As a guitar player myself, I have been playing this song for over 20 years live and also I don't like it any other way than its original form, I mean ROCK!!! Jimmy Page wrote one of the biggest and best known rock riffs of all time and Robert Plant, being one of the greatest voices, has added his divine vocals to this masterpiece. Also, John Paul Jones and John Bonham gave the soul and energy. So, somebody should be very careful when covering this song, and yes, I am very picky about covers!!! That being said, I' d like to thank the uploader and here is my thoughts and rankings: 1-) Ukraine: Absolute Winner. Excellent voice and performance, very close vocal range as Robert Plant. One of the best covers I' ve heard of this song and I heard much too many, believe me. Guitar player has very nice raw guitar (Les Paul) sound, he is the second best after Croatian player, also band sound good and big. 2-) Croatia: First runner-ups. He has great and dirty rock voice, but not high enough like mr. Plant, still sounded nearly as good as Ukrainian guy to my ears, best and big sound from the band and from my personal favorite guitar player in this group, also sound guy did a great job with stereo right to lefts so they have overall the biggest and most successful sound. 3-) Greece: Not a rock rendition of the song so I cannot give too much credit for this performance but her voice is great, I am sure she could' ve make a great rock version but somehow they decided this way. Guitar player has average sound and average performance, I don' t like the band too much, either. 4-) Brasil: Again, great voice but definitely not a hard-rock rendition, guitar player is very average, I don't like his sound much and missed many details, band was average also, I would expect much better performance from Brasilians. 5-) France: Too, too, too weak voice for this song. She shouldn't have been allowed to cover one of the biggest rock songs in history in such a contest. Guitar player did a nice job, again raw and big sound but missing some details, band was good especially drummer. 6-) Peru: Weak and too "clean" voice for this kind of music, but she has a nice voice especially managed to sing high notes easily but I suppose this was done just to show-off as nothing related to the song. Guitarist is the worst one in the group, he doesn't know how to get a good guitar sound and he can't play the song, he better quit this job and start selling shoes. On the other hand, I like bass player' s and drummer' s performances but eventually the band sounded bad to my ears.
It's too bad for you guys 'cause the best of the best is not in there. The one from the voice Canada, Rémi Chassé, a piece of anthology, a pure perfection, adrenaline on top.
What show!!. The last three girls are pure adrenaline and ROCK!. The first guy also with a voice out of the normality. But i must say a thing: 'this masterpiece by Led Zeppelin need just a good voice, for the rest give always pure skills', less mutter who is the singer...
Ukrainian singer is the best male from this set, really liked it. As for the women, i prefered the Greece......not actually rock style, but VERY emotional. Great ones !
