I feel at most Dale will buy into a team like Kaulig or JTG Daugherty as a minority owner. Not full blown like Richard or Rick.

@johnhopkins6565 noway, JR name will be on a team in Cup one day. But it's not going to be with a established team as a co-owner. He already said he wasn't going to answer to anyone.

It has always came down to money you didn't just show up and race. You had to have the money to race. Built cars and so on.

By the way, diversity is fine, but for the last 20 years NASCAR has acted like White men in the South are the enemy. We were their fanbase.

@@AmericanJohnnyBoone I agree the Charters and lack of hp. Every driver should earn his way into a race and they still could provide championship pervisionals. There are some good young drivers out there and NASCAR needs some hero's to carry the torch. Go back to the old tracks and let these guy's work there tails off to make the field.

@@AmericanJohnnyBoone Couldn't agree with you more about Rockingham, it's as unique as North Wilkesboro., but Nashville Fairgrounds feels like it's being strangled by the city. I have no idea where you'd park for a Cup race. Diversity IS fine, because we have a diverse society, but you're imagining something that is not true when you say "white" southern men are the enemy.

Not really. A team is closing it's doors, so they don't hold any leverage and they are motivated to sell. That means lower prices in most cases.

They are worth what some one is willing to pay for them

@@gwoodru Yeah, I think this is accurate. Everyone I knew that watched the sport 20 years ago no longer watches. Nascar abandoned them in pursuit of fans in big cities that make more money. Very little about the sport hasn't changed. Despite that, it's still going, and everyone involved is making a hell of a lot more money. I don't see that part of it changing. They will find a way.

Tony is "getting out" because the real $$$$ behind the team, Gene Haas, wants to play F1 loser. Tony did NOT start a team from scratch. He was invited in to Haas' already established team, same a BK with Roush & JJ with Petty, to try to make a losing team successful. Jeff Gordon was brought in as a partner to RHR because he helped make the team successful & Rick Hendrick wants the team to continue after he can no longer run it. Tony is ready to have a family, loves drag racing & lives in Havasu, AZ. He's pretty much selling everything except his racetracks & his WOO team so he can enjoy family life with a big nest egg & a lot fewer headaches to manage!

It depends on how profitable a Nascar team can be. If it was highly profitable, Stewart and Haas would have kept going. Or sold their teams with franchises. My guess is that they were marginally profitable, or even slightly running at a loss. Haas is a highly successful businessman, so it’s surprising to see him sell out, unless he was just tired of it all. My guess is $10M, assuming Honda doesn’t get in.

Kenny charters already sold three different teams have announced they were purchasing one the fourth one is up for grabs

@jlethal1983 . . the field was reduced from the very long-term 43 cars, down to 40 strictly due to they couldn't get 43 competitive cars. Costs of building cars had gone thru the roof, while primary sponsors were dying off like the dinosaurs. With a stroke of the pen, NASCAR can increase it on a whim, . . if the competitive teams are out there.

The Charter pretty much guarantees that there will be at least 36 cars at every race. You're correct. It has zero affect on the maximum car count. The economy is the main problem presently, & the fact that the soy boy kids are into video games in mommy's basement rather than cars now.

I much would rather spend my time and money outside the woke - formerly Marxism dei esg mob. When I witnessed 30k fans at Tulsa earlier this year, on a Thursday night, vindicated my decision.

Anyone can enter a NASCAR race & they have to qualify in, just like the local short tracks. The Charters give the team owner something of value to sell if they want out, other than a building & a bunch of used equipment. 10% of the field is open & the cost to "assemble" a race car is far lower than trying to build 1 from scratch. Andy Petree stated that before the standardized car being run now, an A-arm cost #3500, when the engineering, R&D, construction costs & all factors were combined. That's $14,000 for 4 frontend pieces & ya still need spindle uprights, steering arms, hub/bearing assemblies, brakes, etc, probably totalling $25,000-$30,000 for the front end alone, & then there's hanging & massagint the body, which took 2 weeks for a crew of 10. 2 or 3 guys can now hang a body in 2 days & there is NO cheating.

They don't have to sell anything. Gene Haas could run the entire operation for less than he's throwing away on 2 losing F1 teams. There are already 3 buyers so only 1 charter left to sell.

Honda has been rumoured but has stated they don't want to build a race only engine built to NASCAR's blueprint, which all 3 competing manufacturers now comply with. Strange, since they're building Indy car grenades, as proven during the month of May at Indy.

He might not be right. I think in my opinion. It's a fire sale. Everything must go. I think there's a lot of scared staff and drivers, wondering if they will have jobs next year .. I think Stuart Haas employees will be integrated with other teams so there not left in the cold . I pray to the Nascar gods other teams help these families out.

Kenny is wrong. Gene Haas is probably the wealthiest of the 4 or so billionaire team owners, Gene Haas, Roger Penske, Rick Hendrick & MJ. He throw more $$$$ away every year running a pair of losing F1 teams than his entire NASCAR operation costs.

Rusty owns several car dealerships & a successful speedway out in the middle of nowhere Iowa that fills the stands every race & it gets a cup race this year. He would have partnered up with Penske IF he wanted to be a team owner.

Dale Jr won't drive a Honda

Honda already went on record, No to NASCAR! They will not build a spec V8, for NASCAR, not interested.

Honda has already said they won't build a NASCAR blueprint spec engine!

Kelly runs EVERYTHING for Jr & she's way too smart to add the expenses of a cup team when they're making decent $$$$ right now. Better to be a big fish in a little pond than a little fish in a big lake!!

The only Wallace with any real $$$$ is Rusty & he's happy being the owner of several car dealerships & a successful race track that gets a cup race this summer! Kenny had to partner up with Stewrt & Schrader to buy the Macon Cty Illinois track that the 3 own together. Mike doesn't own any racing type businesses that I'm aware of.

10% of the field is open & teams don't show up. "It's the economy, stupid!" Businesses(SPONSORS) are folding everyday! People can't make their payments & support their families. Extra curricular activities are the first to be eliminated. Vote for another dumb-0-crap! Happens to the economy every time they control the country!

Not much sense in 43 cars when they only get 36 because the charter ownership requires it! Johnny Morris isn't going to buy into a team ownership when he can pay the sponsorship to several teams of different manufacturers & not have any headaches of management. He probably already donates more $$$$ than he would IF he owned a team.
