A volcanic vent was discovered more than 100 years ago in Sussex County. The site is known as Rutan Hill, aka, the Beemerville Volcano. It has no crater and its remains are approximately 1,500 feet in diameter and covered with trees and vegetation along with a few private residences. No worries though. There hasn’t been volcanic activity here in 420 million years.
