Prayers for Gizmo! I had a dog that developed back issues just like that, I thought he was going to have to crossover the rainbow bridge. But meds & bed rest cure him about 95%, he just had a little different wiggle after that. He lived 8 more years to the ripe old age of 17….and yes, his name was Gizmo!
I love watching, I think Linda needs a show of her own though. Hey Linda you could share recipes, golf pointers, fashion likes, women’s get together in the villages, etc. I think you’d be great and have a voice of your own. ❤️
We have a dachshund and bought Alpha Paw Dog Ramp and he loves it. Adjustable and all 3 of our dogs use it - 18 pounds, 39 pounds & 65 pounds! It’s excellent and on sale now. Prayers for Gizmo. Our first dachshund (way back in the 1970s) had disc surgery - one of the first in the country - and it was miraculous. Prayers for Gizmo!
I’m from WV and know Beckley well. WV is a beautiful state and great people but we love it here too. Cycles are one of the great things about the Villages. It’s great seeing seniors so active and have wonderful weather to do those activities. This place is life changing. You learn to adapt ❤
I had a Doxie that developed back problems. Like Gizmo, she would jump off the couch and bed. But at 6 years old she couldn't walk, so I took her to a vet specialists and he did back surgery on her. It worked (it wasn't cheap) but for the rest of her life she was able to walk. She's been gone for a couple of years, I still miss her.
Thank you for another great video, Jerry and Linda...I'm also so glad that little Gizmo is feeling better.I know he's your baby, and we've all gotten so attached to him too. Have an awesome week, and Happy Halloween! 🧡
Hope Gizmo feels 100% soon. We are on are fourth dachshund and when they felt bad it is very stressful. The one we have now knows not to jump on and off furniture or go down steps. He is really spoiled. Great show you three.
Just to let you know, there are Animal Chiropractors that really help the pooches!! See if there is one near one that will take Gizmo! Even after one treatment, they do so much better! Liverwurst on Black Bread with onions and mustard is a Lithuanian staple! Ha! Grew up on that and LOVE IT!!! We would go across the Williamsburg Bridge and go to KATZ for Pastrami on Rye! Ha!
Hi Jerry and Linda, and Gizmo! We are here in the Villages doing our Lifestyle visit for the 1st time. We are having a blast! We are staying in that Paddock section. Love, this area! The bands we have heard so far, is so great! Dancing the night away. So much fun! We just got back from Spanish Spring, and went to that legging place that Linda went to. I got 30% off because I just asked the lady if they know you. Lol. I picked up some cute outfits! Tonight, dinner in Sumpter Landing, and more dancing. Will be our 1st time in this area. I can’t hear your whole show today, as I have to go, on to the next activity. Husband calling me. But, will when I get a chance I hope Gizmo feels better. The Villages - A Place Like No Other. Golf carts are fun driving them around.
We are having similar issues with our Doxie, he is 11. About once a year he has a few days of soreness and then he gets better. They recommend that doxies do not jump on furniture or use the stairs. Nobody told our dog Jim that. He jumps on the couch, then climbs on me to get on the back of the couch. We have an ottoman next to our bed, that he uses to go to bed. They definitely become part of the family, I hope Gizmo fully recovers.
Good Morning Linda and Jerry! I love everything about your show. I try to watch other villagers shows but your show is just the best! Maybe Gizmo can use a small pillow to rest his head while you are doing the show :)
Having spent October in The Villages, getting back to Annapolis feels good. We get to see the Blue Angles often, a great city and you all should be proud to have 2 sons go the to the academy. We loved The Villages and hope to be house hunting in The Villages next year.
I had 3 dachshunds who lost back leg mobility. They eventually got better. The 3rd 1 my vet used light and ultrasonic, I think???, He did this twice a week for around 3 weeks, it with combination of anti inflammatory. He walked again. Back legs weren't as strong, he did collapse occasionally, but did get better! I noticed Gizmo only turned his head towards Jerry. I will keep Gizmo in my prayers! Love dachshunds! I have 2.
A friend of mine grows pineapples in her front yard in Winter Haven. So sweet and juicy! She also has Meyer lemon trees. She does fertilize all of them which helps their yield.
