As the owner of the car, thanks guys, made my evening! The car is incredible in stock form, the chassis, the suspension, a Michelin PS4S is easily the weakest link on a track so I upgraded to the very best. The endless brakes made it even better. There's always room for improvement but I will stop at this point because it's an awesome and reliable everyday car too. Goes around a track like this while I can fit all 4 wheels in the back with 1 week of luggage and a passenger next to me and go on a holiday in the greatest comfort. The wind noise: a shitty window seal on the right, needs to be fixed, above 170 starts to get a bit noisy. Bodyroll: 0. Also I'm not small but Thor is way bigger than me :D Cheers everyone!
Lmao I was thinking you looked like small Thor! Btw great car, really cool setup. Peugeot is back in endurance racing, maybe something trickles down :)
This "pilot" as you say is more than bad otherwise the Peugeot would not get any closer. For example at 5:18 he does not know how to take his trajectories so imagine the rest..
Didn't they say the Peugeot RCZ R made 270hp? In the Australian market the Yaris makes 268hp meaning the RCZ is more powerful, unless the Yaris is more powerful in other markets.
well.. doing that a couple of times is probably gonna kill it. I had a 208 with the same engine and only had issues with it.. they're great when they work. WHEN they work
@@l33tnobody1337different internals on this to the 208 - the 208 engine has the same setup as the 2010/2011 308GTI 200bhp - I had one and had nothing but issues with the engine as well
14:50 that corner speed was pretty much equal to the last 991.2 GTS video, no wonder the owner was checking the speedometer several times more and more scared :)
Ill never understand this. There are many cars Misha drove that came close to cornering speeds of 911, 991 or GT3rs or whatever Porches best car is. And those cars cost like 10k euro vs Porsche being 200k. Why is porsche 50x the price? And how are these shitboxes cornering almost as fast as a racecar?
@@tehmikesclips this is not a shitbox, it has almost 300 horsepower wich is a lot for an average car, plus it has top tier tires, tires are the most important thing for cornering speed, toghether with aero, but thats another topic
@@tehmikesclips because their are plenty of cheaper hot hatches and cars similar to this that are extremely capable. Supercars are very overrated for their price, but if you want a car, like a porsche that is clearly super quick, then you need to pay a whole lot more for not really a huge gain, unless driven at the absolute limit to which most of us couldn't achieve. That Peugeot rcz would be tonnes of fun and much more suitable to the avg driver than a porsche imo.
@@tehmikesclips mostly because of Physics: The tires on the RCZ are more extreme than those of most Porsches, the RCZ weighs about 1.350kg which is also a bit lighter than modern Porsches, the center of gravity is quite low on the Peugeot and it has decent Suspension. The tire size an power is now the limit for the Peugeot, Porsches roll on way bigger tires and obviously have more power.
@@mgcharoudin Hy. I have a small comment. The "stiffness of the body" is not sufficient "the body is twisted". I looked the round loud and noticed that the "wind noise" appeared at 140-150 in the corner. When running straight, it appears after 170-180. This is due to "body twisting". A lot of people don't know, but I'm sure you've already experienced it with cars with a "floor shifter". Even the "planes of the gear stages can move" so much that the driver switches to two instead of four in the corner (with large lateral forces), of course, this also depends on how stable the fix of the gearbox is. And the owner talked about further developments, which means even greater power effects. Do you think that a little extra bracing (reinforcement) on the body would be necessary? I mean roll cage or half roll cage. I would like your opinion.
@@lbnewell23 Yes, (finally someone who understands why I wrote). Misha talked to the owner about harder suspensions and even more horsepower. At that time, this phenomenon will also increase. For this reason, it would be good to go after it with "body stiffness". That's all I wanted, thank you and have a nice day. P.S. With your permission, I will copy your message to anyone who thinks I am worried, envious or have written anything bad about the car, the driver and his abilities.
What a machine. No one really knows about the RCZ R’s infinitely better than the mk2 and mk3 Audi TT for pure driving fun. They came with Alcon calipers, differential and stronger engine internals. Great vid. Misha’s face said it all.
