WHO WOULD HAVE KNOWN? Reacting to Bee Gees 'You Should Be Dancing' (Saturday Night Fever) 

As a senior citizen at 64 years old the answer to your questions are yes this is exactly how it was in the 1970s! There were disco clubs one right after another lined up down the highways and we would just bounce from one club to the next and it was such fun! We learned all the dance moves to all of the songs, we wore the platform shoes that you see with the big heels and bellbottom tight jeans, it was great fun and there were no fights and no trouble everybody came with a bunch of their friends and we just danced had a few drinks and really enjoyed ourselves never worrying about if somebody was going to pull out a gun or a knife or start a fight that didn’t exist everybody just was out to have a good time! It’s a shame that your generation didn’t experience that. But I’m glad that you’re having fun watching this video!

They most certainly did dance like this it was called the disco era in the 70s! John Travolta starred in a movie called Saturday night fever and this is one of the dance scenes from the movie!!

You know, some people may look at this video and laugh, or say it's stupid, or out dated (I've read it before on RU-vid) but we forget that the next generation will be looking back at what people are wearing now, their fads, their music, etc. and some will laugh, and say it's stupid or out dated. I guess it happens with every generation and no one gets out of it, lol.....

So.. Yes. People did in fact dance just like this. In the 1970s People would get together in clubs, bars, pool halls, anywhere there was a juke box really and dance. The fast happy world of disco made people smile and gave the world a happiness it hasn't had since. This one will really blow your mind. On the slower songs like ballads and love songs, total strangers would partner up and dance together without anyone being arrested for sexual assault. I know that's crazy by today's standards but people actually became friends this way. Madness I know. Amusing video though. Cheers :D

Yes, entire rooms of people danced like this to up tempo songs. On ballads, love songs, and down tempo songs people actually partnered up and (I know it's hard to believe) danced closely together, holding each other close. Weird huh?

I'm actually glad you reacted to John Travolta dancing to the song. I understand that this is how the dancing was done them, and according to that style of dance, John Travolta killed it!

I was young in the disco era and YES IT ALL HAPPENED, there were disco clubs all over the country and my GF drug me to one of our local clubs many times. There were many great dancers out there and some bad ones too but every one had a great time.

You should try it, this is proper dancing at it's best not some twerking and bump 'n' grind crap you get at nightclubs

better to watch the Bee Gees live performance of this that featured younger brother Andy Gibb.... John Travolta was 23years old here. He trained 9 months for this dance and subsequently lost 20 lbs.
