In this video I am checking out the brand new Carl Martin pedal, the Ottawa. This, as the name might hint at, is an auto wah pedal. It's a very fun, touch sensitive auto wah. Auto wah is an effect that has been around for quite a while and is very much known in the funk and disco circuits, but is this a dated sound in 2021?
The Ottawa does everything from throaty 60s wah tones to crisp, cutting 70s disco wah stabs and everything in between. The adjustable touch sensitivity allows you to dial this into your own playing style and the Q control allows you to sculpt just how you want the wah to react.
The versatility comes from the 3 selectable tone presets on the mini toggle switch. You can choose between low pass, band pass and high pass filters to find that perfect auto wah tone for your rig.
In the video I am using a Vola OZ ROA which is plugged straight into my Line 6 Helix, running straight into my DAW.
