Today, we ask a few questions: Is it completely pointless to try to reduce greenhouse gas emissions considering the large pollution of volcanos? And how exactly do volcanos affect their surroundings? In short, Valur and Art visit the volcano, talk volcanos, and then find out that two vents have gone empty. What will happen next?

I really appreciate the fact that you guys don't cover the audio of video clips with music. Getting to hear the sounds of this eruption, in places where no human could safely trek, adds a whole new layer of depth to the reporting and sets this channel apart from others.

@@ETRuT1 In some of the newscast episodes you can briefly see the shadow of the cam guy. There you could see that the mobilphone is simply mounted in a gimbal system. That's why the focus is so concentrated on the narrator even in that rough terrain where they both walk. Nothing to do with being a "superb cameraman"! Everyone with such a technological tool and some training in its usage can produce such pictures. (If one has the luck to be in such a place that is of course!) Haven't seen an episode from them yet where they talk about the job background of the people so of course it could be that Valurs guy is a trained cameraman with years of professional videoshooting, but I doubt it! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gimbal

Art's skill with the drone is really just next-level, he's so amazing! The calm approaches, the speeding up over the lava, the rock steady hover...he just takes your breath away. The two of you are just the best pairing since...I dunno...since Djúpur put licorice in chocolate! 😍🇮🇸🌋🍫

Yes, I agree. Another example was when Vadur was mentioning the rain-like sounds that the still hot parts of the lava rock; Art had the drone zoom in on a close up of the lava and increased the volume to make that subtle sound more evident.

First time I have ever heard a newscaster use the word bullshit on a national news show. I wish all news anchors could feel so free and honest to use words like that to accurately describe a particular situation. Well done as always, gentlemen. It will be a sad day indeed when the vents close down and the gorgeous lava flows cease to captivate our enthralled attention.

Actually, lava flows and falls are an older concept than their water equivalents. This planet was molten rock for millions of years before any liquid water formed at all. So, 'precedence' should turn your comment around.

By the way, when I was on Iceland in 2018 I already loved your newspaper. I can’t get enough of looking at the volcano-the cones, lava being flung into the air, lava moving slowly and lava running down a hill, it is just all so fascinating. I would so love to have a piece of the lava to go with my mineral collection, I hope that will be available at your store soon too! Or that I will be able to come and get a specimen myself. My daughter and I depend now on your videos for a closer look at the volcanoes and lava fields. We visited Iceland Sept 2012, June 2013, July 2015 and July 2016. We were constantly fascinated by the history, people, bird life, plants, etc.etc. And yes we have many items from 66* N. Thanks for keeping us informed on a Country that we adore.

So good of you to catch the noise made at the edges of flows. That will continue for some time as it creeps from pressure or the weight of lava behind and collapsing as it cools and off gases. You or your producer or your cameraman I don't know who is responsible but someone there has the eye for capturing something different than the drama queens, equally interesting, fascinating really. There's much more to this eruption than liquid rock shooting into the sky and I am glad someone takes the time to let us see IT too. I look forward to your segments - the whole lot of you do an excellent job.

Excellent shots of the moving lava and great presentation. Although the amount of lava spewed out so far does not seem huge, I think this location over the Mid-Atlantic Rift is similar to Krafla in the north, where I believe the eruptions lasted from 1975 to 1984, so this may go on for some time. It would be interesting to know what exactly is causing the smoke in vent no. 1: a sulphur deposit perhaps.

Yeah, many have said that this eruption is similar to the Krafla-fires (Kröflueldar). And i think we can be pretty sure that this smoke has a lot of sulphur deposit. Me and Art once found ourselves in the smoke, and it burns your eyes and throat pretty aggressively.

Really enjoy your Newscasts, and watch for each one to be released. Missed seeing the chief moral officer in this one. Love your commentary and your perspective from the view of the people of Iceland. I'm especially interested because all of my ancestors are Finnish, which makes us shirt tail relatives.

There are no words to express how much I love this video footage, and the commentary. I am sharing the material (for example) with a 94 year old friend who was a documentary film director for decades. With him the conversations are about both the technology and what one can do with the technology; the drones are a part of this of course. My list of friends who have Iceland in their hearts is not short; and they all want to get back there to see the eruption. 😁 I am so glad it is being put to video for us all. ty.

I very much like your broadcasts and your comments daily. First thing I do every day is to connect with your RU-vid channel and see how the situation changes continuously. Thank you very much for the weekly overview of the vulcano area. You explain everything very well. You give me also an idea of the location by showing if you are east or west of the craters and valleys.. It helps to understand it better. Thanks a lot.

That's a very good point. In the beginning, we are standing south of the lava, in the second and third, we are west of the lava, and in the end, we are standing in the north side of the lava, where Meradalur is.

Excellent reporting. Mount Tambora eruption occurred on April10, 1815 causing snow in June and crops failed here in the United States as well as other parts of the world. The end of the video was spectacular! Well done.

Lava sounds just like Hekla eruption, crinkling glass. Now all you need is a Coca-Cola bottle and a length of pipe to create a unique flower vase with a lava base on it! Appreciate your videos of both this eruption as well as your previous video-logs. Great placement of the volcano over your shoulder! Not too many reporters have lava sprouting during their narrative.

Thank you so much for explaining the effect of volcanoes. I've been talking about this with some friends since the eruptions began this year. Also, there's a bit of this volcanic discussion in Andri Snær Magnason's book "On Time and Water" (which I found about because of your online shop, thank you). Great read for Earth Day. That footage at the end! No💙💙💙 also, how beautiful that sound of lava crackling like rain. Thank you for sharing! I never heard that before!
