In todays episode I look at a photo book and think about who REALLY photographed the bikeriders...
Any regular viewers of the show will know how much I love film still photography, and there's a load of films out or about to be released to do with photojournalism as well! So in this episode I take a look at some of the film stills photography from The Bikeriders and also look at the 1968 photo book by Danny Lyon that inspired the film.
NOW. To be clear I still think the film set photographs from The Bikeriders film are beautiful, but I've dedicated my life to photojournalism & documentary photography and seeing as I have to buy all these books I review on my channel it was an easy choice between buying Danny Lyon's book or the book of stills photography from the film.
N.B. Throughout the video I say 'Danny Lyon's book', which somehow has me then saying Danny Lyons instead of Danny Lyon now and again! ha! So I am aware of it, but please write about that repeatedly in the comments section.

For those in the UK you don't know how difficult it was to NOT mention the fact the book was dedicated to Hugh Edwards... if you know you know 😬

Nice review. The book is better than the film!!! ✌ However I was pleased to see that a lot of Dannys interviews are used, and the story is really told from the point of view of Jodie Cromers character. Worth watching once!

@@philcrean AHH ok. Well that's a shame, it would have made sense for it to be from Danny's point of view right? I haven't seen the film as I've been...well... in a cellar! 😜

As someone who use to photograph bikers (years ago at an annual fundraiser), the movie characters are simply too good looking. There’s a grittiness in the Danny Lyon book that really captures the biker spirit.
