Correct me if I’m wrong but Sainz has no obligation to drive for Audi therefore they have no choice in his career moves. I 100% agree that Sainz to RB is unlikely, if a Ferrari half season payoff is all it takes to lock down a top 5 driver in my opinion than that’s fully worth it. You touched on driving styles, but completely missed how Daniel's driving style is the main reason he's in contention. Daniel is known to have a similiar driving style to Max, with preference for strong front end and ability to control rear instability that's a result of that. Red Bull probably saw him fitting that RB19 like a glove on Silverstone last year and that's why they've immediately placed him in AlphaTauri to prepare him for transfer to the main team. They hoped he'd justify the transfer with his performance there, but that's where the whole plan got derailed. That said, they're probably still hoping that putting him in a more fitting car will unleash his potential.

@DjDolHaus86
@DjDolHaus86 Месяц назад
So here's the problem (we've seen it before in 21 with Hamilton and Bottas) - Verstappen and Perez have vastly different needs from the car (Max likes it pointy, Checo likes it planted) and because the competition has caught up performance-wise they can't afford to spend upgrade development bringing the car closer to what Perez needs, they can only keep focusing on developing the car for Verstappen because he's the one bringing home the points. Last year and the year before they had a massive package advantage over the rest of the field so they didn't need to make the car quicker for Verstappen, they could comfortably take some peak performance away from how he liked the car and make it suit Perez better to keep a consistent spread of points for the constructors championship. This year is different, the car isn't as dominant, they can't sacrifice Verstappens peak performance to make the car easier for Perez so he's just having to drive what he's been given. I think we will see this story repeated more and more in the future due to budget and development restrictions. If a car doesn't have some kind of unassailable edge at the beginning of new regulations then it will quickly become a one driver team unless you've got two drivers who like a similar kind of car.
@perkins8417

@@perkins8417 unfortunately there aren't many drivers who have the same skill set as verstappen. Alonso might have been a good shout if he was 5 years younger, leclerc might work but you'll never get him out of ferrari. If you look at most races, the top 7 positions are usually filled by Max, Lando, Oscar, Carlos, Charles, Lewis and George in some order or other. Checo is then somewhere further back fighting in the midfield. I think all he really has to do is regularly be up in that top 8 with the other drivers from the top 4 teams and that would be enough for Red Bull even if he wasn't winning races. But he's not even clearing that very low bar. Considering how ruthlessly Red Bull pulled the trigger on Kvyat and Gasly, it's astonishing that Checo is still there.

My prediction, if no contracts are broken outside of RB, is Ricciardo in RB, Tsunoda and Lawson in VCARB, Perez out. Yes, Ricciardo's form has WARRANTED him getting the RB seat, but in a championship that is now going to be super close, I would prefer a veteran who has been in that team before, over a rookie being thrown straight into a tense WCC battle, or moving Tsunoda up, where he isn't comfortable, and the extra pressure. Don't get me wrong, Tsunoda has 100% earned the right to be in that RB seat, but it's blatantly obvious he is a seat warmer until Honda goes to AM, and then he'll move with Honda. To me at least, doesn't it sound like the safest, most reliable option? Yes, say what you want about Ricciardo not having fully earnt it yet, but do you think RB, who know him the best, won't be able to maximise his potential, and bring him back to his best?

My take if Checo is sacked mid-season, then Daniel > RBR Liam > RB For 2025: RBR: Max, Daniel RB: Yuki, Liam Liam's performance will be evaluated and if he does not meet the expectation to be Max's teammate in the future, he'll be another Pierre/Yuki because Red Bull surely will have to get a seat ready for Arvid Lindblad in 2026/27. And Red Bull doesn't want to risk promoting 2 rookies/young drivers at once in the same season. That's why Isack Hadjar will be the reserve driver for both teams even if he wins Formula 2 this year.

I’d like seeing Nicholas Latifi in the Red Bull, on his day NL6 has been able to out-qualify George Russell in the same machinery and even Alexander Albon who had a more advanced car. I think Nicky would give Verstappen a run for his money on his best days, remember Budapest 2021? Spa 2021? Silverstone 2022? The man has “it” and also has big backing from massive meat suppliers Sofina and coffee brand Lavazza who must have an elite eye for performance as they’ve backed Latifi for his racing merit since day 1, an exceptional option!

I think they should put Riccardo in the seat for the remainder of the season. If he continues to fall short of expectations, they can then promote Lawson or Tsunoda (or hire another driver). That way they are giving Lawson the seat they promised and testing the theory that Daniel could be a competent second driver.

These fan Analysis is starting to become cringe. People wanna see who they want to see compete, there is no "deserve" in most sport. The spirit of sporting is supposed to inspire and motivate us, if people inside the sport and the fans of the sport wants to see a DR come back then a chance to try could be worth while. If the case people are pointing out are just skills, points, and wins then VCARB doesnt even deserve to be an F1 team since they dont even strife to win, they are just there for a testing bed for RB. It's quite disgusting to have them occupy a slot simply for the success of another team, dont belive me? Everytime they have a champion they move up to RB main team, and the goal of drivers driving for them are to get into RB main team. So how would they ever be a champion team?

I don't know but Red bull literally mid run ditching Perez and putting Yuki in the RB18 was a statement. It was so last minute they didn't even inform the organisers. I know for a fact people at historic car runs at Red bull weren't even told and nor was Yuki before DC came and said Yuki is driving and Perez was standing there ( he didn't comment) literally the first time in history he ever drove a Red bull racing car. Yuki to RBR mid season is a big possibility and Lawson in mid season and also apparently Helmut wants a 16 year old rookie in F3 or F2 to be in F1 next year when he is 17

It's worth noting that over the last several races Ricciardo has been pretty much level with Yuki. He has been slightly slower at times, but has also made less mistakes. I feel like Red Bull will give Daniel one last shot. Mainly because he just can't be worse then Perez and he is having a better season then Sergio, but I think there's also a little bit of sentimental value to it. Horner likes Ricciardo, we all know that, and Danny may he his one big regret. Had they given him the car in 2014 and 2016 (and, to a degree, in 2018), Daniel would, at the very least, be fighting for the Championship, and I think in 2014 and 2016 he would have a great shot at it. And because of that, Horner may feel like he has to give him one last chance, last dance, if you will.

Short of Danny Ric or Liam Lawson. Factor in potential financial losses for/and keeping Perez 6 months. Or factor in potential losses plus buying out Perez from his remaining contract plus hiring a temp driver & paying them and also getting said replacement released from any current deals and you have your answer. Perez will keep the seat warm til the end of the season and then he's out. Cheapest and most sensible option when you can't even guarantee 1st in the constructors.

sainz in the other seat is their safest option to seal constructors because max and carlos line up would be the best and most experienced one as well, max then could focus solely on drivers title and win it with a not so good like last year but around 100 point lead over second driver which could be sainz in second seat.

Here's an idea. Perez previous contract had no mid season performance clause which is why Red Bull signed a new one. Perez wanted multi-year and this was the carrot to convince him to sign and Perez couldn't believe he would fail the performance requirements. Yuki is actually being lined up to replace Perez which is why he was signed so early in the season as part of this powerplay. Danny will be used to train up Liam as he looks like he has the most potential of their limited driver pool. Neither can be signed until Perez is removed as Red Bull reveal their hand too early.

Horner just recently has commented on Isack Hadjar having a chance for F1 next year as well. Hadjar currently leads the F2 Driver's Championship and is in fine form, and could certainly be in a similar position as Lawson in competing for a seat at Racing Bulls next year. Truly the amount of drivers vying for seats at Redbull and RB is an endless battle.
