These first two episodes of the Fall 2001 series are where I see some sort of… …downgrade in this show’s quality. Scott McKeeve is the first of what I feel like is very few contestants in this era to answer the $250,000 question correctly, and no one in this era made it past the $500,000 question. Also, although I know why they made this change, the intro for this era looks… …pretty bland in my opinion. The background behind the logo is boring, and the sequence of the intro is permanent for the entirety of this last series, so it comes off as too generic. On the bright side, however, I’m looking forward to seeing the comedy stars special that ABC started the Monday after this episode aired. I know ABC overdid celebrity specials in this time period, but out of all the celebrity specials in this time period, the comedy one is the one I’m most excited about, because it has a very infamous moment in it.
I think the intro change may have been done in awake of the September 11th attacks. We saw a syndicated intro early on last Monday on Sports Superstars Part One of Four. That may or may not have been done by ABC for a later rebroadcast. Yes, the main civilian intro was permanent for every episode since their appearances only aired as new on that day of the week from that point on. Special editions were primarily assigned for Monday with some exceptions: The first Armed Forces episode aired on a Sunday, which was fitting since it was also Veterans Day. The second college edition's finale aired on a Thursday originally. There were five total episodes produced; three were from 2000. In mid February 2002, there were four new special episodes in a row, from the 11th to the 14th. The Ladies Night Editions were actually broadcasted as new during the last two Thursdays (of five) in May 2002.
Here's what else I wanted to see earlier on the bright side: Celebrity Edition III (as I discussed before)-It must have been skipped in real time due to celebrity clearance issues. I wanted it to at least replace Celebrity Edition II. Ed Toutant's third episode in better picture quality on GSN (as well as not sped up since it was a half hour show?) The full copy on Daily Motion actually has a millisecond of missing video in the Buena Vista logo! Maybe TGSC was going to cut the ads? BTW it was set for last Saturday at 6 PM. The full episodes of "Wheel of Fortune" featuring alumni Andy Nguyen (season 35, aired on 4-11-2018) and Jeremy Swartz (season 36, aired on 5-16-2019)
