Top tier content as usual! Loved the presentation and demonstration of all the different ways to hold work. As for a premium vise someday, just buy the biggest baddest vise screw you can find and any crisscross mechanism!

My Workbench has no vices. I use the same hold fasts wooden screws and croches. I have a nice custom made wooden vise screw though. I may someday attach it to my workbench

I'm currently rebuilding my work bench for the 4th time as my needs have changed a lot over time. I honestly was unaware of the vertical side holing options for the holdfast and will make some quick adjustments today during the build to include the needed holes so I can try some of the things demonstrated. Thanks for introducing me to the concepts, also great music montage!

@ Very useful. Just added a fixed mid leg and drilled holes in the relatively short skirt along with the two legs on a couple of sides. It's all softwood so I doubled the thickness to 3" on most areas to avoid failure.

Fabulous! This is the bench I’m about to make. But if I may ask 2 question: what do you think of the Crucible holdfasts that are an inch thick? Also, what about a tool well?

I have not personally tried the CT holdfasts, though I'm sure they're a quality product. I don't know what the availability or cost of other 1" bench accessories looks like. I know some people love tool wells but to me, it feels like wasted space on a bench top.

The right vise is, yes. But the point is that it shouldn't be a barrier to woodworking. Holdfasts are cheaper, more versatile and stay useful after the vise is installed.