Agree! There is a point though were it becomes silly (too modern tyres on too old cars), i can speak from my own experience...... I have a Peugeot 305 GT from 1985 with very soft stock suspension, running Nankang NS-2R semi's. Last years laps on the ring made for some hilarious pictures. Bodyroll 10x, all the corner speeds, but 0 power on the straights. It might seem silly, but i still can't wait to take it to the ring again this year. And if the stars allign, a lap with Misha in the 305 would be the icing on the cake.
That E46 overtaking on the right of the FK2R Civic at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tvu_vdruW8k.html is a true to form behaviour for him sitting in front of the Peugeot for the next 2 minutes without checking his mirrors
@@jules_gouget Renault fait plus souvent des trucs cool (nouvelle A110, Mégane RS etc...) Peugeot en fait beaucoup plus rarement mais en général, lorsqu'ils en font c'est des bangers
This is my favorite video in the years of following your channel Misha. And you did two laps! What a bonus. Shame that the GoPro kept falling off time and time again - LOL! What a great little car the RCZ-R is especially for having only 1.6 liters!
Cup 2 r but those tyres were still pushed to the limit... it was not the most cost efficient tyre for the car but they looked like they were put to good use by misha, therefore the owner got his money's worth. 😄
Most of what separates the best handling cars from more normal cars is just tyres. Sure suspension and layout etc are important but most cars with decent suspension are improved by running the best possible tyres
Liked it to see, too. Peugeot had some nice goes in the past, like the 406 Coupe, or in the 80s they had a prototype Peugeot Oxia/Oxya, great car to see back then!
@@christian-van-e I also remember the 405 mi16 , that car was amazing to drive, it was lightweight with a manual and an exciting engine. It really is a shame Peugeot doesn't have it anymore when it comes to Sporty cars.
19:15 The stone cold face of "I almost messed up" is so dangerously relatable. A fraction of a second spent looking at the rear view mirror almost lead to you going into the barrier 😬
You'd need to change the diffs on that car for the ring, since in it's spec for Pikes peak it tops out at 240kph or 149mph. With that amount of grip and power it would be banging the limiter in 6th gear nearly half of the lap :D
The Peugeot RCZ is too under rated, probably due to the badge as the front. If only there was some company doing a facelift front including the headlights.
Well, its 1.6 THP... one of the shittiest BMW engines.. I guess thats the reason they are under rated, honestly I would never buy it just because it comes with this engine.
There's a 308 Cup if you wanted to see that 😄 Or the slightly more road-legal "308 RC ByFactory" which is basically a custom-built 308 GTi with the cup running gear and some various other bits. Not sure anyone has done similar things to the RCZ-R, but the 308 and RCZ are basically the same car anyway - RCZ is prettier and more luxury-focused, 308 has more tech and is a tiny bit lighter, so for this stuff basically the same. The 308 in either of those versions with the widebody is sexy too.
@@jonathanb.1625 Sadly not a road legal one! Just for a race series, but apparently it's quicker in the wet than a McLaren GT4 car - not in the dry, but that still says a lot about the handling, I'd love to try one but I imagine that would cost a lot...
They will be in some years as some of them get destroyed by inexperienced sporty drivers, other abusing revs, and when the age starts to get some of them too.. I bet if laws still allow for ownership and selling of used internal combustion cars these cars will sell for the equivalent of 60k€ if there are no penalties for owning such cars of course
I love Misha's video anyway but as an RCZ owner I particularly love the RCZ vids and seeing Misha impressed. There will always be RCZ lovers and haters who've never owned or driven one. Me personally, I will keep mine to the day I die, I'll sell my Jacobs or kidney before selling my RCZ for two reasons: 1 it belonged to my late mum, a gift from me to her. 2 It's a fantastic car. (I'd keep it even if it wasn't but fantastic is better.) Thank you for the video Misha and thank you for sharing your car with Misha and us.
I was looking for brakes today for the R and its a disaster. I only find a supplier selling the OEMs for 1400 Euro only for the front. What brakes are on that one again? is the brake caliper a different one than original? btw. i hate that the RCZ R doesnt have any gauges like oil temp, oil pressure, boost etc. theres nothing other than the water temp.
