She was inspired by the very popular alt-fashion designer "Built by Wendy". It wasn't just some kind of Mattel imagination, it was a genuine reflection of cool adults
I completely forgot about these dolls! I had the green one and liked her a lot, though my favorite part of this doll set was the hole-puncher by far. I punched out so many little flower shaped pieces of paper oh my goddddd
i was a baby in the 2000s but does anyone remember the 2010s camera doll?? barbie LITERALLY had a digital camera with a display and u could literally take pictures and they would show up as part of her outfit
I had both variations of the doll and I loved them ❤️🥰 it was one of my favourites. I still have the doll and/or the clothes somewhere, passed onto my younger cousins
Yep! It's funny to me now that I never had (and I don't actually remember wanting) that doll but now i collect ita bags and have an ita overal dress. For those that are unfamiliar with ita bags and other items; They have "window" pockets for displaying pictures, buttons, pins, plushies. Barbie was ahead of the trend I guess.
I'm very glad you're making these. I grew up with a younger sister a couple years younger than me so I remember a lot of this stuff being wildly fun and interesting but yaknow, I was a boy in the 90s so I just have vague memories.
I still have mine from childhood! I played with her so much I'm honestly surprised her outfit is still in good condition, and i still have all her little pieces too, like the extra cardboard pictures she came with to help fill in the pockets, and her cardboard portfolio, not sure how I didn't lose those little pieces to our cats😂 I only ever got the pink one (barbie) but man did I want the whole set soooooooo bad!😂 I absolutely loved her and wanted them all so they could all wear papers punched out in each other's shapes, and i especially wanted the green one (kira) as I loved her and always wanted a Kira doll, no matter what line she was from, but for whatever reason she just didn't seem to show up in our area as I never got her as a kid, even though I put one on my wishlist for every birthday and Christmas for many years, until they did away with kira's character and brought Raquelle in. Although I'm now proud to say that as an adult I've managed to acquire 2 actual kira dolls and I'm absolutely thrilled 😁
I vaguely remember getting in trouble for hole punching little hearts and stars out of my mom’s magazines. It was a fun time. I had the orange one and one of her clear pockets had a loose stitch.
You just answered a question I've had since childhood!! Most of my toys were second hand, and I had the skirt for this and could never figure out why or what it was lol. Thanks!!
This is a little before my time, but this is so on-brand for every y2k thing I do remember that if I really wanted to, I could give myself false memories of playing with one 😭
Most of our Barbies were second hand, I had the clothes and the paper puncher and but I didn't know they went together or what they were even from but now I know!
Oh gosh. Flash backingso hard right now.... I... I still have those punches. I forgot where they came from. My daughter plays with them now for her crafting. 🤯
OMG I TOTALLY HAD THAT AND HAD NO CLUE THAT’S WHAT IT WAS FOR!!!! I always just used the heart punch for normal paper and thought the pockets on the shirt/skirt were weird… it was a hand-me-down from one of my sisters!