My Mom and Dad had a grapefruit tree in their backyard, I loved them when I went down to visit. At breakfast I would walk out in the backyard and pick one and have it for my breakfast!!! So sweet and yummy!!
We have a chihuahua that’s 9 yrs old. He jumped off the couch in April a tore something in his leg. Then in august he got a pacemaker. He has an arrhythmia. But he also has the disc issues in his neck. He gets carried a lot. Our next dog, we are getting pet insurance. Hang in there! I have more jokes for Gizmo!
Poor Gizmo, hope he is feeling better soon! We had a little dog who was also a jumper and developed back issues as she aged. Hard to try to keep them from not jumping on things! We’d try! She did end up in a wheelchair but till her last breathe she was a happy little dog eager to greet and play. Miss her so. 🙏for Gizmo
I’m with you Linda, love Liverwurst sandwiches. I use Miracle Whip instead of Mayo. I’m with Allie & Pepper regarding holiday decor and clothing. I decorate my house inside and out and wear clothing and jewelry to match. I also decorate my golf cart. Loved Gizmo’s jokes. Hope he recovers fully. ❤️👹🤡🎃😈👻
Poor Gizmo. It really is hard when you don't know what happened and they are just standing and can't move. I hope the meds help him make a full recovery.
Another great video! Our United Health care of Thee villages pays for our health club membership at the big fitness center in Brownwood. Our premiums are zero. Jerry, last video you said there were deer here. I have never seen a deer here, have you? I have only seen 2 alligators in 10 years. You and Linda must be alligator magnets! Thanks again. We live in TV, but we certainly enjoy and learn something every time we watch.
We have only seen one deer ... we've been here 4 years. As for alligators, we have seen hundreds. We see them just about everyday. When the weather gets lower (temperatures in the fifties and below), they will hunker down in the deep water. We won't see as many at that time.
Love all of Vinny’s spooky Halloween decor! So Fun! 👻 🎃 Hope Gizmo is back at full speed quickly. Thanks for another great mailbag Monday. Have a great week. Best! ❤
I bought a new house in California and had fun watch each week it’s development from the foundation up. When had a 6’ brick wall in the back. We were getting excited because they had the roof up, it was I first house. All of a sudden we felt this rumbling thinking are we having a earth Quake and all of a sudden this passer train shot by are house I looked over the wall and there were railroad tracks. We got used to right away live there for 5 years.
Hamish and I send well wishes to Gizmo! I had a landscaper who did the same thing while weeding however it hit my house siding in the backyard on the chimney side in Ohio. The landscaper denied he did it as I was at work but my neighbor heard it and came out to see what had happened - the cost $875.00 as they had to replace all the siding to match the color, which they paid to fix it! We love the show! ❤🎃
I love your continued sympathy for the new homeowner who moves to what he claims to be the new nuisance; such as, road noise of US Route 301 or the Florida Turnpike, established long before there was ever a thought of the new homes. Both were esablished at spectacular engineering and building costs for their day in comparison to the homeowner cost for a greater benefit to all. Put you on the couch, and I think it goes to the issue of the subjective character of the claim. Hearing is subjective and “builds” with time, and moreover it defies the logic of buying sight unseen; hearing unheard. But the legal norm is that you can not move to the nuisance. The best advice is “do your due diligence” before the purchase. But nobody can fault you for your caring ministry of providing information and insight.
Sometimes people get so excited and enthusiastic that they leap before they look. It is such a big, life changing leap that we are sad when we hear of someone that regrets their move.
Re: your dog. Try a wide piece of plywood with a towel over it. I have one going up to the bed, to the couch and to get downstairs outside. Ramp goes between the couch cushions and the mattress. Put something at the bottom to lift it a little if the incline is too steep. A miracle for my 15 year old dog with back issues and my dads dog with 3 legs can get up and down the couch.
Jerry Jerry Jerry, I love rye bread. And, licorice, especially black licorice, my favorite. You have given me the next billion dollar idea. Do you know how some people eat bread with raisins in it? Disgusting! I am going to make a rye bread with chunks of black licorice in it. I’ll be sure to bring you a loaf. Gizmo, be well. Thank you for hanging in there and bringing us more funny jokes. The one about the ghost, my favorite.
