Sometimes i feel like eugene is holding himself back with his full capability but his statement in the end gives us his perspective about the situation
Maxride268 Eugene said HE decided to kill his directing career cuz he felt it was a bit too controversial at the time. And now funnels these ideas through easy to get mediums.
@@amanSpawn00 I'd still love to see him take a few months to go direct a film now. Maybe not Korean musical surgery madness, but he's insanely talented and his aesthetic is impeccable.
小饿 I never said that. Eugene himself said HE felt his videos because of public opinion were too controversial. So now he expresses it more subtly through more mainstream mediums(like his I’m Gay video).
We all know that Keith has a darn good singing voice. I was amazingly impressed by Eugene's skill at directing, choreographing, cinematography....everything he did with his art videos. Mind-blowing good.
The idea that Eugene had to kill his directing career because the world wasn't ready for his controversial style makes me sad. Honestly, I found what little we saw of his works to be really good, but then again, I'm also into controversial things like that. I hope Eugene puts his stuff out there and continues his directing career one day.
I would love to see Eugene's films because he incorporates everything I love and really takes an extra step off the edge. His coming out video was a cinematic masterpiece and I need more darling XD
*Ned attended Yale University and majored in Chemistry* I knew that he went to Yale, but CHEMISTRY [edit]: NOT saying Ned doesn’t seem smart, or that Chemistry is a bad subject, I’m just shocked. Like if you picture a Chem major that goes to Yale (or any school actually) they wouldn’t seem like him (IMO- I know chem majors and they are just not like him). I would have thought he majored in English or something entertainment/writing related. It’s like John Mulaney- he went to Georgetown and was an English major, but he’s a comedian.
And now he owns a company along side the Try Guys. University is such a small time frame to decide what you want to do for the rest of your life. Sure Ned would have had a good career majoring in a STEM field, but interests change especially in college.
Everyone talking about Eugene's videos (which are amazing, of course), but I'm really impressed with Keith's work. I honestly think pulling off weird dark humor is harder than straight-up artsy dramatic work.
Hearing about Eugene stifling his creativity and vision for shareability really made me sad. It seemed like he really had a lot to offer. At least he seems happy where he is now.
I was thinking that now he has a following and experience he might be able to do more things. He's still fairly young and still very creative. I hope we'll see a LOT more out of him.
So kinda long story here. I currently attend ISU and am in the theatre department the Keith was in when he was here. Keith has a large legacy here, and most of it is , "it's not about fucking, it's about pizza." If that phrase doesn't show up on a white board sometime during the semester, something is wrong. We are very honored to have the great Keith Habersberger as an alum here at the ISU School of Theatre and Dance.
Would honestly love to watch projects he directs. I watched hos coming out video so many times, and I’d probably do the same with any other project he has. (Btw i love zack’s style too and I’d also watch his stuff)
Hannah Jackson Yeah, his coming out video was pretty damn PHENOMENAL!!! I wish that I had a role model like him when I was in high school in the 1980s.
i'm still stunned that ned graduated in yale with a chem major, i know i'm not the only one who wants the full story of the whole thing. anyways, go Philippines!!!
Eugene said he “didn’t actually release it on the festival circuit” - but does anyone know if he ever uploaded this anywhere else? I would love to see the full video - Please share link if it’s available!
Eugene is such a talented creator! Now that they have their own company and he isn't bound to Buzzfeed, I hope he'll have the opportunity to direct serious short films like these two again. ❤
The Try Guys are in a ''Strategic Partnership With BuzzFeed'' So they aren't completely independent... BuzzFeed serves as the advertising and branded content sales representative for The Try Guys under a commercial agreement. www.buzzfeed.com/buzzfeedpress/the-try-guys-form-independent-production-company-enter-into
I appreciate how disturbingly creative Eugene is, art is supposed to be eye-opening and hard to stomach sometimes, that he still shared those videos for this video is admirable. Also, Zach, anyone in high school who took Spanish made a terrible Spanish video, but nobody shares it after the fact.
FiveAMSkateSesh they’re all geniuses N Their own respective ways, which is all the more reason for us to be grateful they’re sharing these oddball videos with us.
1) it's Eugene, anything less than spectacular isn't in his vocabulary, 2) He went to USC, the best film school in America, so of course it's gonna be good
I've read about Eugene's short film about Comfort Girls before, and I wish he'd release it. I understand he didn't want one aspect of his career to sabotage the other, but from the snippets I've seen and read about it, I wish I could see it in full. They're all talented, but Eugene has a different type of talent that I wish he would explore and share with the world.
I hope Eugene gets to make more creative things like he used to do. I get that it's controversial, graphic, and not for everyone, but as a fellow creative I'd love to see him try making something like that again on a personal channel or something.
I heard about "Comfort Girls" a long time ago and was really disappointed when I couldn't find it online anywhere - though some of his other stuff is. He was using the label "ELY" for his work then, so I suppose if he wanted to continue in this direction, he could differentiate it from his mainstream material by going back to that old label.
I love how Eugene is so passionate about messages he would like to convey in his videos. He puts so much thought into the deeper meaning of each action, it's really quite beautiful even when its terrifying. He has so much depth to his soul
Ok I know this video tried to make the mainstreamification of Eugene's creativity into a good thing but his videos were absolutely genius. I hope he knows that he's built enough of an audience that many will follow what he feels is the "extreme" parts of him bc if that's you, Eugene, go for it man! I feel like he would love Contrapoints' aesthetic. She's someone who I feel has really found a niche that only she can fill.
