an incredible manner.....😀
@@TheBudgeteers Vegans aren't worried only about meat consumption, they don't support any animal exploitation or using animals for people's purposes (fun/food/beauty..). People almost always use animals because they want to get money, which is true here as well, it's nothing that would be necessary, they restrict their freedom so riding a camel is neirther neither ethical nor vegan.
I am so glad i found your channel guys. Absolutely amazing videos. Love from pakistan to both, you guys for amazing video and india for beautiful culture. I am from sindh so i can really relate to rajastani culture as half of thar desert is here in sindh too.
1000 likes for such a calm, peaceful, not hurried vlog narration. I really really liked the style, music to go along, explanation of the situation the debate you guys had was very sensitively explaied.
I know I'm late to the party because I just now started binge watching the whole season but maximum respect and lots of love to Lina for her decision to not go on the camel ride!!! And thanks to Paddy for pointing out the reality about the way most of us treat animals in our daily life at 29:25 - but one wrong thing doesn't justify another wrong thing. Also thanks to all of you Budgeteers for showing everything the way you went about (not) doing the whole camel ride thing instead of just editing it in a way that would have made us believe that you either did the ride together or that you didn't do it all. And about the argument that "unless you are 100% vegan you can not criticize the way animals are treated outside of the food industry" ...the world is not all black and white. Any conscious or unconscious decision to eat a meal that does not involve the death of another sentient being helps and any time someone decides not to take part in any kind of exploitation of animals helps as well ... live and let live! LOVE, PEACE AND VEGGIE GREASE ! ! !
Sameer Abbas only officially, but where there is a will there is a way. And well, if you know people. Gujarat consumes more alcohol than many other states in India..
Dry State means that there is no ALCOHOL in any form. Be it BEER or WINE. And I should warn you that the alcohol that you get there illegally is NOT SAFE for drinking. Many cases of alcohol poisoning came to light in the recent past. And you won't even have a case against anyone as you are getting it ILLEGALLY. BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY! :) Have a great trip ahead. Good Luck :)
@ashish gusani....The alcohol that you get there illegally is NOT SAFE for drinking. Many cases of alcohol poisoning came to light in the recent past. And you won't even have a case against anyone as you are getting it ILLEGALLY. THIS "WILL" CAN TAKE YOU TO A "WAY" THAT YOU WOULD NOT WANT TO GO. :)
I found you channel randomly when i was scrolling down to RU-vid...at sometime around 10 pm at night and you guys made me stay awake till now 3:30 am...now I have watched till 8th episode...I want to continue but now I'm exhausted..your content is just awesome! Hope you will get that proper recognition according to your content and cinematography...keep making vlogs.. best of luck for future!
I don't understand this animal thing, You ride horses, you eat meat, kill al sort of animals for your food, but feel sad about seeing camels and elephant rides? Isn't that hypocrisy? Selectively caring for some animals while killing all others for your food.
In the Video? But that's not limited up to you, there are many, many westerners I've seen in their Indian travel videos who eat meat and complain about elephants rides. How is it any different than riding a horse? They wanna ban this elephant riding thing, and it will come to camels as well. While at the same time, having no problem with horses being ridden. and the reason they give is the elephant is a wild animal. So what? Indians have been riding and using elephants and camels much like Horses for thousands of years, in warfare, in procession and all sort of other things, they aren't gonna just give it up because Westerns don't like it. This hypocrisy is similar to complaining and hating Chinese for eating dogs, just cause in the west dogs are your pets. While totally okay with eating other animals, who they don't make their pets. I'm talking in general here, not pointing to any particular individual. And don't get offenede now. Great Video.
i eat meat i just dont believe in the mistreatment of animals for entertainment purposes. i dont judge other that do i just wouldnt ever ride an animal for fun at their expensive. each to their own though
type this on you tube --> WHY Vegetarian WARNING GRAPHIC TRUTH Factory Farm MEAT Fish (MFA no PETA) HSUS ASPCA Animal Cruelty ..............i dare you double dare you triple dare you to watch this video on what they do to the animals you eat ....can you accept this challenge and watch it.... if u really really really care abut animal torture then u wont ever eat meat again after watching it , and if u continue to eat meat , then you talking about mistreatment of animals is just a pathetic excuse and you are a stupid ignorant person ...sorry
This was a strange episode, but it might be my favorite. It wasn't action packed or have any crazy drone shots, but it was very real. I think Lina was right to stick to what she believed, even thought it was probably a pain in the ass for her to leave the group for the day. Anyway, how did you get onto the back of the train for a free ride? They don't check that area?
I appreciate u guys for atleast having thoughts about these animals.... Very rare to see people like that nowadays....and Leena, I love you for your heart 💘😍🤗
The lady who herself has got a nose ring believes it is unethical for camels to have nose rings??? Eating non-vegetarian food is fine but loosely tying an animals legs is cruelty? What kind of hypocrisy is this??
I think Lina was more concerned about the mistreatment of camels rather than vegan aspect. She has a choice to put a nose ring...the camels don't. #paddy
The Budgeteers+ But brother please ask her 'why beheading of animlas and eating them is not considered as cruelty?' Those cows and bulls are skinned and beheaded before they serve you beef .Isn't it cruelty? I am sorry but Lisa was being Hypocrite here 😂
@@TheBudgeteers So put your hypocrisy up to yourself ...No need to lecture India about its animal , we have rich flaura and fauna and we know hoe to take care of them.
Im not saying they shouldn't put the rings through their noses or anything. It looks really really painful and its proper thick metal and what lina is wearing is thing probably hurt for like a bit but that thick metal is not nice...and it goes through the camels nose could be hard to breath.
Amazing vlog. Have been following a few others and I find yours best.. the enthusiasm, the depth and portrayal, the funny personal times, the morality and at last the places and little of history...guys you've things that most other vloggers don't have.. you have gained one more follower! And I would suggest you to make another video on 8states...the North east.
Guys! Love the episode, this perhaps is one of the best episodes yet. Beautiful scenery and more than just a travel vlog! Lina, if you are back I would love to meet you in rec room and chat a bit :D Groeten vanuit Nederland! Keep it up guys! Living the life!
I love your videos and - as you can see by my profile pic, I did do the camel tour back in 2013. Not sure I would have done it again today though. But.. one really crazy thing: that lady selling vegetables in Jodhpur - I have the same exact picture of her from 2013. Same clothes, same posture. I actually thought I was seeing things for a second there. We (as in privileged people) are so used to always changing clothes, careers, places.. A woman sitting at the same exact spot, in the same exact clothes 5 years later just shocked me, in a way. Keep up your good work, excited for all the episodes!
Just saw your travel video in my RU-vid recommendation. And it awesome, the best moment I like it when you were traveling in luggage compartment in train and the rays of sun partially falling in between. That's reminded my summer holidays. We want more videos guys. Best of luck 😃
Wow I'm amazed, I was searching for some random things on RU-vid and then I got your video it is like a treat for me watching your video. You guys nailed it. You done better than any traveling TV show.
India is full of diversity guys if you travel 300 km anywhere in India you can find different language, food, culture and tradition and India is a country who have all natural heir like rivers, oceans, mountains, deserts, forest, plain, lakes, etc