Linda, you are right about liverwurst! Jerry, you are right that it sounds gross. It really is delicious though. I’d love to see you (on video) try it on a fresh baguette. I think you might like it! 😝 Speedy recovery for Gizmo. I thought something was off right away the way he had his head on Dad. Sounds like you’re doing all the right things!
I would worry about solar panels on a roof in Florida especially in The Villages where you have to replace your roof every so many years. Seems like that would require a lot of work removing the solar and putting it back up.
That happened to my little Freida many years ago. We just did not have the money to fix her paralysis so we had her put down. I was devastated and grieved for months. She was ten years old.
Liverwurst on a kaiser roll, with sliced onion, american cheese, and mustard / mayo.... yummy. I was introduced to it in college, by a roomate's family. They bought it because it was so inexpensive. Lol
Another great show. I like when you do the shout outs before the questions. I’m sure everyone has their preference. See you when we get there! Real soon for this snowflake.
Poor Gizmo. Hope he gets back to normal soon! My little maltipoo has spinal disc bulge in lower spine and has occasional flare ups. She takes codeine, prednisone and diazepam during those flare ups. She gets monthly massages and will n iui w be getting accupuncture and laser therapy to help with discomfort. Sounds like you are doing everything for your little boy.
omg I almost spilled my drink when Linda said oh no bendy fries. and I agree every place around still uses covid as an excuse for bad service. bendy Jerry not flexy fries 😅😂 😅😂😅😂🍟🍟🍔🍔 oh so cute give Jerry his box with handle. I havent been to a McDonald's in years. no box, no floppy fries. 😅
Hopefully Gizmo is Much Better by now🐾💕🐾Scary! Our Daughter & Son-in-law used to use our fenced in yard for the Mini's Shorty & Cocoa when they had to go away. Came home after work to find my Precious Short Man (their sweet black n tan who I ADORED) was locked jawed and with terror in his sweet eyes looking at me for help. OMG I scooped him up so fast. Turns out he ate a moldy walnut in the yard a squirrel brought in😭Very poisonous to our doggies. Thank goodness for good veterinarians! Overnight stay, very medicated, but alive...I cried so hard, we Love these Doxies so very much! 🐾💕 Happy Halloween 🎃To you 3🎃
Get Gizmo a ramp. They seem to work better than stairs for dachshunds. Jerry, I have to agree with you about liverwurst. Key part of that word is liver. It tastes like liver and is awful. I don’t like liver. My mom loved liverwurst with a slice of raw onion so I kept it for her and would make her liverwurst sandwiches.
Thank you for the video! You mentioned in a previous video that you planned to comment on the new "documentary". Do you still plan to make that video? We watched it too. It seemed the producer had an agenda.
Thanks for your information about the entertainment in the villages. I’m still looking for activities for my grandchild who is four years old and is coming down in December. I have a house reserved for the month of December. See you when I get there Ron
I rode with groups in California years ago. We found it safer to take up a lane by bunching up rather than straggle for a mile. The idea is as a bunch you can be passed like a slow car rather than getting squeezed by passing cars. In your video you showed bikes on a 2 lane road. If both lanes have cars that are beside each other in heavy traffic, that's when people get nervous and make mistakes. If there is no designated bike lane it's safer to bunch up. If there is a bike lane you are expected to ride in it rather than using the car lanes. As for having a leader, we usually decide in advance where the ride will go and what roads we will use so as to eliminate confusion. Any new riders usually hang in the back of the pack and just follow the leaders making it less confusing for them. We rode in some pretty heavy traffic at times and never had any issues.
Hope Gizmo is getting better. You always feel.helpless when something happens to your pets because they can't tell us what's wrong. We have a Katz's deli here in Woodbridge Ct. No relationship to the original, but still very good.
I had 2 doxies,From the time I got them ,I would not let them jump at all ,but you can’t stop all their jumping. Both got down in their backs at times.Sorry they both are gone.Sorry about Gizmo.