Having seen "I'm Gay", I do hope their new company will continue to help Eugene go bigger and further than the usual Try Guys videos. Also, gross surgeries aside, I do want to see both Eugene's pre-Buzzfeed works shown in this video.
As someone who's a fan of really extreme and grotesque visuals it makes me sad that Hollywood has dwindled his comfort in creating more art like that. I hope he doesn't water down his future projects for the sake of it being easily digestible.
Eugene is so good as a director! He made that buzzfeed generations throughout the years video which is still one of my fav buzzfeed videos. He has a certain aesthetic and good voice that I hope I get to see more of in Try Guys!
omg, YES! I loved the generations video! It was really amazing. High production value, stunning images, excellent delivery of information. I could not have asked for more!
Not only that, he also directed and edited The History of Queer Dance, Women's Ideal Body Types Throughout History, Wedding Dresses Across Asia, and so much more! He's hella creative and skilled, and I have a lot of respect for him and his work. One of the Try Guys' Patreon goals is to have the capacity to create more scripted content, like short films, music videos, and the like. Hopefully they reach that goal!
ibhouse I so would like to see Eugene’s film that they showed last! It looks so thought provoking and well directed! I don’t care about blood or what not.
Man, Eugene is mad talented. Dude, feel free to push the content you want on your personal channel. That video seemed incredible and important. You've always been the best Buzzfeed had, I hope you get out there and can fund your projects again. Much love man. ❤️
people make choices. You can also say "Ned should have sticked with his chemistry career he graduated from Yale he probably will end a quality control director at some top 100 company"
It made my heart hurt a bit too; I'm sure it wasn't an easy or painless decision. But it's a smart decision nonetheless. He's in a better position to have an audience for his less mainstream content should he ever decide to pivot in that direction now that he's an established presence.
@@halloween482 why does it suck? it's his life decision and thanks to that we are enjoying Try Guys. He stands by his decision. It doesn't matter what your opinion is.
wow eugene's short films seem really interesting... i get that it isn't mainstream at all but i wish we could see him do more of this stuff i mean with the rise of the so called post horror films lately i could definitely see something in this style of his making some buzz
I agree, i think mainstream stuff sometimes feels to "dumb" or too farsical to me, and Eugene's ideas are really great and creative.. I'm not great with horror so idk if I could watch all the Eugene originals, but man, his ideas are really great and even though both films seemed dark, I think there is a market for them. My question to Eugene is, how do you feel taming down your creativity to fit mainstream? If you don't mind it that's fine with me - but isn't the point of art to be provocative and don't you want to leave an artistic legacy behind that reflects the inside of your soul? Things you've probably thought about Eugene.. but I just wanted to put it out there. Respectfully, discopineapple
I hope Eugene gets a chance to create films like that again. As much as I love this channel, it's really unfortunate he can't properly show off his skills in any of these videos
I FOUND THESE WEIRD ARTICLES IN THE YALE NEWS THING ned wrote an article that insulted yale sports and then some guy wrote an article against him defending sports and then ned wrote an apology article LMAO
Wow, I would LOVE to see Eugene's short film. That literally spoke about Korea's beauty standards alot. Petition for Eugene to show his full short film!
Why aren't enough people talking about how Ned majored in Chemistry and graduated from Yale? Come on, that is big deal. I want to know how did he end up on Buzzfeed with such qualifications ?
What you major in doesnt define what your future occupation will be.. i am in highschool and ‚majoring‘ in arts even though i want to focus on economics later Though it is insanely impressive that ned majored from one of the best universities in the world in chemistry.. chapeau
I remember watching a whole video about his career change but I cannot remember where. It does exist on RU-vid though if you are curious enough to find it
Really truely understanding chemistry requires strong spatial perception and the ability to visualize shapes and structures, which are the same skills found in successful visual artists. Most of the chemists I know are actually very artistic/musical/witty/creative in the time we are allowed out of the lab. Source: Chemist, BS, expert in trace metals analysis
I really like Eugenes past videos, even if they’re pure gore. I feel like they meet a more political topic. The first one school shootings(perhaps, I can’t recall them saying a topic) and the second one Korean beauty standards and the history of the rape and pillage. I just think that Eugenes past films has a deeper meaning.
I like how most of the guys majored in something relevant to their current career (Eugene and Zach in Film Production, Keith in Theater).... and then there’s Ned, who majored in CHEMISTRY from YALE
Even without The Try Guys, the Buzzfeed content Eugene directed was highly distinct from all the other content created under the Buzzfeed brand. Along with continued success for The Try Guys channel, I hope for the chance to see more of Eugene's vision. I still revisit Eugene's _Generations Throughout History_ video once a month.
I remember reading comments on that video comparing Eugene's uncluttered, clean lines to Stanley Kubrick's visual aesthetic. He could translate ideas and intense emotions into film very well.
Also can we just take a moment to appreciate Keith’s singing. WHY THE FUCK is he so good at it, I think he should get more credit. Also those high notes tho. POP THE FUCK OFF SIS (Keith your amaze balls)
Okay, but Eugene is obviously brilliant at film making/directing. I want to see more of his dramatic stuff!!! The world needs things that make them uncomfortable sometimes.
Oh my gosh I need to see all of Eugene's film and The Fresh Manager before I die. Also I wish Eugene's music video got more attention, but it really puts things into perspective.
