"Risk is in the investor not the investment." 💚 Classic!

What Dave doesn't say about the millionaire study is that the majority of the 401K millionaires would have MORE wealth had they been investing in low-cost index funds instead of the high-cost mutual funds they were invested in. Their high-cost, under-performing mutual funds cost them substantial wealth vs. owning index funds despite helping them to become millionaires.

hahah I watched that call live. I'll give Dave this, I used the debt snowball to get out of $41,300 of debt. Now I'm all in on crypto and dividend stocks. Definitely not following the rest of the steps.

Love the commentary. However, I did hear from Ramsey alot about advisors. My take away from him is most folks need advisors b/c they don't know or take the time to know what both of you are saying. Ramsey is great for those who just want to do well enough . You Garret, as well as others are Great for the rest who wants to perform better. Therefore, thk you ! We'll continue to share our knowledge, & your videos to those we know.

S Dutch if you have read any of Garret’s books 📚 he as well as Robert K. speaks highly of advisors and various professionals that’s how the wealthy stay wealthy. The problem that you are eluding to is that people don’t seek to understand the information that’s given to them. I can certainly do my own taxes but my tax professional is well versed in the laws that change every year that I am not ,so I pay them fully understanding the importance of taking certain things to a professional.

@@thomascrossjr569 completely agree. That was what I was referring to Ramsey folks strictly in few cases I know of. They were only interested in getting rid of debt other case they wanted rid of debt, w/a better portfolio but not willing to do the work. We're can only try to get them interested but if they're not.

I think a mutual fund or an index fund can be just fine. Index is an easier quicker pick, and a mutual fund youll have to dig more to vet. Regardless tho these should just be ONE piece of your investment portfolio. And the point on Buffett not using index funds is kinda fair ... Hes literally using an actively managed fund to outperform the market. Obviously the scale and leverage is entirely different but it clearly proves there is merit there that does apply to the retail investor level

I'm simply not a fan personally of the stock market and prefer businesses, intellectual property, and some very selective real estate. Not everyone is willing to be that active. If I did do funds, my preference would be an index fund. Likely to outperform long term with lower expense.

@@GarrettGundersonTV fair enough! At the end of the day a diverse portfolio and/or set of businesses is what really leads to financial freedom. As long as people are active in generating wealth for themselves and making it work for them afterwards, that's a win

It actually is easy to study mutual funds and pick out the best ones. The fact is, Dave Ramsey helps more people that are under water than Warren Buffett. Warren Buffett has helped more people that have money, earn more money. HUGE DIFFERENCE. The caller is just trying to take a shot at Ramsey because he obviously doesn't like him.

It’s funny how Gareth is more like Dave himself. He forgets that not everyone is an entrepreneur. Some people are comfortable as employees and without them you wouldn’t have your trash picked up or seeer working. I’d love to see a Dave review of Gareth PS- I do t follow either

Yeah, like this guy called Dave to “make a friend.” Lol. He called Dave out on his BS, that’s what he did. Lol. Dave is all about the getting people out of debt phase. That phase is super important and no one can get ahead without it. So, Dave has dominated a niche. But, past that, Dave is just a narcissist and Is absolutely not transparent about who and how he invests with. Stopped watching him about 30 years ago after seeing him speak at a church. Once I got a handle on the concept, I didn’t need to pay for courses, or “universities”, or books. Just do it. You don’t need to be lead by the hand.