Plz try to do a lap with 208 by Peugeot sport It has nothing to do with the normal gti The French have a lot of flair when it comes to setting up chassis
Must admit, never been a fan of these since driving the 200bhp version, felt too slow and loose. But just goes to show what a difference a little more HP, pads and tires can do. 👏🏽 👍🏼
I wonder if an insta 360 go camera would be good for the dash. Their smaller and shouldn't fall off because their lighter. Love the RCZ I've been trying to find a nice one for a while now. Something about the bubble glass roof 😁
So sad that we don't have this R version here on my country just the RCZ and AT! RCZ-R seems a nice and funny car! I own a DS3 and i like it so much too! Second lap was much much better
For the gauges camera you should have a rubber strap that is adjustable and grips around the whole steering column. Something like a GoPro chest mount but only single strap. I think there are "wrist" mounts for GoPro that offer something like that but would need a bigger strap.
I love the idea of stock suspension relatively stock power but with great tires, so you can have fun at low speeds with high corner speed and good braking thanks to the tires!! You can have fun in a car like that without endangering everybody else on the road!!
@mgcharoudin Misha, try to wipe a panel with antisilicone (e.g. Baslac 70-10, Standox antisilicone or any other for car bodyworks). The camera would definitely hold much better. It doesn't need much, just a slight wipe.
i have normal RCZ 1.6 200km. Great car, great handling. Would be nice to have a bit more power but stage 1 without mods make only like 230km and extra 70 ps. still have to do it and downpipe + some exhaust swap for sure. its look way better in real life than in photos or videos
I owned an RCZ for 7 years. The handling is phenomenal. I had mine on Eagle F1 tires. Think of a speed that you think you can handle a corner at, and just add 20%.
Its amazing how a good line gives you the carry on speed after overtook bmw you dropped it after 1 second as will smith once said .." now thats how you drive ..." ❤
@@ApothecaryTerry Forged internal, K04 turbo and ur good to go for 300+hp :) I'm only aiming at 220 hp with stock internals - and I already got the parts installed, just need a tune -😉
@@jonathanb.1625 GTi already has the forged internals so I think there are 2 possible conclusions here. 1: If you want performance and value, just buy a R / GTi. 2: Tuning is fun. There is (obviously) no wrong answer, and it sounds like you picked option 2 😁 I'm too lazy to tune so I bought a 308 GTi (with a decat) because it's ideal for me, or at least tuning can't make it less...French (cupholders for everyone but the driver...nobody else does this 🤣). Tuning means it's your car the way you want it though, you're starting with a great chassis and power is overrated anyway so 220hp sounds good to me - I swapped a Porsche for my 308 because I don't need to go that fast, but even the 308 is silly to be honest, I've got more hp/tonne than a Testarossa!
@@ApothecaryTerry Tuning is funnier 😂 I got a french sports car shitbox (Peugeot 207 SW RC - Misha covered it in a video -), it's hilarious the way this car is a sleeper ! The 308 GTi is my dream daily car tbh 😂 With minor mods (same as yours + oil catch can + bigger intercooler and a light tune), it can roooooooooocks ! I would love to drive one at the track 😅
@@jonathanb.1625 I need to go watch Misha's video of your car! After tonight's football 😄 Having a car people don't expect to be fast is the most satisfying since you also have no pressure to drive fast most of the time! The 308 GTi is a great daily, although it's very...French 🤣 Things like only cupholders for passengers, no oil temp gauge on a performance car and loads of similar stuff. All minor things though, so I'm glad I bought one - and I did a *lot* of test drives before choosing it! Haven't been on track with mine...yet. Front brakes need doing so I'll decide if I finish them on track or perhaps buy better pads next time that will work on track.
In my experience the hdi/tdci engine will actually be very reliable as long as you are not overdue on oil changes and oil filter changes, also check for leaks in the injector seals, and everything will be fine
@@manuelventura3799 Got a long history with the 2.0 hdi, currently dailying a 150 brake Berlingo van 8valve Bosch. It's been a great thing, 6 or 7 years now very reliable yoke. I've been debating the 16v HDIs with myself for a while now and the rcz looks like a good chassis!
Indeed, if you can find anything with good kilometres it's a good choice, just make sure to know the previous owners habits, and as always change the oil and all filters right away just to be safe, and try requesting a 5W-30 low in SAPS to avoid carbon deposits formation and turbo failure @@Maksimov1337
maybe dont need new suspension, camber bolts if possible. edit. dont know if toyota bolts would fit it, i managed to get -0.7camber extra with 1 upper strut/knuckle bolt(90105-15006) on Celica.
