@@nittyclips Because all those teams passed up on a player who will probably go down as one of the top 3 to ever play. You have to make a point of that.
And to think that Albert Pujols was drafted in the 13th round. Of the 402 players selected ahead of Pujols, 290 never played a game in the Majors. Now, that is crazy. Great video 👍
Brian Wilson was a very average pitcher at LSU and recovering from Tommy John surgery. Giants drafted him in the 24th round and he ended up being a great closer and important piece of their 2010 team. The Mets drafted Seth Lugo in the 34th round, and he’s had a solid MLB career.
oh muh god, ur soooooo smart. That's kind of the point of the video Jeffrey. Literally maybe the best player ever was drafted #25. You never know what you might get
Amazing video! You can tell how much work was put in, from the research, to the editing, to the timing of the video coming out; and really everything about it. Love to see the effort, and it truly paid off. Keep up the excellent work, you’re easily one of, if not the best MLB RU-vidrs out there
Been raging through your videos the past few weeks man. Keep up the great content! I know it can’t be easy when the season should be getting in the groove right now but I just wanted to show love
I loved this video, and love RU-vidrs who put a lot of effort and time into their videos. It turned out great Marc, and it was worth all of the 11:33 of my time.👍🏻
What good is having the best player if your team hasn't even been in the playoffs in the past 4-5 years. The number 1 pick from that year just helped his team win the World Series. Baseball is a team sport, the team is what matters most.
It's crazy watching this now. #11 Tyler Matzek actually came back and had an amazing year with the Braves in 2020. At first I just thought Marc didn't know what he was talking about, but then I remembered this video is a year and a half old.
I’m a Nats fan and I’m happy we got Strasburg! Finding a dominant postseason ace is hard and when healthy, he’s been amazing for us. Big factor in our World Series championship and now he’s with us for life!
8:33 Can we just acknowledge that when Marc said swing and miss, the player that Kyle Gibson struck out swing in the clip being shown was Mike Trout. 😂
2019:Nationals wins world series Angles:Can we go back in time Angles:dosent even make it to playoffs Stephen Strasburg:I made player of game in the world series
I'm so happy Mike Trout is playing for the Angels. I'm so happy Mike Trout even exists. I feel the same glee watching him play as I did watching Magic Johnson play. Truly a gift.
Love your videos man, you should do more on how well draft picks do year by year. For instance, start in the year 2005 and follow each 1st round pick from that year until now. Then in the next video do 2006. The videos would be about this length, maybe a little longer to cover all 30 teams. I think a pattern of scouts not knowing how to pick MLB caliber players would start to show.
I got a foul ball baseball from Mike Trout when he was in single A because I live like 20 minutes from that stadium. That team(Kernels) is now in the Minnesota Twins organization but at the time was in the Angels.
As a Dodger fan, the funniest story I heard was the DBacks had back to back picks in this draft and like 5 picks out of the first 60 picks or something, so they planned all along to take a high-end college prospect followed by a high-end high school prospect. They had planned for a while to take Trout as the high-end high school prospect, but a couple days before the draft their scouts went to see Trout one last time. Trout had apparently his worst ever game he's ever played, high school or pro, and the scouts had second thoughts, and that's what prevented the Dodgers from having to see Trout 19 times a year. Still sucks he's on our cross-town rival, but definitely an interesting story of how one off game could've affected so much of baseball history
I got really excited when you said Pericos de Puebla, because that's my home team and certainly my favorite team in the Mexican League. And by the way, Aaron appeared on the last leg of the season, and he almost didn't even played; ERA of 0.00, yeah, but he only had 6 appearances as a relief pitcher. As for the other guys who ended on Mexico with Acereros de Monclova and Toros de Tijuana, they never really did much either
To be fair no one knows how these players are going to end up. Some may have been insane athletes that you can’t pass up, some are arms and they are always hit or miss. Let’s be real everyone who’s getting drafted position player wise has great mechanics and has had success. So teams have to pick based on projections and there’s no way they could know a kid will be a mvp. Anyway great video mark.
It makes no sence how you say these teams wish they got mike trout cause then the butterfly affect would happen and trout might have never made it to mlb
Great video, but it’s not like all of those teams knew how trout would turn out. He was very underscouted due to the frequent rainouts in New Jersey, and if scouts had seen more of his games, he definitely would have been drafted higher.
Gregory Gallegos stras aint even the number one player or even pitcher on his own team buddy calm down 😂 proves baseballs a team game, one man cant carry a team to the playoffs or world series. without trout, the angels would be consistently finishing 10-15 games worse at the end of the season.
