Similar to the last one I posted, most of this show is already posted on youtube (albeit in multiple parts) but I got a request for the last 60 or so secs of the episode so again I figured I’d just post the whole thing in one video
@@josephscafetta6544 In the 1951 Giancarlo Meotti opera "Amal and the Night Visitors," who are the night visitors? A. Magi (right answer) B. Witches C. Ghosts (Peter's answer) D. Soldiers
Thank God he didn’t go for that question. $468000 would’ve been an absolutely devastating loss (I think it only ever happened once and it was on the more recent version when Regis returned for the anniversary version or something, the guy was so cocky too). RIP Regis, you are very missed. Definitely my favourite host this show ever had. His charisma always brought the entertainment just as much as the game itself.
@@Mr.NoName1972 That was Ken Basin in the 10th anniversary special edition in 2009, pretty sure he was the last contestant of the anniversary special. Sad that we didn't get to see it finish with a top prize winner (it was also the very last episode Regis ever hosted). It reminds me of when Norm Macdonald (RIP) was the last contestant of the celebrity edition in 2000 and he had the right answer but ended up taking the $500k so the celeb edition didn't get to finish with the first ever celebrity million dollar winner.
Also I'm now realizing how lucky Gary is that the $2000 question asked for the character after http, and not after the colon, because he said it was a backslash when it is in fact a forward slash. He would have gotten that one wrong (unless it was different back in 2001, I was too young to remember for sure). How different everything may have turned out because of that.
Man I get UNREASONABLY frustrated whenever the phone-a-friend doesn't manage to give an answer in time. I'd honestly be so angry at whoever that was if it were me up there. Like it's one thing to say "I don't have a clue", that's like "Okay, well, neither so that's fair" but just getting BEEP BEEP BEEP while waiting for an answer just be so frustrating.
What an escape to 500,000winner,just a coolest guy like his voice, wish his boss had had an idea... The guy who lost at ask d audience truly had a tough question, such technical terms shouldn't be asked ..
One of the people who invented the V Chip said it was intended to stand for Viewer Control. Though a representative that supposedly coined the term said it stood for violence so that was a very sloppy question. Depending on the source both are said to be correct.
They brought back a bunch of people who were given faulty questions. He should have sent in a letter, Ed Toutant sent in a polite letter asking for a check on the question and got an invite back, he went on to win 1860000 after first leaving with 1000. It's past the statute of limitations on game show callbacks now though
The other reason is that Kissinger also won the prize. He simply didn't like the fact that one of those who convinced the US to keep its troops in Vietnam to massacre civilians was also awarded.
That V Chip question was chickenshit. I always felt so bad for contestants who left prematurely because of dumb questions like that. He seemed like a smart guy who would have gone into the deeper rounds. I just know, with my luck, if I ever got in the hot seat that would probably happen to me lol
The way I see it, had they gotten rid of the "viewer control" answer and replaced it with something else, the answer would've at least had been doable rather than two correct answers, with one being "more correct."
To me, as written this was a bad question. As aired, the contestant who had that question could have returned at a later time like several other contestants did; however if he selected B or C, the game would have been over for him anyway. Two people provided separate opinions on what the V stands for. Ed Markey thinks it means violence; Tim Collins (someone who helped with inventing the VCHIP) says the V meant viewer control.
WWTBAM did bring back a bunch of people who were given faulty questions, it was all polite and professional. Ed Toutant came back after the rollover but with his rollover jackpot per his contract, and he managed to win it, so they ended up giving out two rollover jackpots of 4 million combined. Too late now, but someone should have sent in a letter for the V chip guy, it got other contestants back on the show with a polite apology and invite back.
I still don't have it. Remember, if I haven't uploaded a show, there's a good chance I don't have it since I've uploaded almost everything, if not everything I've taped. Most of my shows left on tape are syndicated
@@jackiwheeler6963 Well, not when you have to helplessly sit and watch said jackpot go to someone else!! But relatives' behavior during that span was even more reprehensible!
Damn that 2nd guy was beyond bad. 3 lifelines in first 5 questions. Works in sports and goes on to fail a sports question. I am not American and even I knew the answer smh.
It was an early form of "parental control." Owners could set their televisions to not play certain programs that the ratings authorities deemed too violent.
some times these questions are so easy even in upper high cash like 32,000 and then bam an ungodly question that only a person with knowledge in that catergory can answer something like WHO was the 3rd king of england ?
33:46 wait wait, you’d pick calling your boss?? Really? If he gives you the right answer you win, your telling him off the next morning and quitting I’d never do that lol
