Whoppi Goldberg speaks as part of the award presentation to Honorary Award recipient Donald Sutherland at the 2017 Governors Awards in the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland in Hollywood, CA, Saturday, November 11, 2017.
After today's touching moment on The View, I had to look up Whoopi's speech. What a beautifully heartfelt speech for a tremendously talented actor. I love them both.
Mr. Sutherland was so touched by Whoopie's speech. He was on the view today and was in tears just talking about it. He wants the speech. She said she did not right the speech, she was just coming from the heart. The show will transcribe her speech for him.
Mark wahlberg's been nominated for an Oscar once, Will Smith twice. Both former rappers. Donald Sutherland, never. He was definitely robbed of a nomination for Ordinary People.
What movie was that ? Sorry I know Donald's work I've seen mash ordinary people disclosure scene stealing in JFK and so on but which movie is that. His son keifer is amazing as well he played some baddies when I was a kid so when he did 24 playing the hero and getting all those awards and love I'd have to say this us a great father son duo one of the best actually up their with michael and Kirk douglas
It was a lovely speech, buuuut anyone who has seen the movie even once knows the daughter drown (opening scene, on which the whole movie is based) and the red of the jacket is symbolic to everything else in the film, starting with the red paint spilling as she drowns while wearing the red coat. It's not a small detail - every time red is prominently featured, something bad happens. (watch the movie from a cinematography standpoint, it is NOT a horror film). This was a huge gaffe, like crediting Ben Kenobi with saying 'Luke, I am your father'. Tx for the comment. I really like Whoopi and Donald.
bonicon1 she didn’t say she was talking about don’t look now, she may have been alluding to it but if that is what you took from this speech you should watch it again because you’re missing the meaning behind what she said and the whole point
